A D I T I G A R GRESUME

My experience in the field of architecture, helped me upgarde my presentation skills, observation power, communication skills, team work and management. All these years have enabled me to own up for projects and look after them solely , heightening my love and passion for architecture. The study of crafts in CEPT would help me add an edge to my designs. Also, the critical thinking and writing helps me in understanding the field in a different dimension.

MATERIAL EXPLORATION - WAXThe aim of the project was to explore the qualities of ‘wax’. The setting of the wax was observed by pour-ing the wax over various materials – Plaster of Paris, Water, Enamel, Glue and Ice. The pouring of hot wax over cold ice, resulted in formation of a varied texture and a play of solid and voids. These experiments helped in coming up with ‘wax blocks’. The blocks thereby, helped in achieving modulated light when kept against the source of light (or sun). This was because, the pure paraffin wax carries a translucency in itself. To improve upon the strength of the wax blocks and keeping the translucency intact, 20% Polyethene (HDPDE) was added to it, which also increased the melting point. In order to achieve a surface, the blocks were reinforced by means of threaded rods (6mm MS Rods).

> More the diameter, more will be the surface area, more space for openings (within the completely shaded area), which will allow larger amount of day-light in the room.

> Aspect ratio of 1:1.5 was considered for the final design after analysing the various aspect ratios using th shadows for analysis mechanism.

DANCE AND DRAMA ACADEMYLUCKNOW

The project aims at encouraging the existing art in the form of music and dance in the city of Nawabs, which has been famous for the same.

CONCEPT

The design process started with the provision of a centrally located informal space (O.A.T), Which has all the functions radially along it. The informal space has been provided to motivate the others, the students to learn and perform by seeing the others do the same. The floors form a stepped profile to enhance the viewing towards the O.A.T. Shaded Steps are pro-vided throughout, so that they serve as a sitting space for the people.

10

The project aims at providing shelter to the tourists who need to rest for a night or have a train to change which is after a long gap, sp the people can avail the facility of rooms, restaurants, cyber cafe totake rest and pass their time.

CONCEPT - Intermingling of green / open spaces with the indoor spaces.

The terraces recede at every floor to give semi cov-ered space thus protecting from the sun and also channelizing the air towards the windows facing the terrace.

Open spaces having habitable spaces on either sides and are semi covered by the slabs of the rooms.

The facade of the building faces towards the rail-way station, to mark a connectivity to it. Also the form will help in escaping the westerlies which are the prevailing winds.
