Merry Christmas to all of you!
This is my ninth Christmas with you as part of
our STA Family. Being a part of this family of
faith has been the greatest blessing of my life. It
is with great love and gratitude that I celebrate
Christmas Mass with you and for you. We have been
through a lot together over these years and especially
during this time of the pandemic. Sometimes the world
we live in can be troublesome and challenging.�
But the message of the Christmas story is one of hope!
It’s a story of our God, who breaks into the chaos of the
world, and offers His unconditional presence to us.
And just as God offered that presence in Jesus to the
world 2,000 years ago, he continues to offer that pres-
ence to each of us every day!�
During Advent we have been making the effort to grow
in holiness through the four holy habits of daily �
prayer, regularly celebrating the Sacrament of �
Reconciliation, self�denial, & keeping Sundays holy.
We want to be holy so that we can help to bring Christ’s
presence into the world in a more powerful way!�
As missionary disciples of Jesus, during this Christmas
Season, we can remind our loved ones that Jesus is our
Lord, Friend, and Savior, and that no matter the stress-
ors in your family life, God desires to be present with
us. This Christmas, give that presence to your children,
grandchildren, friends, and family members, sharing
with them the gift of faith in Jesus Christ.�

¡Feliz Navidad a todos!
Esta es mi novena Navidad con ustedes como parte
de nuestra familia Saint Thomas Aquinas. Ser
parte de esta familia de fe ha sido la mayor ben-
dición de mi vida. Es con gran amor y gratitud que
celebro la Misa de Navidad con ustedes y por ustedes.
Hemos pasado por muchas cosas juntos a lo largo de es-
tos años y especialmente durante este tiempo de pandem-
ia. A veces, el mundo en el que vivimos puede ser prob-
lemático y desafiante.�
¡Pero el mensaje de la historia de Navidad es de esperan-
za! Es una historia de nuestro Dios, que irrumpe en el ca-
os del mundo y nos ofrece Su presencia incondicional. Y
así como Dios ofreció esa presencia en Jesús al mundo
hace 2,000 años, ¡continúa ofreciendo esa presencia a ca-
da uno de nosotros todos los días!�
Durante el Adviento hemos estado haciendo el esfuerzo
de crecer en santidad a través de los cuatro Santos Hábi-
tos de la Oración Diaria, la Celebración Regular del Sac-
ramento de la Reconciliación, la Abnegación y Santifi-
cación de los Domingos. ¡Queremos ser santos para poder
ayudar a traer la presencia de Cristo al mundo de una
manera más poderosa!�
Como discípulos misioneros de Jesús, durante esta tem-
porada navideña, podemos recordar a nuestros seres
queridos que Jesús es nuestro Señor, amigo y Salvador, y
que no importa los factores estresantes en su vida famil-
iar, Dios desea estar presente con nosotros. Esta Navidad,
dale esa presencia a tus hijos, nietos, amigos y familiares,
compartiendo con ellos el don de la fe en Jesucristo.�

Thank You Volunteers and Staff
Our parish is so blessed with many generous volunteers
that make our mission to be an evangelizing parish of
missionary disciples a reality. Thank you to all the �
volunteers who helped decorate and clean the Church.
Thank you to all of our liturgical ministers. Thank you
to all of our musicians and singers. Thank you to all
those who help in so many ways by offering your time
and talent to our parish family and to make our �
Christmas Masses so special.�
Thank you to our STA Staff who have been so �
dedicated and hard working through these times of the
pandemic to keep our mission going and ministries �
vibrant. Especially I appreciate all the extra work they
put in this time of year to make our Christmas Masses

This year we celebrate both Christmas and the
Feast of the Holy Family on the same weekend.
It gives us a chance to look at the Incarnation
from two different perspectives. On Christmas
we celebrate the joy, the wonder, and the awe
that God should humble himself to be born as a
human being; to come among us as one of us. The
glory of Christmas day truly makes it one of the great
celebrations of the year. The Feast of the Holy Family
is a more intimate affair. In this year’s Gospel we hear
about 12�year old Jesus in the Temple, and the fright
that his disappearance caused his family. It’s a brief
look into the actual family life of Jesus. We tend not to
think much about the day�to�day life of the Holy �
Family; their struggles, fears, joys and the mundane
minutiae that is life. What was it like to live in a
household with God present there? And yet we can
experience the same thing. Jesus can be with us every
day in our households if we invite him in to share our
struggles, fears, joys and, yes, even the minutiae that
makes up our everyday lives. Christmas marks the
celebration of Christ coming into our world, but we
need to remember it is not a one�day event. Yes, it is
important to keep Christ in Christmas � but it is also
important to keep him in the day after that, and the day
after that, and the day after that. . . �

Este año celebramos tanto la Navidad como la
Fiesta de la Sagrada Familia el mismo fin de
semana. Nos da la oportunidad de mirar a la �
Encarnación desde dos perspectivas diferentes.
En Navidad celebramos la alegría, la maravilla y
el asombro de que Dios se humille para nacer
como ser humano; para venir entre nosotros �
como uno de nosotros. La gloria del día de Navidad
realmente lo convierte en una de las grandes celebra-
ciones del año. La Fiesta de la Sagrada Familia es un
asunto más íntimo. En el Evangelio de este año �
escuchamos acerca de Jesús de 12 años en el Templo y
el miedo que su desaparición causó a su familia. Es una
breve mirada a la vida familiar real de Jesús. Tendemos
a no pensar mucho en el día a día de la Sagrada �

The Sacraments of the Church nourish and strengthen our
faith and draw us deep into the loving embrace of Christ.
Please let us know how we can help you celebrate these
special encounters with him.�
Coming Home to Faith—Reconciliation
Perhaps you or someone you know has been away from the
Church and feels awkward or as if you don’t belong. The
best way to come home is to celebrate the Sacrament of
Reconciliation. Confessing your own loss and confusion
and receiving absolution of your sins frees you to enter fully
into the life of the Church. You may celebrate this
sacrament at any of our regularly scheduled times or call to
make a private appointment with Fr. Bart at 833�2600.�
Anointing of the Sick
When people are seriously ill or hospitalized, the Sacrament
is celebrated individually. We urge you to contact us prior
to hospitalization for elective surgery if you would like to
be anointed. Let us know if someone is seriously ill or
homebound and would like to receive the Sacraments or a
home visit.�
Confirmation
Many adults never celebrated Confirmation and have
missed out on the strengthening the Holy Spirit provides.
Contact Dcn. Jerome to learn about the preparation and
celebration of Confirmation at the Easter Vigil. Dcn.
Jerome also leads our Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
for those seeking adult baptism or becoming Catholic.�
Matrimony
The fidelity and love of a married couple is a special sign
for us of Jesus’ promise to be with the Church always. We
take great joy in helping couples prepare for the sacrament.

If you seek baptism of a newborn or if you have an older

Hying’s call for us to prepare ourselves to be evangelizers!
The Diocese of Madison is in the midst of an evangelizing
initiative called “Go Make Disciples.” Our task as believ-
ers is “to proclaim in a fresh way and with a bold impulse
the good news of Jesus Christ, of God’s love for us, of the
offer of salvation and forgiveness won for us by Jesus
through his death and resurrection; to speak of Jesus as if
people have never heard of him, because in many cases
they really haven’t, and so the Good News is both “Good”

We need to seek holiness in order to be equipped for the
work of missionary discipleship. We need to build our �
confidence and competence to speak to others about Jesus
Christ. Many of our efforts at St. Thomas Aquinas this
year � including Relit in both English and Spanish, �

www.evangelicalcatholic.org/), starting more small groups
in Lent, growing in our “holy habits,” and hosting a parish
mission in the spring � are intended to help align us with
the Diocesan mission. We are excited to see all that the
Holy Spirit will do in our parish, and in our Diocese.�
