Armenian experience Republic of Armenia is also part of this

Thats why Armenia represented three

participants from National Institute of

Standards in ISO Regional Workshop on

Social Responsibility 17th - 18thNovember 2009, Vilnius, Lithuania.

ISO26000Social ResponsibilityArmenian experience In order to enhance the awareness ISO with

NSB of Armenia organized the workshop inArmenia, March 25-26, 2010.

There were participants from Government,NGOs, Industry, Labourorganizations,Consumer organizations and SSROs (includingNSBs).

The workshop instructor was Martin Neureiter,Conveor of ISO/TMB/WG SR/TGG, Austria.

The participants were acquainted with standard.

What did we understand?

ISO 26000 standard is designed to regulate suchproblems as cultural, religious, sex differences

To change the treatment of society, relationships

between employers and employees, suppliers,

government, media, customers, partners, banks,

shareholders ...etc and their impact on society.

The standard is necessary because of the

significant increase of environmental

crisis, resources crisis, ethical crisis. To solve these problems ISO created

working group that involves experts from

all stakeholder groups.

The requirements of the standard are not

intended for certification, but for SR

integration throughout the organisation During the workshop we had 2 tasks and

hot discussions and listened opinions

about standard from all the representedparties.

RESULTS After adoption and publication of ISO 26000

there will be need to provide detailed informationon Social Responsibility in Armenia.

But! We have national laws (including laws on social

protection, human rights as well as labour

legislation) provisions of which express therequirements of ISO 26000. So, we partly meetthe requirements of the standard.

Republic of Armenia is planning to

develop the national standard based on

ISO 26000 to make it more available andeasy to use for our society.

The favourable aspect is that ISO 26000 is

fully compatible with ISO 9001:2008,

ISO 14001:2004 and companies alreadycertified to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 will

find it easy to integrate the requirements

of ISO 26000.
