¿Cómo se desarrolló Jesús? Según Lucas 2:52, “Jesús crecía en sabiduría y en estatura, y en gracia para con Dios y los hombres”. Y nosotros creemos que los jóvenes deben desarrollarse de la misma manera. Al combinar Lucas 2:52 con el Sermón del Monte, el Ministerio de Jóvenes de LifeWay ha desarrollado una estrategia que preparará a los jóvenes para CONOCER a Dios, POSEER su fe y COMPARTIR su fe.

El señorío y el discipulado son fundamentales para que los jóvenes CONOZCAN a Cristo. Según ellos se desarrollen, no tan solo reconocerán y responderán al señorío de Cristo, sino que además comenzarán a practicar las disciplinas espirituales—desarrollar habilidades tales como la oración, la memorización de las Escrituras y la mayordomía.

¿Qué hace que el joven se POSEE de su fe? El carácter y el discernimiento son esenciales. A medida que los jóvenes se desarrollen, demuestren el carácter de Cristo y comiencen a confiar en la autoridad de las Escrituras, tomarán decisiones sabias y asumirán responsabilidades por dichas decisiones.

COMPARTIR a Cristo es la expresión externa del desarrollo espiritual interno de los jóvenes y esto es notable en las relaciones que ellos desarrollan y la influencia que tienen. Los jóvenes harán un impacto en otros luego de desarrollar relaciones que honren a Dios.

How did Jesus develop? According to Luke 2:52, He “increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and with people,” and we believe students should develop the same way. By combining Luke 2:52 with the Sermon on the Mount, LifeWay Student Ministry has developed a strategy that will equip students to KNOW God, OWN their faith, and make their faith KNOWN.

Lordship and discipleship are foundational for students to KNOW Christ. As students develop, not only will they recognize and respond to the lordship of Christ, they will begin to practice spiritual disciplines—developing skills such as prayer, Scripture memory, and stewardship.

What does it take for a student to OWN his or her faith? Character and discernment are essentials. As students develop and demonstrate Christ’s character and begin to trust the authority of Scripture, they will make wise decisions and assume responsibility for those decisions.

Making Christ KNOWN is the outward expression of a student’s inward spiritual development and is seen in the relationships students develop and influence they possess. As students develop godly relationships, they will make an intentional impact on others.

Un lado está en español y el otro lado en inglés. El plan de enseñanza le indicará cómo usar la guía del alumno durante la clase.

No debe entregar el libro completo a los alumnos. Antes de cada clase debe desprender las hojas necesarias para ese estudio bíblico. Provea una hoja (handout) para cada alumno en la clase. El libro (guía del alumno) debe permanecer en el salón de clase o con usted. El alumno debe llevarse a casa la hoja que se usa durante la clase cada semana.

How to use REALThere are three pieces that will help you have a strong Bible study experience.

Leader GuideStart here. The “Overview” page gives you “the big picture” of what the study is about. As you prepare and as you lead the class, focus on answering the “Life Question.” Everything you do during the class time should help students understand the “Biblical Truth” and make application to their lives.

Teaching Plan. This is your road map for leading students in Bible study. It will guide you to have an interactive Bible study using both the learner guide handout and items from the leader pack.

Personal Bible Study. These pages will get you deeper into the Bible passage. Let God use it to teach you before you teach your students.

Leader PackThe leader pack provides:•Posters•Handouts•Reproducible items•Ease-of-use items

The teaching plan will draw attention to these items and guide you in how to use them.

Learner Guide

The learner guide is a collection of single-sheet handouts to use both during class and after class. Both sides of the handout are identical, but one side is in Spanish and the other side is in English. The teaching plan will direct you in ways to use the handout during the class.

Do not give the entire book to the students; instead, prior to class, pull off the handout needed for that particular Bible study. Provide one handout for each student in the class. The book should stay in the classroom (or with you), but the handout should go home with the student each week.

Teaching Tip: Don’t lecture. Never tell students something they can discover on their own.

Why This Study?

Students often hear the challenge to serve God, but what does that mean? Service is an expected part of the Christian life, but many students need guidance in knowing how to live out a life of service. This study will provide a foundation for understanding the basics of ministry – the motivation and general qualities all servants and ministers need – and the role our finances play in ministry. As these three basics become foundational in student’s lives, they can move more confidently into specific areas of service.

PanoramaPaul explained that his competence as a minister came from God. Paul renounced any behavior that would have been inappropriate to his calling. He focused his message on Christ, and he knew that eternal matters were more significant than his present afflictions.

Prepárese¿Qué necesito?Divida el grupo en dos o tres equipos. Entregue a cada equipo una hoja de papel, una pluma de tinta negra y varios lápices de colores, crayones o marcadores, no incluya los colores rojo y azul, asegúrese que el amarillo esté incluido. Pídales que seleccionen un miembro de su equipo que será el artista y los demás ayudarán a completar las instrucciones. Diga: Usando solamente los materiales provistos, seguirán una serie de instrucciones. El equipo que termine primero ganará. Introduzca el estudioDiga: Hoy iniciamos una nueva unidad titulada “El Ministerio bien hecho”. Dirija la atención de los alumnos al cartel de la unidad “El Ministerio bien hecho” (ítem 1). Corte el título de la sesión de hoy y péguelo al cartel de la unidad. Pídales que lo lean. Si no tiene el paquete de ayudas para la enseñanza, escriba los títulos en la pizarra o cartulina. Seleccione un voluntario que lea en voz alta la “Pregunta clave” en la Guía del alumno. Asegúreles que la lección de hoy les ayudara a contestar esa pregunta.

Estudie la Palabra1. Las credenciales necesarias (2 Cor. 2:14-17; 3:4-5)Seleccione un alumno para leer en voz alta 2 Corintios 2:14-17. Diga: Para servir a Dios, primero debemos obtener las credenciales necesarias. Explíqueles que nadie es adecuado para servir, solamente por su gracia Dios nos capacita y nos extiende la invitación para servirle. Diga: El verdadero ministerio es el servicio hecho con el poder de Dios. Enfatice que esa habilidad o competencia para el ministerio es una credencial necesaria y viene directamente de Dios.

Lea 2 Corintios 3:4-5. Pregunte: ¿Según este pasaje, de dónde viene nuestra habilidad o competencia? Resalte que ministrar a otros no puede realizarse con nuestras propias credenciales. Diga: Servir a Cristo requiere que nos enfoquemos en lo que Dios puede hacer a través de nosotros, no en lo que por nosotros mismos podamos lograr. Diríjalos a la actiuvidad “Las habilidades vienen de Dios” en la Guía del alumno. Permítales unos minutos para contestar las preguntas. Pida voluntarios para que compartan la respuesta de la segunda pregunta. Después de escucharlos, explíque: Así como Dios en el pasado ha actuado a favor de ellos, Él hará lo mismo para darles las aptitudes y el poder para enfrentar los retos al ministrar.

Opción: Las credenciales necesariasReúna imágenes de varios profesionales que necesitan tener las credenciales necesarias para ejercer su profesión, tales como un cirujano, o un instructor de paracaidismo. En una hoja de papel por separado escriba brevemente una descripción del trabajo especializado de estos profesionistas. Instruya a los alumnos que lean estas descripciones y las unan a la imagen correcta. Diga: Estos profesionales pueden realizar su trabajo solo porque han recibido las credenciales necesarias de las instituciones apropiadas. Explíqueles que esto es similar en nuestro rol como cristianos; podemos ser siervos o ministros solo porque hemos recibido las credenciales necesarias de parte de Dios.

Get Ready What Do I Need?Divide students into two or three teams. Distribute to each team a sheet of paper, a black ink pen, and various color pencils, crayons, or markers. Among the colors distributed, don’t include the color blue or red, but ensure that the color yellow is included. Instruct students to choose a team member to serve as the team’s artist and the remaining members will assist in completing the instructions. Say: Using only the materials provided, you will follow a set of instructions. The team that finishes first, wins. Give students the following instructions:Using the pen, draw a circle. Next, draw a triangle. Finally, draw a heart. Now color in the heart red, the square yellow, and the circle blue. Give students a minute to realize the instructions cannot be completed. Ask: Why was your team not able to complete the instructions? (Don’t have right materials or qualities required). Allow for responses.

Introduce the StudySay: Today we begin a new unit titled Ministry Done Right. Call their attention to the unit poster Leader Pack “Ministry Done Right” (item 1). Cut and attach on the unit poster the title for today’s session. Read the title for this session. If you don’t have the leader pack, write the unit and session titles on the board. Choose student to read aloud the “Life Question” in the Real Learner Guide. Point out that today’s study will help them answer this question.

Study the Word1. The Right Credentials (2 Cor. 2:14-17; 3:4-5)Direct a student to read aloud 2 Corinthians 2:14-17. Say: To serve God, first we need the right credentials. Explain that no one is adequate for ministry; only by His grace God equips us and extends the privilege of participating in His ministry. Say: True ministry is God-empowered ministry. Emphasize that competence for ministry is a credential we need and it comes directly from God.

Read 2 Corinthians 3:4-5. Ask: According to this passage, where does our competence come from? Point out that ministry to others cannot be done out of our own credentials. Say: Serving Christ requires that we focus on what God can do through us, not on what we can do by ourselves. Direct students to “Competence Comes from God” in the Learner guide. Allow a few minutes for students to answer the questions. Ask for volunteers to share their answers to the second question only. After receiving their answers, explain: Just as God acted on their behalf in the past, He will do the same to empower them to overcome the challenges and have competence for ministry.

Option: The Right CredentialsGather images of various professionals who must have the right credentials to perform their professional duties, such as surgeon or skydiving instructor. On separate sheets of paper, write brief descriptions of the specialized work these professionals perform. Instruct students to read the job descriptions and match descriptions with the correct image. Say: Professionals can perform their services only because they have received the right credentials from the proper organizations. Explain this is similar to our role as Christians; we can be ministers only because we receive the right credentials from God.

of the internal transformation that the Holy Spirit is performing in us. Say: Verse 18 speaks of Christians as being transformed to be more like Jesus; this is a process that takes place one day at a time, through a daily walk with God. Say: Sometimes people try to live a Christian lifestyle without having their hearts changed by God. There are many people, even in churches, who claim to be Christians but are not. They try to look like Christians on the outside, but inside their hearts there is no commitment, no transformation. Remind students that such people are not being transformed because they do not have a personal relationship with Jesus. Ask: What evidence do you see of youself being transformed?

Direct students to read “Define It” in the Learner guide. Explain that character is visible through actions. We cannot minister without reflecting Christ’s character. Say: As Christians we have a relationship with Jesus and His character should be reflected in us. Explain that we reflect Christ by serving others and ministering to their needs, and that we can expect to have our character and methods scrutinized by others. Say: Our Christian character and actions are being constantly watched and evaluated. When inner character doesn’t match outer actions, a person has no integrity. Remind students that others around us hear what we proclaim, but they want to see it displayed in our words, actions, and attitudes.

3. The Right Focus (2 Cor. 4:5-6, 16-18)Say: Finally, to serve God, we need to have the right focus. Direct a student to read aloud 2 Corinthians 4:5-6. Say: Our focus is on Jesus, and only Him, because He is the only truth and light. Explain that when we share this message with others, the focus is the gospel of Jesus Christ. We don’t need to rely on cleverness or attention-grabbers. Say: We must present Jesus’ message clearly because only He can give eternal life. Any other focus blocks the way for people to understand the good news of Jesus. Explain that our society is filled with “new” religions, cults, charms, and idolatry. Emphasize that we must hold firm to the conviction that Jesus Christ is not just one option among many.

Make copies of Leader Pack “World Religions/Beliefs” (item 2) to distribute to each student and ask them to review the information. If you don’t have the Leader Pack, you can purchase the chart at www.nambstore.com or compile information about the religions/beliefs mentioned below from books or by searching the internet. Form two teams and give them a few minutes to work. Direct Team #1 to compare the beliefs of Muslims and Catholics to that of Christianity and direct Team #2 to compare the beliefs of Jehovah’s Witness and Mormons to that of Christianity. Let each team read some of the details compiled aloud. Point out details that are close to the truth, cause confusion, and get in the way of people seeing the truth. Explain that Satan wants to twist the truth by providing “alternative solutions.” Say: The problem is separation from God. The solution is forgiveness of sin through Jesus Christ. We must recognize that there is only one truth and one way. Read aloud 2 Corinthians 4:16-18. Say: Our focus is on experiencing inner strength from the Holy Spirit to continue no matter what circumstances are in our lives. We cannot minister without the right focus on Christ and on the truth of eternal life. Encourage students to focus on eternity rather than the temporary circumstances of life.

Apply the WordSay: Christians have everything needed to serve God. We are to minister under the authority of Jesus, reflect His character, and focus on Him because He is the truth. Direct students to work on “Engrave It in Your Heart” in the learner guide. After a few minutes, guide students in a time of prayer, and lead them to commit themselves to minister to others. Encourage students to complete at home the “Engrave It in Your Mind” and “Live It!” in the Learner Guide.

1. Las credenciales necesarias (2 Cor. 2:14-17; 3:4-5)

Algunos cuestionaban a Pablo por haber cambiado su plan de visitar Corinto durante un período de conflicto en la iglesia (2 Cor. 1:15 – 2:4). ¿Era digno de confianza Pablo? ¿Le faltaban agallas para una confrontación cara a cara? 1. The Right Credentials (2 Cor. 2:14-17; 3:4-5)

Paul’s credentials were at issue in the Corinthian church. Some questioned Paul for changing his plan to make a visit to Corinth during a period of conflict in the church (2 Cor. 1:15–2:4). Was he trustworthy? Did he lack boldness for face-to-face confrontation (2 Cor. 10:1)? Some took his refusal to accept their financial support as an insult (1 Cor. 9:11-12; 2 Cor. 11:7; 12:13). Some questioned his preaching and persona as compared with others (1 Cor. 1:12; 2 Cor. 10:10). Why wasn’t he more impressive in his speaking ability and appearance (2 Cor. 11:5; 12:11)? Paul wrote 2 Corinthians in part to explain the nature of his ministry and his credentials for engaging in it.

Paul said that God leads us to triumph in Christ. (“Us” may refer to Paul and his coworkers or may be a literary way that he referred to himself.) The phrase can be translated as “puts us on display” or “leads us in a triumphal procession.” The Roman victory parade is probably the background of Paul’s words. After winning a great battle, the victorious Roman general marched through the city streets in a triumphal procession leading conquered enemies in procession. Suffering captives were put on display to reveal the victor’s greatness. God put Paul on display as a captive who now rejoiced willingly in Christ’s triumph! All of us were enemies of God (Rom. 5:10) whom Christ “conquered” with sacrificial love (v. 8). “A sweet savor of Christ” further suggests revelation of Christ through Paul’s life. The fragrance of Christ echoes Old Testament descriptions of sacrifices to God. Noah offered burnt offerings, and the Lord smelled the pleasing aroma (Gen. 8:21). God instructed Moses to use a unique blend of fragrant spices for use on the altar of incense in the tabernacle (Ex. 30:34-38). When God’s people smelled this fragrance, they knew it was associated with the Lord Himself. Paul’s life as a minister of Christ was like a pleasing aroma to God, and was as poignant to those around him as rare incense is to our noses.

Antes de responder directamente, el apóstol insiste en que él no es como muchos, que estaban en el ministerio para medrar falsificando la palabra de Dios para ganancia personal o por alguna otra razón. As the fragrance of Christ spread through Paul it had its effect on everyone. Those who were being saved, embraced Paul’s message and ministry as the scent of life. Those who were perishing rejected the revelation as the scent of death.

Under such a great weight of responsibility Paul asked, “who is sufficient for these things?” Before answering this question directly, Paul stressed that he was not in ministry to make a trade in God’s message or to turn a profit from the Corinthians. He was not like a vendor in the marketplace who changed the message or engaged in trickery to make a sale. On the contrary, Paul said he spoke as from God and before God. He knew he was sent from God and would give account to God for his ministry.

In 2 Corinthians 3:4-5, Paul turned directly to the question of competence, a basic credential for ministry. He said boldly that he had confidence in God through Christ. Paul fully expected to be effective in ministry by rightly revealing Christ, but he was not confident in himself. He frankly said that it was not that we are competent in ourselves. Paul did not draw from his own inexhaustible reservoir of strength, love, power, wisdom, or perseverance for ministry. Likewise, we all are insufficient. But God is fully sufficient! Paul said our competence is from God.

2. The Right Character (2 Cor. 3:18–4:2)

Second Corinthians 3:18 states that now we all are “with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord.” This suggests that we see the full glory of God as it is reflected upon us in Christ Jesus. We gaze upon the glory reflected in Christ and this has a transforming effect on us.

We are being transformed into the same image. Our transformation is into the image of Christ in whom we see the glory of the Lord. God is always at work to conform us to the image of His Son (Rom. 8:28-29). This transforming work is from the Lord who is the Spirit. Paul envisioned an ongoing work of the Spirit that continues from when we turn to Christ through when we are fully like Christ. First, the Spirit enables us to turn to Christ and live in freedom (2 Cor. 3:3, 6, 16-17). Then the Spirit engages in our ongoing transformation into the image of Christ (v. 18).

Nuestro llamado al ministerio exige que tengamos el carácter correcto; y si ejercitamos ese carácter en nuestro trabajo, será evidente para todos los que estén dispuestos a verlo. Pablo dijo: Por lo cual, teniendo nosotros este ministerio […], no desmayamos. Dios había llamado a Pablo al ministerio, y el Espíritu de Dios estaba obrando en él y a través de él; por ello, estaba decidido a perseverar. Pablo podría haberse desanimado por muchas cosas: problemas físicos, persecuciones, las críticas de los corintios, y las caídas éticas de otros cristianos. Pablo perseveró porque confiaba que, según el ministerio del Espíritu, al sembrar con fidelidad resultaría en una cosecha (Gál. 6:8-9).

Pablo continúa diciendo que él había renunciado a lo oculto y vergonzoso, y que no andaba con astucia. Como ya hemos mencionado, algunos cuestionaban el cambio de planes de Pablo en cuanto a la visita a Corinto (2 Cor. 1:15 – 2:4). Veremos, en 2 Corintios 4:5, que Pablo insiste nuevamente en que él era fiel al mensaje de Dios. Su insistencia en ese punto nos permite apreciar cuán importante era esto para Pablo.

Right character shows through in behavior in keeping with our calling. Paul said, “Therefore, seeing we have this ministry … we faint not.” God had called Paul to ministry and the Spirit was at work in and through him; therefore, he was determined to persevere. Paul could have been discouraged by many things—physical hardships, persecutions, criticism from the Corinthians, and the ethical lapses of Christians. Paul persevered, however, confident that in the ministry of the Spirit, faithful sowing would result in a harvest (Gal. 6:8-9).

Paul went on to say that he had renounced walking in deceit. As I mentioned above, some questioned Paul’s change of plans for a visit to Corinth (2 Cor. 1:15–2:4). They may have believed he announced a visit deceitfully or treated lightly his own word. He explained to them, however, that he did intend to visit, but changed his plans and sent Titus because it was better for the Corinthians at that time to receive Paul’s message by letter, rather than in a painful face to face confrontation (2 Cor. 2:1-2).

With regard to his behavior, Paul also wrote that he did not engage in distorting God’s message. On the contrary, he gave an open display of God’s truth. God put Paul on display (2 Cor. 2:14) and in turn Paul put God’s truth on display. Paul spoke with sincerity before God as an appointed messenger, not to make a trade in God’s message (2 Cor. 2:17). He changed nothing to please the hearers. We will see again in 2 Corinthians 4:5 Paul’s insistence that he was faithful to the message. We can appreciate how important this was to Paul by how much he hammered it home!

In all of his behavior Paul showed that the Spirit was at work in him to transform him into the image of Christ. This should be true of us also as Christ’s ministers.

3. The Right Focus (2 Cor. 4:5-6, 16-18)

Though Paul defended his ministry to the Corinthians, he insisted we are not proclaiming ourselves. His defense of himself was not self-promotion, but explanation of how his ministry was true to the gospel. Instead of promoting himself, Paul was proclaiming Jesus Christ as Lord. Genuine transformation of human hearts happens as the

transforma genuinamente a los corazones humanos por la proclamación y la fe activa puesta en el Señor Jesús (2 Cor. 3:18). Pablo se concentraba en conocer y predicar a “Jesucristo, y a éste crucificado” (1 Cor. 2:2). No se esforzaba por impresionar a las personas con su propia sabiduría o elocuencia (1:23). Sabía que el poder de Dios está en el evangelio, no en las demostraciones humanas.

Este enfoque en Jesucristo como Señor implica que aquel que ministra no es señor. Los verdaderos ministros son siervos por causa de Jesús. Pablo no quería decir que recibía sus órdenes de los corintios, sino que servir a Cristo implicaba servir a los corintios. Jesús mismo “no vino para ser servido, sino para servir, y para dar su vida” (Mar. 10:45). El ministerio no es para promovernos a nosotros mismos, sino para servir a otros bajo el señorío de Cristo.

¿Por qué el apóstol se concentraba en Jesucristo el Señor? Porque Dios le había dado la iluminación del conocimiento de la gloria de Dios en la faz de Jesucristo. En el camino a Damasco, Pablo recibió una gran revelación de Dios, estando Cristo en el centro de esa experiencia. Cristo se reveló a Pablo con una luz más brillante que la del sol (Hech. 9:3; 26:13). En la creación, Dios, […] mandó que de las tinieblas resplandeciese la luz. En la revelación hecha en el camino a Damasco, Dios hizo de Pablo una nueva creación.

Luego de comprender los propósitos que Dios tiene en medio de las dificultades del ministerio, Pablo repite: no desmayamos. El desgaste de las aflicciones en el cuerpo de Pablo era evidente: este nuestro hombre exterior se va desgastando. Pero, aun en medio de estas dificultades, el hombre interior de Pablo se renovaba de día en día. Su existencia mortal se iba acabando. Su declinación física era acelerada por los encarcelamientos, los golpes, las pedradas, los naufragios, el hambre, la sed, el frío y otras aflicciones (2 Cor. 11:23-27). Al mismo tiempo, el hombre interior de Pablo, que había sido creado nuevo en Cristo para florecer para siempre (2 Cor. 5:17), estaba progresando “de gloria en gloria” (2 Cor. 3:18). Pablo sabía que al final, Cristo “transformará el cuerpo de la humillación nuestra, para que sea semejante al cuerpo de la gloria suya” (Fil. 3:21).

La aflicción en sí misma es útil para nuestra transformación, ya que produce en nosotros un cada vez más excelente y eterno peso de gloria. Pablo dice en otro pasaje que “padecemos juntamente con él, para que juntamente con él seamos glorificados” (Rom. 8:17). Jesús sufrió en el camino a la gloria. Nosotros compartimos sus sufrimientos en el camino a compartir su gloria.

Spirit works through proclamation of and active faith in Jesus as Lord (2 Cor. 3:18). Paul focused on knowing and preaching “Jesus Christ, and him crucified” (1 Cor. 2:2). He did not strive to impress people with his own wisdom or eloquence (1:23). He knew that God’s power is in the gospel, not showmanship.

The focus on Jesus Christ as Lord implies that the one ministering is not lord! True ministers are slaves because of Jesus. Paul did not mean that he took his orders from the Corinthians, but that serving Christ involved serving the Corinthians. Jesus Himself did not come to be served, but to serve and to give His life (Mark 10:45). Ministry is not about promoting ourselves, but about serving others under Christ’s lordship.

The reason for Paul’s focus on Christ as Lord follows:

God gave the light of the knowledge of God’s glory in the face of Jesus Christ. On the road to Damascus, Paul had received a great revelation from God with Christ squarely at the center. Christ revealed Himself to Paul in light greater than the sun (Acts 9:3; 26:13). In creation God decreed that light would shine out of darkness. In the Damascus road revelation, God made a new creation out of Paul.

Understanding God’s purposes in the hardships of ministry, Paul again said we do not give up. The toll of the hardships was obvious in Paul’s body—our outer person is being destroyed. In these hardships, however, Paul’s inner person was being renewed. His mortal existence was winding down. The decline was hastened by imprisonments, beatings, hunger, thirst, cold, and other afflictions (2 Cor. 11:23-27). At the same time, Paul’s inner person, which had been created anew in Christ to thrive forever (2 Cor. 5:17), was progressing “from glory to glory” (2 Cor. 3:18). Paul knew that ultimately Christ will transform the body of our humble condition into the likeness of His glorious body (Phil. 3:21).

Affliction itself is instrumental in our transformation, producing for us an absolutely incomparable eternal weight of glory. Paul said elsewhere that we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him (Rom. 8:17). Jesus suffered on the way to glory. We share in His sufferings on the way to sharing in His glory.

Cuando concentramos nuestra visión en las cosas invisibles y eternas, podemos soportar y aun regocijarnos, incluso en medio de las dificultades presentes.

Paul did not morbidly focus on and desire suffering, yet he rejoiced in suffering (Col. 1:24). He was able to do so because he did not focus on what is seen. Instead he focused on what is unseen. We do not see with earthly eyes the eternal glory that lies ahead. Further, the Spirit’s work to renew the inner person through affliction is not directly visible to mortal eyes. As we focus our attention on the unseen, eternal things we are able to endure and even rejoice in difficulties.
