    3 tripartite seminars ( employers employees and labor inspectorate)dealing with:

    The global interest of social dialogue;

    The importance of SR in building partnership How to conceal between competitiveness and

    decent work conditions

    9 awareness seminars for labor union

    representatives dealing with: Social dialogue; Promotion of equity and non discrimination in

    employment;

    Health and safety in work places;

    Training and development of competencies

    3 training workshops on SR for labor unionrepresentatives tutors

    Elaboration of a guiding manual describing the

    evolution of SR in 5 modules A two-days regional (arabregion)workshop

    organized in December 2009 in collaborationwith ISO was held in Tunis and to which allstakeholders have been invited (more than 100

    persons participated) as well as all members ofthe national mirror committee.

    Objectives: explaining ISO 26000 principals;

    The way forward

    Adoption of ISO 26000 as a nationalstandard;

    Recourse to a public enquiry at a large scale(government bodies NGOs- employersfederation) so that all stakeholderswould be aware of its existence and knowabout its principals;

    Press releases containing the headlines ofthe standard;

    Broadcasted interviews with eitherrepresentatives from the standardizationbody or members from the national mirror

    committee who are fully convinced of the

    enhance different visitors to learn moreabout ISO 26000 content;

    Encouraging standardizing officers withinINNORPI to have a permanent item on thepublication of ISO 26000 in the agenda ofnational technical committees dealing

    Constraints

    The reluctance of employers federationrepresentatives to fully back-up theadoption of the standard: They fear that the standard would be an

    opportunity for workforces for more claims; The standard requirements need a change in

    managerial behavior and may require someinvestment as to environment and workconditions ;

    The standard should not be a basis for acertification scheme;

    The language barrier: Tunisia is an arabicand french speaking country,unfortunately, most of the literature

    developed around the standard and the

    The existence of a great number of off-shore companies whose interests may

    conflict with the principles of thestandard if there is the commitment ofthe managers is not strong enough;

    The discrepancy in commitment

    The increasing number of managementstandards as ISO9001, ISO 14001, ISO31000 and others which require theimplementation of new management
