El final de las tardes de los miércoles es de Cameroon Cigar Lounge, que cada semana nos brinda un ameno momento para disfrutar con un cigarro exclusivo. Esta semana, el invitado fue Padrón con su selecta gama de cigarros, los cuales fueron acompañados de Dewar’s 12 y de una rica picadera del Restaurant D´Luis Parrilla-da. Al final de la actividad, los invitados parti-ciparon en una rifa de artículos promocionales.

Conocimos al famoso pelotero de Grandes Ligas, Luis Tiant, cuando visitó la República Dominicana para participar del evento “El Sa-lón de la Fama del Béisbol Latino”, que se realiza cada año en Casa de Campo, La Romana. Mientras participó de un torneo de golf organi-zado por el evento, con-versábamos con él y nos regaló un cigarro “El Tiante” para degustarlo, que resultó delicioso. El nombre de este cigarro viene del año 1972, cuando Tiant jugaba béisbol para Boston, en la Liga Ame-ricana y comenzó a ser conocido como “EL Tiante”, llegando a ser muy popu-lar por su bigote tipo Fu Manchu y la pasión por los cigarros que fumaba. En 19 años, “El Tiante,” compiló un récord de 229-172 con un promedio de carreras ganadas de 3.30. Él ganó 20 juegos, cuatro veces, fue líder de la Liga Americana en blanqueadas, tres veces, y ponchó a 2,416 batea-dores durante su ilustre carrera. Se retiró a la edad de 42 años en 1982. Hoy es Miembro del Salón de la Fama del Béisbol Latino.Los cigarros El Tiante, de Tiant Cigar Group, son fabri-cados en Estelí, Nicaragua bajo la dirección de su hijo Daniel Tiant, Fundador de la empresa y de Michael Bellody, Presidente. Una vez más, compar-timos con el afamado golfista español del PGA Miguel Ángel Jiménez, quien es un apasionado fumador y disfruta los cigarros hechos en la Repúbli-ca Dominicana.En esta ocasión, Mi-guel Ángel estuvo en el país inspeccionado el Brujüela Golf Club que diseñó al estilo de los campos del PGA y que tendrá nueve hoyos listos para jugar en febrero del 2014. En su recorrido de inspección, realizó varios tiros de prác-tica en los hoyos que están listos y estuvo acompañado en todo momento de un buen Cigarro Dominicano. Miguel Ángel Jiménez pertenece al equipo de España de golf, posicionado en la po-sición 20 en el ranking europeo, con 113.21 puntos y a nivel mun-dial se posiciona en el escalón 53, entre 1,000 competidores.

Desde hace treinta y nueve años, se celebra en la ciudad de Puerto Plata, en la Costa Atlántica de la República Dominicana, el torneo de golf más antiguo del país, la Copa Rotativa, organizada por el Puerto Plata Golf Club.Este año, el torneo cuenta con el patrocinio de la Aso-ciación de Productores de Cigarro de la República Do-minicana, PROCIGAR, y de la única revista del sector del Tabaco del país, CIGARRO DOMINICANO la cual tendrá la cobertura exclusiva de tan tradicional evento.El torneo se jugará el 6 y 7 de septiembre en el Playa Dorada Golf Club, en la mo-dalidad de Stroke Play 0-24 de hándicap y aún tienen oportunidad de inscribirse en este magnífico evento deportivo que concluirá con una gran fiesta de premia-ción en The Palms.
