Arte 10, en su XXV aniversario, desea con la muestra de Guru Josh, dar testimonio en su galería de una novedosa forma de expresión plástica poniendo sobre el tapete la interrelación que existe entre el arte de siempre y la música de hoy, entre la electrónica y el arte plástico y entre la música house o dance y la pintura.
Las obras que conforman el nuevo lenguaje artístico de GJ poseen una carga experimental muy interesante y escasamente expuesta en el panorama del arte contemporáneo. El conjunto, además de seguir un recorrido musical, recrea relevantes reminiscencias del sol y la luz ibicencos y también la exaltación del gozo juvenil de la noche de la Ibiza que le adoptó
Se ha recreado el ambiente de la galería con los instrumentos básicos con los que el artista suele deleitar al público tocando en vivo y en directo. De la música al arte, Reflexions, es una muestra experimental auténtica, cargada de energía y vitalidad creativa, donde GJ transmite sensaciones personales que provocan auténticas experiencias de fusión acústica y visual en un escenario improvisado dentro y fuera de la galería.
La Galería Arte 10 se llena de fiesta en su XXV aniversario ya que GJ no se encontrará solo. Interpretará intercurrente e improvisadamente sets musicales de producción exclusivo para su estreno pictórico Reflections. El inédito set es un improvisado repertorio de música en vivo y en directo en que -si el espacio es propicio- acompañarán al artista, piano, saxo y violín, y su representación tendrá lugar dentro y fuera de la Galería. El creador de Infinity mezclará la electrónica con música clásica, blues y jazz, actuando como showman en medio de su producción acrílica.
Reflections supone un vuelco en la trayectoria musical de Guru Josh, y añade al atractivo del músico y cantante un plus debido a sus dotes como pintor. Evocando un escenario de fusión musical y pictórica, Josh trae nostalgias expresionistas europeas y americanas que se funden plásticamente recordándonos a Munch, Pollock, Lindström, Bacon y al mismísimo Miró, entre otros.
La obra de Guru Josh sigue explorando amplios territorios creativos y no para de experimentar con numerosas soportes (resinas, compuestos de silicona, cristales líquidos y mezclas cargadas de color) en su intento creciente de forjar un nuevo lenguaje artístico, en ocasiones tridimensional. Estamos expectantes ante la reacción del numeroso público que se acercará a ver su obra en Arte 10, mientras le escuchan tocando.
Las primeras respuestas a la presencia de este nuevo lenguaje artístico podrán contemplarse el día de la inauguración, que tendrá lugar el día 18 de Febrero a las 21h.
El XXV aniversario no concluirá con la inauguración ya que durante las tardes madrileñas de Arco 2014 en la Galería Arte 10, además de sts improvisados de Josh, habrá presentación intercurrente de alguna elegante performance, y el acompañamiento de alguna que otra promesa DJ del momento.
Están previstas itinerancias similares a Reflections con nuevas muestras pictóricas, set musicales inéditos y eventos en diferentes continentes y países de la mano de las más prestigiosas galerías y espacios musicales deseosos de presentar este nuevo discurso creativo. 73 Millones de fans le esperan Guru Josh Project - Infinity 2008

I live to create, everything I see, everything I feel, everything I experience influences the evolution of my work. Explaining how one arrives to create is difficult putting ones finger on exactly what has inspired a certain piece, for me is impossible, it's a complex journey.
I delight in the prospect of sharing with the public the random artistic interpretation of my hugely unpredictable imagination, my thoughts and my ideas, and subsequently to absorb the critical reaction it provokes.
Life is Art and Art and creativity is my life.

La circunstancia de tener frente a nosotros a un personaje de esta envergadura, le otorga a su pintura un respeto y una reflexión muy por encima de cualquier otra consideración. El hecho de haber vendido más de 12 millones de copias de su single , le ha permitido a Guru Josh codearse con la crème Infinity en 2008de la crème mundial de su estirpe, gozar con ella del Olimpo musical.
Su origen británico, la pureza de su acento inglés y de su poderosa voz, ligada a la de sus reflexiones y acusada personalidad sitúan a uno frente a un pintor de excepción. GJ se ha abierto paso en cuantos proyectos se ha propuesto precisamente porque siempre ha tratado de entregar lo mejor de sí mismo tal y como plasma ahora en esta colección de acrílicos, algunos de ellos tridimensionales.
Al creador de Infinity le gusta huir del academicismo y mostrar revelaciones artísticas subjetivas que “pasan” de los convencionalismos al uso. Josh percibe el arte como un acto automático, irreflexivo e impredecible basado en su inspiración y en la mera espontaneidad.
El arte de Josh es propio de personalidades brillantes y ávidas de expresar sus sentimientos a través de la música, de la pintura o de cualquier otro medio creativo. Recordemos que es cantante, músico, productor y showman, además de pintor, entre otras cosas.
Su pintura denota una búsqueda irreflexiva y espontánea en la que instrumentaliza pinceles, espátulas, dedos, teclados, colores, botes de pintura, instrumentos, soportes y metacrilatos. Se trata de fusiones entre surrealistas y abstractas que otorgan preeminencia a la temática de sus vivencias más prohibidas y pasionales.
Este showman forja texturas y colores cambiantes, composiciones vibrantes e imágenes psicodélicas que revelan lo universal en el acontecer musical del pintor. Pero, cuidado, no hay desorden en todo ello. Hay un caos perfectamente controlado que transmite belleza sonora y recuerda a la fusión música-color, a la mezcla de luz, vibración y sol. Los colores de GJ son muy pasionales y de gran potencia expresiva. Pero a pesar de todo lo anterior, este artista disfruta de una manifestación plástica muy personal.

No se puede uno perder el hecho de verlo tocar y disfrutar en directo frente a su obra. Sin duda todo un acontecimiento que, durante la semana cultural madrileña, reunirá al amplio espectro de profesionales de la música y el arte, de los medios de comunicación especializados y cómo no de los coleccionistas de cualquier signo.
“REFLECTIONS. De la música al arte”
El arte es una expresión humana en la que se quiere transmitir ideas, emociones o una visión del mundo. Pues con “Reflections” de Guru Josh, vemos una especial visión del mundo a través de los ojos y las manos de Paul Walden (Guru Josh). Este artista británico, que en 1983 marchó a Estados Unidos para hacer música, acabó viviendo de los cuadros que pintaba de los rascacielos de San Francisco. Pero Guru Josh, con la personalidad propia de los hombres del Renacimiento, de mentalidad abierta y dedicada a las artes, acabó triunfando con la música y la producción de Infinity, su gran éxito musical.
Desde 2010 retomó su amor por el arte y ahora lo muestra en esta exposición en la Galería Arte 10 de Madrid, con motivo de la celebración de ARCO 2014. La obra de Guru Josh explora las posibilidades de la investigación y el proceso de la creación artística. Meses de experimentación con cientos de resinas, compuestos de silicona, cristal líquido y la mezcla de colores binarios que provocan al espectador obras cargadas de energía que constituyen una auténtica experiencia visual al espectador.
La creación de su estilo se basa en la búsqueda de levantar emociones sobre el público, acostumbrado a los grandes eventos musicales, Guru Josh plasma esa vitalidad con una técnica pictórica de movimientos rápidos, bruscos y autómatas. Al igual que el expresionismo de finales del s. XIX, Guru Josh defiende un arte más personal e intuitivo, donde predomina la libertad individual y una expresión subjetiva e irracional del mundo a través de la deformación de los objetos.
Su proceso creativo también es una arte en sí mismo, crea pinturas sobre el suelo, alrededor de las cuales poder generar movimiento. Esto es clave en sus obras, las cuales están marcadas de movilidad y caos con un cierto orden en sí mismo. Utiliza la pintura, acrílica fundamentalmente, con todo su dinamismo y vitalidad, dejando que la pintura gotee y aplicándola con movimientos bruscos propios del “action painting”, Pollock y los artistas americanos de los años 40 y 60 también la utilizaban. Otra característica de sus obras es conocida como el “all-over”, que consiste en no dejar espacio sin pintar en sus obras. Obras sin marco, sin límites. Muy típico también del arte pop americano, junto con la utilización de objetos cotidianos convertidos en arte. Un auténtico espectáculo creativo.
La muestra, que ha sido concebida especialmente para las salas de la galería, pone al alcance del público la producción de un artista único que reflexiona acerca de la condición humana y la forma de expresar el arte con técnicas y soportes novedosos. Se muestran para la ocasión alrededor de 40 obras de diversos formatos, en las que el artista alterna entre la monumentalidad de obras de 100x150 cm, con otras de pequeño formato, donde se podrán ver aspectos fundamentales para entender la dimensión creativa de su obra, con técnicas basadas en la espontaneidad, el color, el tratamiento de temas prohibidos y el automatismo creativo propio de la inspiración y el carácter de los genios.
De él se ha dicho que es un artista original, vibrante, creador de escuela, genuino e incluso único e irrepetible. Arte 10 Galería sólo puede decir que hay que ver su obra para dejar que te llegue al corazón y te transmita la vitalidad de este artista lleno de buenas ideas.

Biografía
Paul Walden (6 junio de 1964 Jersey) más conocido por su nombre artístico Guru Josh es la figura pionera y emblemática de la industria de la música de baile que anotó un Top Five hit en toda Europa occidental en 1990 con "Infinity".
Desde pequeño se siente atraído por el arte pero seguirá los pasos de su padre, el dentista Harold Walden, hasta 1981, año en que finaliza su carrera de odontologia y decide volcarse definitivamente en la música. Al principio lo hace como animador y teclista en el club nocturno Sands de su ciudad natal. Walden actúa primero bajo el nombre de Syndrome, más tarde se convertiría en Animal and His Crazy Organs. Luego pone en marcha una productora y organiza diversas fiestas por toda la isla.
Con el dinero que consigue decide viajar a EEUU para seguir desarrollando su carrera como músico pero en sus 3 años de estancia allí solo consigue dos actuaciones. Instalado en la ciudad de San Francisco se pluriemplea como chófer de noche y dibujando edificios de la ciudad que luego vendía. En 1986 vuelve a Inglaterra convencido de que la música es su vida y Londres su ciudad. Regala todos sus bienes y posesiones a su amigo Gaza para evitar cualquier distracción y se dirije a probar suerte en la ciudad del Tamesis. Finalmente en Londres su carrera musical se ve espectacularmente catapultada.
En 1989 Paul Walden hace su debut como Guru Josh con “Infinity” que el DJ Micke Pickering defendió. A partir de entonces se convertirá en un icono del acid house británico de los 90 y le llevará a firmar un contrato con la famosa productora Deconstruction Records. En 1990 lanza el disco “Infinity (1990's… time for the guru) que le lleva a las listas de éxitos de toda Europa occidental. El tema “Infinity” ha sido remixado en numerosas ocasiones. En 2008 fue versionado por el deejay alemán DJ Klass bajo el nombre de “Infinity 2008” logrando ocupar de nuevo los primeros puestos del hit mundial con más de 200 millones de fans.
En 1991 se dedica a la producción multimedia, bajo el apelativo Dr Devious and The Wiseman, creando la serie de videos Dance in Cyberspace. Su personalidad polifacética le ha llevado por derroteros empresariales de diverso orden así como a actividades personales deportivas diversas como paracaidismo, fotografia aerea. Desde hace 10 años descansa y produce en Ibiza, su isla adoptiva favorita.
Sus revolucionarias piezas de arte sobre cristal vieron la luz por primera vez en 2006 en Dubai, Nueva York y Suiza. Su última colección se presentó en Italia (Boldano, 2010) y en España (Barcelona, 2011). En Ibiza recibe el reconocimiento de importantes críticos como Majory Althorpe Guyton, Directora de artes visuales del British Arts Council, que lo define como uno de esos artistas que aparece cada siglo para fascinar al mundo.

A Art 10, for its twenty-fifth anniversary, wishes with the exhibition of Guru Josh, to bear witness in its gallery to a new form of plastic
expression being put on the table the interrelationship between the art and the current music, between electronics and plastic art or
between house music and painting.
The works that make up the new artistic language of GJ have a very interesting, experimental charge and are scarcely exhibited in
the contemporary art scene. This collection, in addition to following a musical journey, recreates relevant reminiscences of Ibiza the
amazing light and sunsets ,the exaltation and pure joy present in the totally hedonistic Ibiza nightlife experience which welcomed and
adopted Guru Josh as a long lost son.
The gallery's atmosphere has been recreated with the basic tools with which the artist delights The Live public performance! De la
música al arte, Reflections, will be an authentic experimental exhibition, full of energy and creative vitality, where GJ transmits
personal feelings that will cause genuine experiences of audible and visual fusion on an improvised stage within and outside the
gallery.
The Arte10 Gallery for its XXV anniversary will be a full on party. He will interpret and improvise musical sets he has produced
exclusively for his pictorial premiere Reflections. These totally original musical sets will be a live and improvised music repertoire – if
the space is suitable - a piano, sax, and violin shall accompany the artist, and the performance will take place within and outside the
Gallery. The Infinity creator will mix electronic with blues, jazz and classical music, performing as a showman surrounded by his art.
Reflections is a turning point in the musical career of Guru Josh, and adds to the attractiveness of the musician and singer a new
dimension due to his talents as a artist, evoking a scene of musical and pictorial fusion, Josh brings a nostalgia to the european and
american expressionists that mold together plastically reminding us of Munch, Pollock, Lindström, Bacon and Miró himself, among
others.
The work of Guru Josh continues to explore broad creative territories, he never stops experimenting with numerous media (resins,
silicone compounds, liquid crystals and mixtures of color charged) growing in his attempt to forge a new artistic language, at times
three dimensional. Here at Arte 10 we are excited and it is with great pleasure in the anticipation we await the reaction of the art world
and public who attend to the experience of listening to Guru play his original music whilst viewing his art. thThe first reactions to the presence of this new artistic language may be seen on the inauguration day, to be held on the 18 February
at 21h.
The XXV anniversary will not end with the inauguration since during the Madrid afternoons of Arco 2014 in the Arte10 Gallery, in
addition to the sets improvised by Guru Josh, there will be some other performances, and the presence of one other young and
emerging Ibiza DJ.
Travelling exhibitions similar to Reflections are planned with new pictorial exhibitions, outstanding musical sets and events in
different continents and countries hand in hand with the most prestigious galleries and music spaces eager to introduce this new
creative discourse. Guru Josh has hundreds of millions of fans worldwide waiting for an amazing creative all new show like this.

The circumstance of having this larger than life character present in our gallery, gives his painting a respect and a reflection above any other consideration. The fact of solding more than 12 million copies of his single Infinity in 2008, has allowed Guru Josh to rub shoulders with the music world elite.
His British origin, the purity of his English accent and his powerfull voice, linked with reflective marked personality puts one in front of an exceptional artist. GJ has made his way in many projects precisely because he has always strived to deliver the best of himself such as is embodied in this acrylic collection, some of which are three-dimensional.
The Infinity creator likes to step away from academicism and to show subjective artistic revelations that will “pass“ from convention into use.Guru Josh perceives art as an automatic act, reckless and unpredictable based on his inspiration and absolute spontaneity.
His painting denotes a spontaneous quest in which he utilizes brushes, spatulas, fingers, keyboards, colors, paint cans,tools, media, notes, chords and Perspex. It is a fusion of surrealism and the abstract giving prominence to themes of experiences and forbidden passions and taboos.
This showman forges textures and changing colors, compositions and vibrant psychedelic images that reveal the universal in the musical events of the painter. But beware, there is no disorder in all of this. There is a perfectly controlled chaos that transmits sound beauty and recalls to the music-color fusion, to the mix of light, vibration, and sun. The colors of GJ are very passionate and great expressive power, yet despite all of this, Guru Josh retains and enjoys an artistic manifestation that is extremely personal.

Art is a human expression in which to convey ideas, emotions and a vision of the world. With Guru Josh and "Reflections", we see a
special vision of the world through the eyes and hands of Paul Walden (Guru Josh). This British artist, who in 1983 moved to the
United States to make music, and living only from the money he earnt from his crazy job paintings the skyscrapers of San Francisco.
Guru Josh, with his strong Renaissance man personality, open-minded and dedicated to the arts, ended up triumphing with Infinity
his great musical success.
Since 2010 he returned to his love for art and now he shows his passion to create in his exhibition in the Art 10 Gallery in Madrid, on
the occasion of the celebration of ARCO 2014. The work of Guru Josh explores the possibilities of research and the process of artistic
creation. Years of experimentation with hundreds of resins, silicone compounds, liquid crystal and binary color mixing that result in
works full of energy, colour providing an authentic rich visual experience to the viewer.
The quest to provoke the public´s emotions is the basis in the creation of his style. Accustomed to big musical events, Guru Josh
imposes that vitality through a pictorial technique of fast sudden and automatic movements. Equal to the expressionism of the end of
the XIX century, Guru Josh defends a more personal and intuitive art, where it individual freedom prevails and a subjective and
irrational expression of the world through the deformation of its objects.
His creative process is also an art in itself, he creates paintings on the ground, around which can generate movement. This is the key
in his works, which are marked by mobility and chaos with a certain order in itself. He uses paint, primarily acrylic, with all its
dynamism and vitality, leaving it up to the dripping paint and applying it with sudden movements like "action painting," Pollock and the
American artists from the 40's and 60's also used it. Another feature of his works is known as the "all-over", that is to not leave
unpainted space in his works. Works without a frame, without limits. This is very typical of the American pop art, along with the use of
everyday objects turned into art. This is an authentic creative spectacle.
The exhibition, which has been specially designed for the rooms of the gallery, makes available to the public the production of a truly
unique artist that reflects upon human condition and the way of expressing art with innovative techniques. He will exhibit around 40
works in various formats, in which the artist alternates between the monumental works of 100x150 cm and others with small format,
where you can see fundamental aspects to understand the creative dimension of his work, with techniques based on spontaneity,
color, treatment of forbidden subjects inspired by the nature of his automatism, combined with the collective influence of all the
creative geniuses whose work he admires.
It has been said that Guru Josh is an original artist, vibrant, genuine unique and unrepeatable. Art 10 Gallery can only say that his
work must be seen so it may it reach into your heart and transmit to you the vitality of this artist who is filled with a burning desire and
passion to create stimulate and provoke.

Paul Walden (June 6 .1964 Jersey) is better known by his artistic name Guru Josh.He is a pioneer and emblematic figure in the
dance music industry who is responsible for the huge electronic music anthem Infinity which toped the charts all over Europe in 1990
and when remixed and released in 2008 exceeded this going global with over 12million sales and hundreds of millions of youtube
viewers among his worldwide fanbase.
From an early age Paul was atracted to art but after following in his father Harolds footsteps and studying to be a dentist Paul decided
in 1981 to abandon his studies and concentrate on music.He began his musical career as an animator playing his keyboard at Sands
nightclub on his home island of Jersey. Paul first was known as Syndrome ,and later changed his name to Animal and his Crazy
Organs. Paul then started to organize and produce various festivals throughout the island .
In 1983 paul decided that to widen his opportunities he must travel to California, installing himself in San Francisco. Musical
opportunities are limited and in three years Paul only does two shows but has amazing experiences starting a luxury car taxi service
to the stars at nightime whist painting the exterior of San Franciscos skyscrapers during the day. Realising that his music career is
going nowhere in the US in 1986 Paul returns to London convinced that here in this city he can make his musical career take off. In
order to avoid distracctions Paul gives his succesful chauffer company to his friend Gaza and returns to london with little funds but a
huge determination to make his career happen!
In 1989 Paul hits gold with his track infinity which catapults Guru Josh to stardom,all over Europe they are calling Guru to come and
play at their festivals to appear on TV and share his magic.Famous Hacienda legend and head of Deconstruction recors Mike
Pickering finally succeeeds in signing the Guru to his labeland the album Infinity 1990 time for the Guru follows to critical acclaim.
In 2008 Klass a german remixer along with GuruJosh created Infinity 2008 which goes on to be among the greatest and most
succesful dance music tracks of all time winning the famous Miami Winter Music Conference track of the year and achieving the
number one spot all over the world. Guru Josh would spend the next three years playing live with his sax player Diva all over the world

In 1991 in the studio he had built in his house in London Paul created the series of animated videos titled Dr Devious and the
Wisemen,with titles such as Lost in Silly Space. These were the first videos of this type and were very successful.
Pauls first experiments with his revolutionary art took place in 2006 and in 2007 he took these early pieces to exhibit in New York and
Dubai. As his work evolved Paul presented it at the famous Kuntart Contemporary art fair in Bolzano in 2010 and held a one man
show in Barcelona at Galeria Zero in 2011 which was favorably reviewed in the arts section of El Pais.
In Ibiza after visiting his studio in Ibiza Majorie Althorpe Guyton ( Director of Visual Arts at The British Arts Council and President of
The International Association of Art Critics) described Guru Josh as "one of those naif artists with no formal training that come along
once or twice every hundred years and take the art world by storm"
