España es el tercer productor y exportador de Máquinas-herramienta de la Unión Europea y el noveno del mundo:

Un posicionamiento logrado gracias al firme compromiso de los fabricantes de máquinas-herramienta, accesorios, componentes y herramientas con la innovación tecnológica, la internacionalización y el desarrollo de las personas.

Exportando como media más del 80% de la producción del sector a los mercados internacionales y destinando aproximadamente un 5% de la facturación a Investigación, Desarrollo e Innovación.

Dotando de las soluciones y medios productivos más avanzados a las principales industrias de la economía, contribuyendo así a mejorar su productividad y competitividad.

Siendo sus clientes industrias muy diversas y de alto contenido tecnológico: automoción, aeroespacial, ferrocarril, bienes de equipo, generación de energía, moldes y matrices, equipamiento médico, construcción, óptica, joyería, etc.

Se trata de un sector estratégico, motor del progreso tecnológico, ya que es indispensable para contar con una industria avanzada, productiva, rentable y sostenible.

Spain is the third largest manufacturer and exporter of machine tools in the European Union and the ninth biggest in the world.

Thanks to the firm commitment of manufacturers of machine tools, accessories, component parts and tools to technological innovation, internationalisation and people development.

This commitment has enabled them to export 80% of the sector’s production on average to international markets and about 5% of turnover to be earmarked for research, development and innovation.

The sector provides the main industries of the economy with production solutions and equipment, helping them to improve their productivity and competitiveness.

These are very diverse industries with a high technological content: automotive, aerospace, railway, capital goods, power generation, dies and moulds, medical equipment, construction, optics, jewellery, etc. It is a strategic sector as it is the driving force behind technological progress and essential for production automation.

AFM, ADVANCED MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGIES

AFM, Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, Asociación Española de Fabricantes de máquinas-herramienta, accesorios, componentes y herramientas, representa al 90% de las empresas especializadas en máquinas-herramienta y tecnologías avanzadas de fabricación existentes en España.

Desde su sede en San Sebastián y desde sus implantaciones en China (Tianjin) e India (Bangalore) trabaja para promover la internacionalización y la innovación tecnológica de sus empresas asociadas.

AFM, Advanced Manufacturing Technologies es miembro de CECIMO y de ECTA, las asociaciones europeas de fabricantes de máquinas-herramienta y herramientas de corte, respectivamente.

Además es co-organizador junto con BEC (Bilbao Exhibition Centre) de BIEMH, Bienal Española de Máquinas-herramienta, principal exposición de carácter industrial de las que se celebran en España.

También organiza cada dos años el Congreso de Máquinas-herramienta y Tecnologías de Fabricación.

AFM, como principal representante de la Máquina-herramienta, cuida con especial atención las relaciones con las diferentes administraciones e instituciones europeas, nacionales, autonómicas y locales.

AFM, preside el IMH, Instituto de Máquina-herramienta, Centro de Formación Profesional de referencia en España y Escuela Universitaria adscrita a la Universidad del País Vasco.

AFM, ADVANCED MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGIES

AFM, Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, the Spanish Association of Manufacturers of machine tools, accessories, component parts and tools, represents 90% of firms specialising in machine tools and advanced manufacturing technologies in Spain.

From its headquarters in San Sebastian and its setups in China (Tianjin) and India (Bangalore) it works to promote the internationalisation and technological innovation of its associate companies.

AFM, Advanced Manufacturing Technologies is a member of CECIMO and ECTA, the European associations of manufacturers of machine tools and cutting tools, respectively.

It is also the organiser jointly with BEC (Bilbao Exhibition Centre) of BIEMH, the Biennial Spanish Machine Tool Fair, the most important industrial exhibition held in Spain.

Every two years it also organises the Machine Tools and Manufacturing Technologies Congress.

AFM, as the main representative of the Spanish machine tool sector, pays special attention to its relations with the different European, national, autonomous and local governments and bodies.

The AFM presides over the IMH, the Machine Tool Institute, a benchmark Vocational Training Centre in Spain and University College attached to the University of the Basque Country.

The Association, through its technology unit, INVEMA, Machine Tool Research Foundation, provides support for companies by boosting their technological development and improving their industrial management in close collaboration with their R&D&i units.

Every two years it organises the Machine Tools and Manufacturing Technologies Congress, a forum for the exchange of knowledge in advanced manufacturing technologies, in which the latest advances in the sector are presented, to promote their application in production processes.

DETRÁS DE LAS MÁQUINAS,SIEMPRE HAY PERSONAS

El sector de Máquinas-herramienta es intensivo en conocimiento, siendo las personas que lo componen el activo principal. Por ello, la Asociación realiza, en colaboración con universidades y centros de formación, actividades para incentivar y dar a conocer el sector entre los estudiantes de carreras técnicas, con el objetivo de atraerles hacia las empresas del sector.

A su vez, la formación es uno de los pilares fundamentales del progreso y crecimiento del sector de Máquinas-herramienta. Para la labor formativa y de desarrollo de competencias de alta cualificación, AFM cuenta con la colaboración activa del IMH, Instituto de Máquina-herramienta, Centro de Formación Profesional de referencia en España y Escuela Universitaria adscrita a la Universidad del País Vasco.

Por otra parte, PROSCHOOLS es una unidad especializada en la transferencia de tecnología educativa a través de la promoción y puesta en marcha de centros e instituciones de formación técnica profesional en todo el mundo. Integrada en AFM, en la actualidad cuenta con dos centros de formación profesional en el extranjero: el Instituto Hispano-Chino de Tianjin en China (CSMC) y el Instituto Hispano-Malayo de Kulim en Malasia.

BEHIND THEMACHINES THERE ARE ALWAYS PEOPLE

The machine tool sector is knowledge intensive, so the people working in it are its companies’ main asset. Therefore, in collaboration with universities and training centres, the Association carries out activities to promote the sector among students studying technical subjects, in an attempt to attract the best to work in companies in the machine tool sector.

Training is also one of the mainstays of the progress and growth of the machine tool sector. In order to train and develop the abilities of the highly skilled staff required by the sector’s firms, AFM can count on the active collaboration of the IMH, the Machine Tool Institute, a benchmark Vocational Training Centre in Spain and University College attached to the University of the Basque Country.

On the other hand, PROSCHOOLS is a unit specialising in educational technology transfer through the promotion and start-up of vocational training centres and establishments all over the world. It is part of AFM, which currently has two vocational training centres abroad: the Chinese-Spanish Machine Tool Vocational Centre in Tianjin, China (CSMC) and the Malaysian-Spanish Institute in Kulim, Malaysia.
