    • A specialist system of EM conveyors will be used to handle excavated material

    from tunnelling and box excavation to a surface disposal point

    • The assessment of the construction noise in the Environmental Statement took

    into account noise from the proposed conveyors

    • Typical mitigation could include in line with draft Code of Construction Practice:

    • Maintenance including lubrication of the rollers

    • Limiting drop heights for loading and unloading

    • Locating motor units away from sensitive receptors

    • Partial or full enclosure of drive units and belt near sensitive receptors

    Potential widening of Victoria Road

    • LB Ealing have put forward a proposal not to widen Victoria Road for HGV

    movements, instead their proposal is to widen the road to include a cycle lane.

    HS2 is reviewing the proposal and will report back to LB Ealing on its outcomes in

    May 2016.

    Requirement for GWML Up-Relief Flyover

    • Under additional provision 2 (AP2) to the bill, HS2 Ltd promotes turnback sidingsalong the Wycombe rail corridor which also provides passive provision for a WestCoast Main Line to Crossrail link if promoted in the future.

    • Three turnback sidings are provided to enable up to 12 Crossrail trains per hour

    (tph) to turn back at Old Oak Common station.

    • In addition AP2 promotes a flyover on the Great Western Main Line Up-Relief toprovide a grade-separation junction to avoid conflicting movements betweenCrossrail train turning back and other services.

    Network Rail supports HS2 Ltd’s assessment that a grade separated junction isnecessary. The intensity of use of this junctions in both directions is likely topresent a significant risk to train operations due to conflicting train movements.

    • The works will involve the strengthening of the existing

    boundary wall between Wells House road and Old Oak

    Common Lane.

    • Infrequent temporary access to the back garden of

    approximately 25 properties is required for baseline

    surveys. The majority of the construction works will be

    undertaken from Old Oak Common Lane.

    Potential Over-site development at Old Oak Common

    • Oversite development (OSD) is potential development, not included in the

    scheme being proposed by HS2 Ltd that may be promoted by others, either over

    the high speed railway or on the land returned after construction. This will require

    separate planning permissions, supported by a separate environmental

    assessment.

    • HS2 Ltd is in discussion with the Old Oak and Park Royal Development

    Corporation on the potential of amending the design of the station so as not to

    preclude future OSD development .

    Old Oak Common station – location & entrance

    • As set out in paragraph 66 of the Promoter’s Response to the Select Committee’s

    Second Special Report of Session 2015-16:

    ‘In developing its detailed design and construction plans, and as part of its efforts to

    mitigate, as far as reasonably practicable, the impact of the Proposed Scheme onresidents of Wells House Road, the Promoter will consider a range of options for thelocation of the vehicular entrance to the Old Oak Common Station main compound

     from Old Oak Common Lane.’ 

    Other mitigation measures will reduce construction effects such as noise, light and

    air pollution so far as reasonably practicable, in accordance with the Code ofConstruction Practice.’
