お好み焼き OKOじゃは、湯来南高校から徒歩で１５分位の場所にあります。

Okonomiyaki Okoja is about 15 minutes

from our high school on foot.

この店は「ミシュランガイド広島」に掲載されているお店です。

This shop is listed in Michelin Guide Hiroshima.

そこはお好み焼きを提供し、イノシシ肉入りさえあり、とても珍しいです。

It offers okonomiyaki, even with wild boar, which is very rare.

また、チーズや生エビなど様々なトッピングを使って

自分のオリジナルのお好み焼きを作ってもらうことができます。

You can also ask them to make your own okonomiyaki,

using various toppings such as cheese and raw shrimp.

その他にも OKOじゃでは色々な美味しい鉄板料理を提供しています。

ジャズカフェは湯来ロッジから車で１０分後くらいの場所にあります.

The jazz cafe is located about 10 minutes from Yuki Lodge by car.

そこは一般のお宅のような住まいですが、扉を開けるとジャズミュージックが流れ、店内

にはピアノやドラム、ギターなどが置かれています。

It's like a typical home, but when you open the door, jazz music plays, and there is a

piano, drums, guitar, and more, inside the shop.

山間のゆっくりと時間が流れるこのジャズカフェでは優しい味わいのランチが楽しめます。

You can enjoy a relaxing lunch at this jazz cafe in the mountains where time passes

slowly.

店内にはたくさんのＣＤやレコードのコレクションがあります。

Sturgeon (Caviar Fish)

A certain fish is famous in Yuki Town.

湯来町にはある魚が有名です。

It's the sturgeon (Caviar fish).

それはチョウザメです。

In Japanese, it is called “Chozame” or “Butterfly

Shark”, but actually it is not a shark.

チョウザメと「サメ」が付いていますが、実はサメでは

ありません。

Overall, it resembles a shark, and the shape of scales resembles butterflies,

全体的にサメに似ていること、また、ウロコの形が蝶々に似ているために

in Japanese, and that’s why it was named “Butterfly Shark.”

チョウザメと名付けられました。

Unlike sharks, sturgeons have no teeth.

サメと違って、チョウザメに歯はありません。

Furthermore, ecologically some of them can grow in the sea, and to our surprise,

their lifespan is more than 70 years.

さらに、生態的に海で成長するチョウザメもいて、寿命はなんと 70年以上です。

However, most of them are freshwater fish.

しかし，ほとんどは淡水魚です。

They can live to be up to 150 years old, become 5 meters long, and weigh1.5 tons.

150歳で５メートル・1.5トンにもなります。

In addition, it became the mascot of Yukiminami High School.

それに、湯来南高等学校のマスコットキャラクターにもなっています。

The reason is that it was cultivated because of the desire to rejuvenate Yuki Town.

Mt. Amida 阿弥陀山

・Mt. Amida is located to the west of Omori Shrine in Yuki Town.

阿弥陀山は、湯来町にあり大森神社の西側に位置しています。

・The mountain is at an altitude of 837m.

標高は 837ｍあります。

・The mountain looks like a bowl lying down, seen from

the grounds of Omori Shrine.

大森神社の境内からは、お椀を伏せたような形に見えます。

・The mountain is covered with deep green and

seems to be sitting down. It is quite a presence.

深い緑に覆われて、鎮座しているようでなかなかの存在感です。

・At first glance, the mountain seems to make us relaxed

and peaceful, but the mountain trail is quite steep. 一見、阿弥陀山はゆったりとしてのどかに見えますが、

山中の登山道はなかなかの急勾配だそうです。

・However, it seems that those who climbed

have a sense of achievement.

でもその分、登った人は達成感があるそうですよ！

玄関には誰もいないことがあり、入店し最初にすべき事は、木のカナヅチで吊り下げてある木を叩くことです。

お店の近くに川があり、森に囲まれて、空気もおいしいです。

“the Minochi-gawa River”

The Minochi-gawa River is a first class river of the Ota-gawa River system

running through Yuki Town.

水内川は湯来町を流れる太田川水系の一級水系です。

This river is rich in nature, inhabited by a variety of creatures.

自然豊かで、沢山の生物が生息しています。

Some of them are rare.

中には、珍しい生き物もいます。

For example, Japanese giant salamanders, Yamame or masu trout…

たとえば、オオサンショウウオや、山女魚などなど。

When I was a child, I went there to search for those creatures many times.

私が子供の時、それらの生き物を探しに何度も来ました。

The river is near Yuki Lodge, so many families come here to play in the river.

川は湯来ロッジの近くにあるので、家族連れが沢山来て川で遊びます。

If you apply to the Minochi-gawa River Fishery Cooperative, you can enjoy fishing.

水内川漁協に申請すれば、釣りを楽しむことができます。

Children living in Yuki Town can enjoy fishing for free.

湯来町に住んでいる子供は、無料で楽しむことができます。

In this river, you can catch Ayu or sweetfish, Amago or dwarf rill trout, and Unagi or eel.

この川では、鮎、天子そして鰻を捕ることができます。

They are delicious.

This Ayu has won the semi-grand prix many times at “Kiki-Ayu-kai” Contest, which is held in the Kochi

湯来温泉街は広島県湯来町にある緑と清流に囲まれている温泉街です。

Yuki Onsen Town is a hot spring town in Yuki Town, Hiroshima Prefecture,

which is surrounded by greenery and clear streams.

湯来町の四季は３月１日のアマゴ漁の解禁に始まり、新緑の中のハイキングが

楽しめます。

In the four seasons of Yuki Town, you can enjoy hiking in fresh greenery

starting with the lifting of the ban on “amago” fishing on March 1.

初夏にはカジカや自然繁殖した蛍の観賞ができます。

In early summer, you can watch the river frogs

and naturally-bred fireflies.

秋は紅葉狩りのできる石ヶ谷峡や加下峡、山岳

登山なども楽しめます。

In autumn, you can also enjoy hiking in

Ishigatani Gorge, Kashita Gorge, and enjoy

そして水内川の支流にある石ヶ谷峡。渓谷には幅 120ｍの屏風岩や高さ 300ｍの

また、加下峡は川床の滑らかな岩肌が印象的な峡谷があります。

Ishigatani Gorge is a tributary of the Minochi River. In the valley you will

find huge and strange rocks, such as a 120m wide folding-screen rock, a

300m bat-like rock, and a sky-high rock. In addition, Kashita Gorge has a

gorge, with a smooth rock surface as the riverbed, which is impressive.

Yuki Town Konnyaku

湯来町のこんにゃくは古くから名物として定着しており、

Sesame Konnyaku, Jew’s Ear Konnyaku, and Konnyaku with roe.

湯来南高校の家庭科クラブで作られた、オウサンショウウオこんにゃくも

あります。

The Home Economy Club of Yukiminami High School has made Giant Salamander

Konnyaku.

ぜひ、湯来こんにゃくで料理をして、

機会があれば、湯来町のこんにゃく、特に「オオサンショウウオこ

んにゃく」を使った料理を作ってほしいと思います。

If you have the chance, I encourage you to cook with Yuki Town Konnyaku,

especially Giant Salamander Konnyaku.

家庭科の授業で、「オウサンショウウオこんにゃく」を使

った料理を作るときに、お吸い物や炊き込みご飯を、オリ

ジナルメニューとして考えて作りました。

In Home Economics class, when I cooked dishes using

Giant Salamander Konnyaku, I made soup and cooked rice

as an original food.

Kagura Troupes in Yuki Town

湯来町には３つの神楽団があります

There are three Kagura troupes in Yuki

Town.

団体名は「下五原神楽団」「水内神楽団」

「大森神楽団」があります。

The group names are Shimoitsuhara

Kagura Troupe, Minochi Kagura Troupe,

and Omori Kagura Troupe.

僕の好きな神楽団は、大森神楽団です

My favorite Kagura troupe is Omori Kagura Troupe.

大森神楽団は、百数十年の歴史を持つ神楽団です

Omori Kagura Troupe is the one with a history of more than one hundred years.

毎年十月の第三土曜日に大森八幡神社で奉納神楽が行われています

A ceremonial kagura is held at Omori Hachiman Shrine on the third Saturday of

October every year.

山県旧舞、高田新舞も取り入れ、現在三種類の神楽を保持しています

It also incorporates Yamagata old dance and Takada new dance, and currently holds

three types of kagura.

僕の好きな演目は滝夜叉姫です

My favorite performance is called

Princess Takiyasha.

物語は平安末期、下総の国での平将門

の物語です。

The story is in the late Heian Period,

in Shimousa country. This is the

story of Taira-no-Masakado.

平将門は、自らを親王と名乗っていました。

Taira-no-Masakado calls himself a royal king.

そして、平貞盛と藤原秀郷のために最期を遂げてしまいます。

And Taira-no-Sadamori and Fujiwara-no-Hidesato are killed.

父の意志を継ぎ、恨みを晴らそうとした五月姫は京都の鞍馬にある貴船神社に祈願をした。

Princess Satsuki tries to clear her resentment by inheriting her father's will. She

prayed to Kifune Shrine, located in Kurama, Kyoto.

そして、五月姫が妖術を授かった。

And Princess Satsuki was awarded witchcraft.

五月姫は、自らを滝夜叉姫と名乗り、下総の相馬に戻り、朝命に背き天下に災いをなした

She calls herself Princess Takiyasha, and returns to Soma, Shimousa. Despite a royal

order, she causes a disaster in the world

そこで朝廷の令を受けた大宅中将光圀が、朝廷の命を受けめでたく成敗した。

So, Ohya-no-Chujo-Mitsukuni receives a royal order and he successfully defeats

Princess Takiyasha.

湯来南高校和太鼓部

湯来南高校は、小さい学校だけど活気あふれる学校で、地域に根差した活動もたくさん行っ

ています。

Yukiminami High School is small and full of energy, which has many activities rooted in

the community.

その中でも、有名なのは和太鼓演奏です。

Among them, the most famous performance belongs to the Japanese Drum Club.

和太鼓は日本の伝統芸能として親しまれています。

“Wadaiko”, or Japanese Drums, is a popular Japanese performing art.

和太鼓部は、創立１５年目を迎えました。

The Japanese Drum Club has celebrated its 15th anniversary this year.

私は和太鼓部に所属し、みんなで協力して一つの目標に向かって努力することの大切さを学

んできました。

Ｉbelong to the club and we have learned the importance of working together to achieve

one goal.

昨年にはコンテストで最優秀賞を受賞し、今年には全国大会にも出場させていただきました。

Last year, we won the highest prize in a contest, and this year we participated in a

national competition.

最優秀賞を受賞した時には、達成感ややりがいを感じました。

When I received the highest award, I felt a sense of accomplishment and that it was all

worth it.

これからも和太鼓演奏を通じて、湯来町を元気にするためにも、日々一生懸命練習に取り組

んでいきたいです。

I want to work hard every day to invigorate our town by playing the Japanese drums.
