Hybrids Have Been AroundLonger than You Think!

This car, made by the Krieger Company in 1903, was one of thousands of electric and hybrid cars being produced at the time. It used a gasoline engine to supplement a battery pack. Henry Ford’s assembly line and the advent of the self-starting gas engine signaled the rapid decline in hybrid cars by 1920.

• Simple Energy Efficiency (i.e. car tuned up & clean,

tires fully inflated, smooth driving)

• Energy Conservation (i.e. combining trips, driving less)

• And other alternatives(transit, bikes, walking, etc.)
