From the Pastor’s Desk… A voice cries out in the desert. "Prepare the way of the Lord" indicating the beginning of Advent. The promise of a Messiah is carried out and the desire of the nations, the wisdom from above, the key of David, the rose and the star become reality in Emmanuel, God with us and his name is Jesus. This time, this liturgical season, has two expectations. In the first place it is a time of preparation. We give an air to this time with the same finesse that awaits a very special guest at home. Also the scriptures point to the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, at the end of human history as we know it. In both cases you have to be prepared ... So we organize ourselves for Christmas. We arrange the house, we assemble the manger and the Christmas tree, we organize the different dinners that we will carry out and we buy gifts that we will give during the holidays. And all this we do perhaps forgetting our prayer life, spending money that we do not have in the middle of conflicts and superfluous family discussions and the excesses of the parties that some consider normal. You have to eat more, you have to drink more and you have to spend more. All in the name of the birth of the child God. We worry about fixing the manger in our homes without looking at how the manger of our hearts is. This is the season to demonstrate what the birth of the child God truly means. The Church calls us to evaluate our relationship with Jesus. It is a time to see ourselves before the mirror of our faith and see what things need to change, in what areas of our lives we need to grow, evolve or even where we need conversion. It is another opportunity to make an inventory of our lives and thus strengthen what is weak, straighten what is crooked, make amendments of the wrong, forgive, build and wait ... Advent is an opportunity to be children again. Let's wait for the King of kings, who will come as the star of tomorrow, crowning the mountains of our existence with radiant light, guiding our hearts with grace and glory. "Prepare the way of the Lord ..."

Del Escritorio del Párroco… Una voz clama en el desierto. “Preparen el camino del Señor” indicando la llegada del adviento. La promesa de un Mesías se lleva a cabo y el deseo de las naciones, la sabiduría de lo alto, la llave de David, la rosa y la estrella se hacen realidad en Emanuel, Dios con nosotros y su nombre es Jesús. Este tiempo, esta temporada litúrgica, tiene dos expectativas. En primer lugar es un tiempo de preparación. Le damos un aire a

este tiempo con la misma fineza del que espera a un invitado muy especial en su hogar. También las escrituras señalan al segundo advenimiento de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, al final de la historia humana como la conocemos. En ambos casos hay que estar preparados… Así pues nos organizamos para la Navidad. Arreglamos la casa, montamos el nacimiento y el árbol de navidad, organizamos las diversas cenas que llevaremos a cabo y compramos regalos que daremos durante las fiestas. Y todo esto lo hacemos quizás olvidando nuestra vida de oración, gastando dinero que no tenemos en medio de conflictos y discusiones familiares superfluas y los excesos de las fiestas que algunos consideran normales. Hay que comer más, hay que tomar más y hay que gastar más. Todo en el nombre del nacimiento del niño Dios. Nos preocupamos por arreglar el nacimiento en nuestros hogares sin fijarnos como está el nacimiento de nuestros corazones. Esta es la temporada para demostrar lo que el nacimiento del niño Dios verdaderamente significa. La Iglesia nos llama a evaluar nuestra relación con Jesús. Es un momento para vernos ante el espejo de nuestra fe y ver qué cosas hay que cambiar, en cuales áreas de nuestras vidas necesitamos crecer, evolucionar o inclusive en donde necesitamos conversión. Es otra oportunidad para hacer un inventario de nuestras vidas y así fortalecer lo que esté débil, enderezar lo que esté torcido, hacer enmiendas de lo incorrecto, perdonar, construir y esperar… El adviento es una oportunidad para volver a ser niños. Esperemos al Rey de reyes, quien vendrá como la estrella del mañana, coronando las montañas de nuestra existencia con radiante luz, guiando nuestros corazones con gracia y con gloria. “Preparen el camino del Señor…”

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS NOTICIAS DEL CATECISMO The Lord's Peace be with you!

Our 2017 Parish Nativity Play is on Wednesday, December 27th starting at 7:00 P.M. We take great pride in bringing to you this annual tradition, and are excited to invite you to join us. This year’s Play is taken from the Gospel of Luke, and will incorporate the Annunciation of the Birth of John the Baptist, the Annunciation to Mary, Mary’s Visit to her cousin Elizabeth, and the Journey to Bethlehem culminating with the Birth of Our Lord. Rehearsals are well underway, and our students and their parents are hard at work familiarizing themselves with the script. It takes a lot of effort to successfully carry out an event such as this. We therefore extend an invitation for you to consider how you might be able to assist us. If interested, please contact the parish office to add your name to the list of volunteers. We encourage you to get involved with this parish event, and thank you in advance for your valuable contribution. Let’s come together as a family of faith and make of this Nativity Play an unforgettable one!

Nuestra Obra de la Natividad parroquial de 2017 será el miércoles, 27 de diciembre a partir de las 7:00 P.M. Nos sentimos muy orgullosos de traerles esta tradición anual y con mucha alegría les invitamos a unirse a nosotros. La Obra de este año es tomada del Evangelio de San Lucas, e incorpora la Anunciación del Nacimiento de Juan el Bautista, la Anunciación a María, la Visita de María a su prima Isabel, y la Jornada hacia Belén culminando con el Nacimiento de Nuestro Señor. Los ensayos están en marcha y nuestros estudiantes y sus padres están trabajando arduamente en familiarizarse con el libreto. Para llevar a cabo exitosamente un evento como este se requiere un gran esfuerzo. Por lo tanto, le extendemos una invitación para que consideren en que manera nos pueden ayudar. Si están interesados, póngase en contacto con la oficina parroquial para añadir su nombre a la lista de voluntarios. May I have your attention please…do not eat breakfast at home this Sunday before coming to Mass. Instead join us for Breakfast with Santa! We will be serving breakfast from 9am-2pm. At 2pm we will have the grand raffle drawing. The breakfast is $7 big plate: 3 pancakes, 2 sausages, scrambled eggs and beverage; $6 for small plate: 2 pancakes, 1 sausage, scrambled eggs and beverages. Framed pictures with Santa will be $5. Christmas is about love and family and that is what we strive to be for the women in difficult pregnancies who come to us for help. After their babies are born, they thank

us for all of our help, love and concern for them. SEEKING DONATIONS: We are in immediate need of 6 infant car seat/carriers, also 5 large car seats for 20 to 40 lb (by law all car seats must be less than 7 years old), Also needed are diapers in sizes 5 and 6 only. These items cannot be picked up unless accompanied by baby furniture. The families who receive these things are grateful for your generosity. Navidad es tiempo de la familia y dar amor, y son las dos cosas que nosotros nos esforzamos por ser para las mujeres que nos vienen a ver con embarazos difíciles. Después de que nazcan sus bebés, ellas nos agradecen de todo el amor, la ayuda, y el cuidado que les dimos. BUSCANDO DONACIONES: Nos urgen 6 sillas de carro para infantes así como 5 sillas de carro para niños que pesan 20 – 40 libras (según la ley, todas las sillas de carro deber ser compradas no más de hace desde 7 años ); También se necesi-tan pañales de tamaño 5 y 6 solamente. No podemos mandar a un voluntario para recoger pañales, a menos que esa donación venga acompañada por muebles para bebé. Las familias que reci-ben estos artículos están muy agradecidas por su generosidad. Novena de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe

La Iglesia de San Luis Gonzaga continúa con las Novenas de nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Sábado, 9 de diciembre al 11 de diciembre, comenzando con un Rosario a las 6:30pm seguido de una Misa a las 7 de la noche.

El martes, 12 de diciembre habrá Misa de las Mañanitas a las 5:30am seguido de una recepción. La Misa de las Rosas será a las 7:00pm.

Novena to Our Lady of Guadalupe

The Church of St. Aloysius continues with the Novenas of our Lady of Guadalupe Saturday, December 9 to December 11th, starting with a Rosary at 6:30pm followed by a Mass at 7 p.m. On Tuesday, December 12th there will be the Mass of the Mañanitas at 5:30am followed by a reception. The Mass of the Roses will be at 7:00 p.m.

The Parish Giving Tree

The holidays are the perfect time to thank God for the good things we have in life. One of the best ways of being thankful is to use our blessings to help those in need. As of last week, Sunday, December 3rd St. Aloysius Parish has a “Giving Tree” decorated with ornaments asking us to respond to the needs of many different groups: needs within our own Parish and the needs of the students attending St. Aloysius Gonzaga High School in Kenya. Parishioners will be able to take an ornament or two and purchase the items on the ornament. We want to take care of others first. Please make sure that the families and the children in Africa are helped. Please bring the ornament attached to the wrapped gift to the Church by December 20th. You can place your gift monetary/and or gift cards into the collection basket at Mass or you may drop it off at the Parish Office.

Los Regalos del Árbol Parroquial

Los feriados son el tiempo perfecto para dar gracias a Dios por todo lo bueno que tenemos en la vida. Una de las mejores formas de dar gracias es usar nuestras bendiciones para ayudar a aquellos en necesidad. A partir de la semana pasada domingo, 3 de diciembre la parroquia de San Luis Gonzaga tiene un “Árbol de Regalos”

decorado con ornamentos pidiendo que respondamos a las necesidades de diferentes grupos: necesidades dentro de la parroquia y las necesidades de los estudiantes de la escuela San Aloysius en Kenia. Feligreses podrán tomar un ornamento o dos y comprar los artículos del ornamento. Queremos ayudar primero a otros. Favor de asegurarse que las familias y niños en África sean ayudados. Favor de traer el ornamento adjunto al regalo envuelto a la Iglesia el 20 de diciembre. Puede poner su regalo de dinero/y o tarjetas de regalo en la colecta de la Misa o lo puede dejar en la Oficina Parroquial.
