Sociedad de Clasificación
Concepto:
Organización internacional sin fines de lucro que a través de normativas de la OMI o propias, regula, sugiere y controla las características de construcción, equipos y sistemas para asegurar el transporte de la carga y la vida de la tripulación en el mar. De esta manera las compañías aseguradoras cubren o no la nave y su carga.

Sociedad de Clasificación• Las Sociedades de Clasificación son
organizaciones no gubernamentales o grupos de profesionales sin ánimo de lucro, con el objetivo de promover la seguridad de la vida humana y propiedades (buques y plataformas offshore) así como la protección del entorno natural marino. Esto se consigue gracias al desarrollo de Reglas de Clasificación, la confirmación de que el diseño de los buques cumple con dichas reglas, la inspección de los buques durante el periodo de construcción y las inspecciones periódicas para confirmar que los buques continúan cumpliendo dichas reglas.WIKIPEDIA 2014Prof. Gerardo J. • La Asociación Internacional de Sociedades de Clasificación (IACS), con sede en Londres, representa a las diez Sociedades de Clasificación más importantes del mundo. IACS se fundó inicialmente con las siete sociedades líderes en 1968. Actualmente sus miembros son: ABS, BV, CCS, DNV, GL, KR, LR, NK, Rina y RS.

Sociedad de Clasificación ABS Control station 4-1-1/1.9.1• A location where controllers or actuator are fitted, with
monitoring devices, as appropriate, for purposes of effecting desired operation of specific machinery.
• Control Station is defined exclusively for purposes of Section 4-4-7 “Fire Safety Systems,” as intended by SOLAS, see 4-7-1/11.21.

Intermediate Survey 7-2-3/5 5.1 Salt Water Ballast Spaces, Vessels without ESP
Notation 7-2-3/5.1• The following items are to be examined and placed in
satisfactory condition.5.1.1 7-2-3/5.1.1• For vessels over 5 years of age an overall survey of a
minimum of 3 representative salt water ballast spaces selected by the Surveyor is to be carried out. Where poor coating condition is found, where soft coating has been applied, or where a protective coating has not been ap-plied, the examination is to be extended to other ballast spaces of the same type. For vessels more than 10 years of age, all ballast tanks are to be examined.

If such examinations reveal no visible structural defects, the examination may be limited to a
determination that the protective coating remains effective.
