Can an urban real estate project drive thisvision for Medina?In 2006, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced itsintention to create a new Knowledge Economic City inthe north-west quadrant of Medina, donating land andinvesting billions of dollars in a major city infrastructure andreal estate development project. Fast transport will link thearea to the central mosque within minutes. Gulf War Remediation + Restoration Program
The United Nation Compensation Commission (UNCC)
under the Supervision of Presidency of Meteorology
& Environmental (PME) have funded the Coastal and
Terrestrial Remediation and Restoration Program.
Terrestrial Environment Remediation and Restoration
Program (TE-RRP) to address damages that occurred to the
terrestrial habitats of the northern deserts of the Kingdom
of Saudi Arabia (KSA) as a result of Iraqs invasion andoccupation of Kuwait (First Gulf War). Within the total area
encompassed by the project, approximately 3,649.6 km2
of desert habitat was directly impacted by military activities.
Coastal Environment Remediation and Restoration Program
(CE-RRP) to address damages that occurred to the intertidal
habitats of the Gulf coast of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
(KSA), specifically the salt marshes and tidal flats that
lie within the coastal embayments, as a result of the oil
released to surface waters of the Gulf in 1991 (1991 spill)
during Iraqs invasion and occupation of Kuwait (First Gulf
War) . A ppr oxi mat ely 800 km of sho rel ine was imp acted
between the Kuwait border and Jazirat Abu Ali.
MBO provides Quantity Surveying Consultancy Services
(QSC) to support the Coastal and Terrestrial Remediation
and Restoration Program (RRP) being overseen by the
Project Owner and the Program Management Support
Contractor (PMSC).The primary responsibility of the
QSC Consultant is to provide the Project Owner with
documentation indicating whether the Restoration
Contractors (RCs) work conforms to the Remediation
Contract requirements.
