Nautical tourismTh e Tall Ships Race
From the 11th until the 14th of August, the Port harboured the 60th
edition of Th e Tall Ships Race, which drew to a close in A Coruña after calling at the ports of Amberes, Lisbon and Cádiz. Th e presence of 32 sailboats of diff erent characteristics and lengths, including 1,200 crew members from 12 countries, added colour and a multicultural fl avour to the Maria Pita Festival.
Th e Port Authority provided its docks free of charge for the celebration of the Race and, along with other entities of the Port Committee, was actively involved in supporting and coordinating berthing, provisioning, logistics and safety, and off ering their technical expertise in port management.
Race offi cials again congratulated the Port Authority on the success of the event and highlighted the advantage of the docks’ proximity to the city centre and also the pedestrian areas of the Marina and Parrote as an easy connection between the Port and the city centre’s most popular streets.
