There is – hay (en singular)

Indica la existencia de una cosa en algún lugar. Se utiliza con sustantivos contables,

por ejemplo: apple, chair, car, dog, etc.

Siempre va acompañado de a/an (un/una).

Revisa los siguientes ejemplos:

There is a dog in the house.

There is a tree on the street.

There is a bird on the tree.

There are – hay (en plural)

Indica la existencia de más de una cosa en algún lugar. Se utiliza con sustantivos

contables pero en plural, por ejemplo: apples, chairs, cars, dogs, etc.

Puede llevar el número de las cosas que existen en el lugar.

Por ejemplo:

There are two dogs in the house.

There are trees on the street.

There are four birds on the tree.

NegaciónNota:Recuerda lasreglas para crearel plural de lossustantivos.

There isn’t (is not) a table.

There isn’t (is not) a car.

There aren’t (are not) any desks.

There aren’t (are not) any computers.

Cuando se emplea la negación en plural se agrega la palabra “any” antes del

sustantivo.

1. A la mayoría de los sustantivos

sólo se les agrega una “s” al nal.

Ejemplo:

2. Si la palabra termina en s, ss, sh, x,

z, le agregas “es”.Ejemplo:

3. Si la palabra termina en “f” o “fe”,

cámbialos por “ves”.Ejemplo:

4. Si la palabra termina en una

consonante + y, cambia la “y” por

“i” y agrega “es”.

Ejemplo:

5. Si la palabra termina en una vocal

+ y, o en vocal + o, sólo se agrega

una “s”.

Ejemplo:

6. Si la palabra termina en “f” o “fe”,

cámbialos por “ves”.Ejemplo:

Algunos sustantivos no llevan “s” al nal al convertirlos en plural, ya que son

irregulares.

local para poder describir las partes de una casa.

Revisa la siguiente imagen y lee con atención el texto. Identica las preposiciones en

el texto y los objetos de la casa.

In my house there is a living room. In the living room there is a TV, a chair

next to the TV and a table in front of the TV. Also, there is a mirror on the wall.

There is a kitchen. In the kitchen there are cupboards and a fridge. Also, there

is a sink and a microwave next to sink. In the study, there is a desk and there is

a computer on the desk.

¿Recuerdas el vocabulario de casa?

Puedes utilizar there is/there are y las proposiciones para mencionar la ubicación de

los objetos de la casa, como en el tema anterior.
