The obesity rate in Georgia is between 30 – 35%Only 2 states rate higher in obesity than Georgia: WV and Miss. Medical cost of obesity in US $147 billion in 2008 Obesity higher among middle age adults 40-59 25% of US adults eat recommended 5 or more servings of fruit

and vegetables Less than 25% of adolescents eat 5 or more servings of fruit

and vegetables More than 50% of adults do not get recommended amount of

physical activity More than 1/3 of young people grade 9-12 do not regularly

engage in physical activity
