Chosen Problem Statement

How might we provide healthier food options for people in need?

Focusing Problem Statement

How might we provide healthier food options for students living in accommodation?

• We realised that students living in student accommodation have unique food habits.

• We chose this as our target market.

• “Students living in student accommodation”

Research Plan

PEOPLE EXPERTS IN CONTEXT IMMERSION

Preparation is keyBeing informed is important

Gathering Insights

Insight Statements

We compared all of our findings from all of our research areas and looked for common themes.

They were:

• Students do not think healthy food is cheap and tasty

• Students feel eating unhealthy food is easier than eating healthy food

• Students are not aware of accessible healthy food options in the area

How Might We Questions

We defined “how might we” statements for each of our 3 key insights, then discussed the most appropriate “how might we” statement to tackle:

• How might we… change the way students perceive healthy and unhealthy food

• How might we… present healthy food as a cheap and tasty option

• How might we help students find accessible healthy food options in the area?

Big Idea

In our own words

“An app where you can tell it what you’re craving, and it will give you a healthy alternative”

Experience Mapping

Prototype

Testing + Feedback

Approached groups of students studying at UTS

+People understood the benefits of switching their craving for something healthyPeople thought it was very easy to usePeople found the information legitimately intriguing

-There was little incentive to continually useOnly moderate likelihood of changing behaviours long term

!People who were already interested in healthy living found this informative and usefulSome users would need to know exactly how unhealthy their current craving was
