Humanizing the spaces we inhabit
Humanizando
Hospitality is defined as the friendly reception and treatment of a guest in a warm and generous way, just as you would like to be received yourself.
The concept of hospitality is focused on the customer´s satisfaction to accomplish distinct experiences. Being one of the fastest growing industries, hospitality considers a broad category of fields within services industry that includes lodging, food and beverages, and catering.
To create new ways to inhabit, feel and explore the space, is the main purpose of hospitality environments.
The challenge to humanize the spaces starts by focusing on the customer´s behavioral patterns and distinct needs. Plus adapting to new ways of socialization and entertainment, it creates opportunities for interactive engagement within the current generations.

Because of the increasing competition, dynamism and category development, restaurants are being challenged to rethink their offer. This is achieved by presenting memorable experiences that blend coherently its gastronomic proposal and the concept of the restaurant itself.

Creating a beautiful restaurant whose charm contributes to the performance is not so simple. It is necessary to conduct research about each of the main attributes to communicate the traits that make it unique, and relevant for the customers, therefore emotionally connecting with them.
Designing a restaurant is a combination of functionality and aesthetics. Such is the existing competition that the visual factor is essential to differentiate from others, however, you cannot lose sight of the functionality in a business, in which any link can break the chain of the customer experience.

Furniture selection is one of the most critical points of design. Sometimes it is not uncommon to find that this activity is not aligned with the design of the kitchen, with the restaurant's layout, with its functionality, or market segment. This is diminishes the harmony between the image and communication, but most important, implies a dysfunction to the comfort of the client.
The furniture in a restaurant seeks a balance among two different objectives: comfort and adequate rotation of customers. While the first objective must be guaranteed to attract them and have them come back, the second one, is crucial to make the number of tables and chairs profitable. In both cases, the same language must be spoken in all spaces, and thus generate a harmonious identity that promotes the same values.

Although food chain restaurants have a clear concept line, they have become more flexible in every new opening in terms of interior space layout, including global trends to create new expectations.

Franchises demand functional spaces to easily replicate their settled configuration. The furniture needs to comply with characteristics such as standardization and/or customization, in addition, high traffic requires to have lasting materials that enable easy maintenance.
When implementing a business model that requires efficiency and functionality, it is significantly important to ensure the availability of stock for future openings or replacements, and thus give continuity to the brand image identity.

The lobby is the first impression and the emotional bond with guests. It is characterized by being in motion all the time and therefore, must offer the option to wait, relax, work or eventually have business meetings.
It is ideal to incorporate comfortable furniture, such as lounge chairs and sofas, that provide cozy and comfy environments, and which, in turn, highlight the concept of the hotel.
Hotels rooms adapt decorative home objects to make visitors feel as if they were in their own home. Natural lighting, biophilic design, or materials with soft and warm textures, are necessary to provide well-being at its best.
Currently, there are many hotel chains that specialize in business travelers, which require spaces that integrate technology with rest and work areas.

Food courts integrate service agility and freedom to choose among multiple gastronomic options. These variables demand the shopping mall to optimize the furniture layout in order be able to receive more clients.
These spaces require different microenvironments that can contribute aesthetically and functionally to the design of the food court, and become attractive for the different interest groups that visit the shopping mall; such as areas for leisure time as a couple, with our family, friends or by yourself.

The shopping centers halls have suffered a deep transformation in the last years, from being unattractive zones with rigid furniture, to becoming spaces where people can share and enjoy entertaining moments.

Auditoriums are becoming strategic. The growing need for spaces to hold group activities either for training or introducing new business ideas, require special characteristics of lighting, temperature, acoustics and color. A flexible furniture allows to create different settings to adapt to various activities.
Offices in shopping malls must be able to gather nomad and permanent employees, as well as gig economy contractors.
The office design must take into consideration the different work style needs, to provide an accurate space distribution.
