El verbo TO BE, que en castellano se traduce como ser o estar , en el idioma inglés goza de una particular importancia. Su significado depende del sentido de la oración .

Por ejemplo:

I am a doctor. Soy un doctor.(se aplica como verbo ser)

I am in my house. Estoy en mi casa.(se aplica como verbo estar)

Pasado del verbo TO BE

El pasado del verbo TO BE se traduce como: “ fue” o “estuvo” y se va conjugando el verbo para cada pronombre como muestra la diapositiva anterior.Se utiliza “was y were” para indicar el pasado.

Ejemplos del Pasado del verbo TO BE:

I was at school yesterday.(Yo fui a la escuela ayer) Ej Was i at school yesterday?/Yes, I was –No, I was not/ 1 I was not at school yesterday.

She was in my house.(ella estubo en mi casa) Ej Was she in my house./Yes, She is – No, She in not/ 2 She was not in my house.

They were at cinema last week.(ellos fueron al cine la Ej semana pasada) 3 Were they at cinema last week?/Yes, they were –No, They were not/ They were not at cinema last week. We were in San Luis last holidays.(nosotros estubimos en San Luis las Ej pasadas vaciones) 4 Were We in San Luis last holiday?/Yes, We were – No, We were not/ We were not in San Luis last holiday.

Ejemplos del pasado simple :

She wathed TV.(Yo mire TV) Ej Did she watche TV?/Yes, She did –No, She did not 1 She did not watch TV.

He wrote a letter.(El escribe una con carta) Ej Did he write a letter?/Yes, He did –No, He did/ 2 He did not a letter. We worked at factory.(nosotros trabajamos en la fabrica) Ej Did we work at factory?./Yes, We did- No, We did not / 3 We did not work at factory. El presente continuo También llamados progresivos porque cuando los usamos,

normalmente, es para indicar que la acción se está desarrollando en el momento de hablar.

Claro que también lo podemos usar para expresar una acción que aún no ha ocurrido pero que va a tener lugar en un futuro muy cercano y que eh planificado con anterioridad.

E. incluso para indicar que una acción no esta concluida pero se prevé que continúe.

Al verbo principal e le agrega “ing” que es un gerundio de significado “ando” endo”
