    and the common sense based on 25 years I've spent in the field assessing, coaching and

    consulting leaders.

    available to others. trive to be succinct and specific about directions and instructions.

    $bove all, a good leader avoids generali(ations and ambiguities that can lead to

    misunderstanding, conflict and poor performance.

    ). The success$ul leader supports and 'uides the e&ployees% tart by helping others

    clarify and achieve goals by identifying and removing any obstacles. *rovide the resources

    +time, money, people, information and e uipment- needed to complete the tas!. #on't

    reprimand others who ma!e mista!es when ta!ing a well&calculated ris!. Instead, criti ueand analy(e what went wrong and what went right. e/t, wor! with the employee to correct

    the error. #ecide whether another attempt at a previous goal is necessary, and offer

    encouragement if it is. #uring the entire process, provide appropriate feedbac! to ensure

    positive attitudes and actions. erve as a model of good attitude and use approaches that

    others can emulate.
