    Utilidad diagnstica de la biopsia por puncin-aspiracin con aguja fina

    cuada y hayan sido preparadas, fijadas y teidas ade-cuadamente. La mezcla del aspirado con sangre, la fija-

    cin defectuosa y el material escaso pueden ocasionar errores de interpretacin. A pesar de todo, aun cono-ciendo las limitaciones del mtodo de PAAF, conside-

    ramos que resulta de gran utilidad ante cualquier masa de glndula salival. En algunos casos incluso, mediante la PAAF se obtienen pequeos fragmentos tisulares

    que, fijados en formaldehdo e incluidos en parafina, permiten un verdadero examen histolgico. El diagns-

    tico citolgico permite obviar la cituga en procesos no tumorales y, en los tumorales, establecer conductas teraputicas preoperatorias y planificar el tipo de inter-vencin quirrgica a priori, con las ventajas de la rapi-

    dez diagnstica, un bajo coste econmico y mnimas molestias para el paciente.
