Message from the Vicar

Four verbs that I think can help us from today's readings on this II Sunday of Lent. First “Go”: is what God

says to Abraham in the first reading of today, leave your land and the house of your father to the house that I will

show you. Lent is to leave, leave the comfort zone in which we find ourselves. Lent implies a freeing of many things

that seem everyday and for being everyday have become comfortable for us.

Second “Rise”: The mountain is the place of man's encounter with God. For Lent is a time to rise, that is, Lent

is a time to be with God, Lent is a time to talk to Him, Lent is a time to let Him act in our lives. Third “Come down”: When one climbs one

sometimes does not want to come back down. Peter seeing the glory of God said look I make three tents one for each of you and we can stay here. My brothers, we do not go to

prayer to stay in prayer, after a long time of prayer we have to return home to give testimony Of what we have lived with the Lord. Fourth “Listening”: "This is my favorite son, listen to him." You go up to pray and listen to the Son of God. In the

midst of so much ruckus from society we need time to listen to the Son of God. I hope you can live this during this time of Lent.

Cuatro verbos que me parecen que nos pueden ayudar desde las lecturas de hoy en este II Domingo de Cuaresma. Primero “Sal” del verbo salir es lo que Dios le dice a Abraham en la primera lectura de hoy sal de tu tierra y de la casa de tu padre hacia la casa que te mostrare.

Cuaresma es salir, dejar la zona de confort en la que uno esta. Cuaresma implica un liberarse de muchas cosas que parecen cotidianas y que por ser cotidianas se han vuelto cómodas para

nosotros. Segundo Subir: La montaña es el lugar del encuentro del hombre con Dios. Pues Cuaresma es tiempo para subir, es decir cuaresma es tiempo para estar con Dios, cuaresma

es tiempo para hablar con él, Cuaresma es tiempo para dejarlo actuar en neustra vida. Tercero Bajar: Cuando uno sube uno a veces no se quiere bajar. Pedro viendo la gloria de Dios dijo mira le hago tres tiendas una a cada una de ustedes y nos quedamos aquí. Mis hermanos, no vamos la oración para quedarnos en la oración, después de un largo tiempo de oración nos toca regresar a

casa para dar testimonio de lo que hemos vivido con el Señor. Cuarto Escuchar: “Este es mi hijo predilecto, escuchadlo”. Usted sube para orar y escuchar al Hijo de Dios. En medio de tanta

bulla de la sociedad necesitamos tiempo para escuchar al Hijo de Dios. Ojala que usted yo podamos vivir esto durante este tiempo de Cuaresma.

SUNDAY REFLECTION Today’s gospel proves to us that Jesus is God’s only-begotten Son, who will be sacrificed on the Cross thus proving God’s infinite love for us. It is as if God wants to remind us of his promise of love. We have seen that God allowed Jesus to make manifest His Divine Glory for a brief moment. Jesus was transfigured. His clothing became white as

snow. From the cloud, the voice of the Father was heard: “This is my beloved Son”. There is no room to doubt that in Jesus Crucified, the only Son, God gives us the most radical proof of His love.

REFLEXIÓN DOMINICAL El evangelio de hoy nos da la prueba de que Jesús es el único Hijo de Dios que va a ser sacrificado en la Cruz y nos va manifes-

tar así el amor infinito de Dios para nosotros. En Cristo es como si Dios quisiera recordarnos su promesa de amor. Hemos visto que Dios permitió que Jesús manifestara por unos instantes su Gloria Divina. Jesús se transfiguró, sus vestidos se pusieron blancos como la nieve. Desde la nube se oyó la voz del Padre: "Este es mi Hijo amado". Así no hay duda para nosotros de que en Jesús Crucifica-

do, Hijo único, Dios nos dio la prueba más radical de su amor.

"Puedes tener defectos, estar ansioso y vivir irritado algunas veces, pero no te olvides que tu vida es la mayor empresa del mundo.

Sólo tu puedes evitar que ella vaya en decadencia. Hay muchos que te aprecian, admiran y te quieren. Me gustaría que recordaras que

ser feliz, no es tener un cielo sin tempestades, camino sin accidentes, trabajos sin cansancio, relaciones sin decepciones.

Ser feliz es encontrar fuerza en el perdón, esperanza en las batallas, seguridad en el palco del miedo, amor en los

desencuentros. Ser feliz no es sólo valorizar la sonrisa, sino también reflexionar sobre la tristeza. No es apenas conmemorar el éxito, sino aprender lecciones en los fracasos. No es apenas tener alegría con los aplausos, sino tener alegría en el anonimato. Ser

feliz es reconocer que vale la pena vivir la vida, a pesar de todos los desa os, incomprensiones, y períodos de crisis. Ser feliz no es una

fatalidad del des no, sino una conquista para quien sabe viajar para adentro de su propio ser. Ser feliz es dejar de ser víc ma de los problemas y volverse actor de la propia historia. Es atravesar desiertos fuera de si, mas ser capaz de encontrar un oasis en lo

recóndito de nuestra alma. Es agradecer a Dios cada mañana por el milagro de la vida. Ser feliz es no tener miedo de los propios

sen mientos. Es saber hablar de si mismo. Es tener coraje para oír un "no". Es tener seguridad para recibir una crí ca, aunque sea

injusta. Es besar a los hijos, mimar a los padres, tener momentos poé cos con los amigos, aunque ellos nos hieran. Ser feliz es dejar vivir a la criatura libre, alegre y simple, que vive dentro de cada uno

de nosotros. Es tener madurez para decir *'me equivoqué'*. Es tener la osadía para decir *'perdóname'*. Es tener sensibilidad para expresar *'te necesito'*. Es tener capacidad de decir *'te

amo'*. Que tu vida se vuelva un jardín de oportunidades para ser feliz… Que en tus primaveras seas amante de la alegría. Que en tus inviernos seas amigo de la sabiduría. Y que cuando te equivoques

en el camino, comiences todo de nuevo. Pues así serás más apasionado por la vida. Y descubrirás que ser feliz no es tener una vida perfecta. Sino usar las lágrimas para regar la tolerancia. Usar

las pérdidas para refinar la paciencia. Usar las fallas para esculpir la serenidad. Usar el dolor para lapidar el placer. Usar los obstáculos para abrir las ventanas de la inteligencia. Jamás desistas.... Jamás

desistas de las personas que amas. Jamás desistas de ser feliz, pues la vida es un espectáculo imperdible!"

feelings. It is knowing how to talk about yourself. It is courage to hear a "no". It is safe to receive cri cism, even if it is unfair. It is to kiss the children, to pamper parents, to have poe c moments with

friends, even if they hurt us. To be happy is to let the free, happy and simple creature live within each one of us. It is to have maturity to

say 'I was wrong'. It is to have the audacity to say 'forgive me' *. It is to have sensi vity to express * 'I need you' *. It is to be able to say *

'I love you' *. May your life become a garden of opportunity to be happy … May you be joyous in your spring. In your winter you are

friend of wisdom. And when you get in the way, start all over again. Then you will be more passionate about life. And you will discover

that to be happy is not to have a perfect life. But use tears to water the tolerance. Use the losses to refine the pa ence. Use flaws to

sculpt serenity. Use pain lapping pleasure. Use obstacles to open the windows of intelligence. Never give up .... Never give up on the

people you love. Never give up on being happy, for life is a must-see! "
