The Most Holy Trinity

3

United in Christ, we seek to spread God’s Word through prayer and action ...

You are very special to all of the Holy Trinity! You are very special to God. You belong to God -- all of God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The reason why it's so important to be baptized in the name of the full Holy Trinity, as Jesus instructs in this Sunday’s Gospel reading, instead of only through Jesus our Savior as a few Protestant sects do, is because God in his fullness -- all three Persons of the triune nature of God -- wants to have a personal relationship with you, a true friendship. Are you aware of living in a special love relationship with each Person of the Trinity? Can you sit and chat with God as Father, God as Savior, and God as Holy Spirit? When you're feeling hurt, can you sit in the Father's lap and receive his comfort? When you're fighting temptation, can you feel the strength of Jesus coming to your rescue? When you're worried or confused or struggling to have faith, are you aware of the Spirit's gentle guidance? The Father of Jesus is our own, very special “Abba” (the childlike Jewish word for “Daddy” in the reading from Romans). Is he a fearsome punishing authority who barely understands you? No, he gladly adopted you during your baptism, because he's a doting daddy who provides for our needs. The Holy Spirit assures us of this. God's Spirit embraces us and comforts us and teaches us everything we need to know so we can live in the joy of a life that's full of love. And in that love, Jesus sacrificed himself for us so that we can be free from the punishment of sin and live holy lives with the help of his Holy Spirit. God is a trinity of helpers, healers, strengtheners, and faith-builders. He wants you to live in the fullness of his divinity! He wants you to benefit from all that he is. As baptized Christians and as sacramental Catholics who have God's presence fully available in the Eucharist, we lack nothing that really matters!©

1. On Tuesday May 15th we met and discussed a number of topics. The issue of flowers on the altar every weekend was brought up. We do not have weekly flowers in the budget. If someone donates flowers in memory of a loved one or for a special occasion, there are flowers on the altar. On those weekends when there are no donated flowers, we sometimes have large live plants, or we leave the altar unadorned so the beauty of the tabernacle can shine.

2. There was a concern about the number of languages used in our Holy Week liturgies. We are a very diverse parish and the inclusion of five languages is a reflection of this diversity. It was suggested that our Worship Aid for these celebrations include the translations of the various prayers.

For the first time, a few underclassmen auditioned and

are playing a few parts. We also have a parent and an alum as

performances will be held at the Black Box Theater at Salisbury

University on Wednesday, May 30th and Thursday, May 31st at

7:00 pm. A free will offering is being accepted instead of tickets.

Serving in Love...

Households of Faith

Reflection by Michele Harris

We have a new resident on campus at St. Francis de

Sales! I haven’t been officially introduced, but I did see him

from a distance a couple of weeks ago. He was sporting red but

I know he isn’t a cardinal. Days went by as I spent extra hours

getting ready for a little vacation, providing no time for me to

ask if anyone had met him. I was away for a week and almost

forgot about his existence as I enjoyed the visit with our

granddaughters. When I returned, I was pleasantly surprised

when I saw him again, only this time he was with another and

they appeared to be together and a very handsome couple, I

might add. So, our new resident is not ordained! They seem to

have settled in and possibly are awaiting the arrival of another. It

is hard to tell as I haven’t been able to peek into their new home

to see if there have been any preparations for some little ones.

So the next time you are in Salisbury, take a gander at the trees

behind the St. Francis de Sales Church and maybe you will see

our newest tenants. If you happen to know what kind of

woodpeckers they are, please let me know! I love this time of

year when I am reminded of God in the abundance of new life

that blossoms all around.

“This is why you must now know, and fix in your heart, that the

LORD is God in the heavens above and on earth below, and that

there is no other.”

It’s that time again when students are anticipating the conclusion of another school year. They can look to the past with a sense of accomplishment or twinges of disappointment or regret. For some, there is comfort in knowing their achievements will push them closer to their goals and dreams. For others, they may feel stifled by their surroundings or circumstances, wondering what the future holds. Whichever side you find yourself on, remember that God, who is our final destination, meets us exactly where we are with his unconditional love. The faith and the hope we forge now in Christ shapes us by his mercy and wisdom for what lies ahead. St. Augustine of Hippo says it well, “Trust the past to God's Mercy, the present to God's love, and the future to God's providence.” Youth Music Practice

Caring for One Another...

The Gospel for All Ages Pat Burbage, Family Ministry The Solemnity of the Holy Trinity invites us to remember that God has revealed himself to us as one God in three Persons. As Jesus departed from his disciples, he shared with them the power to make disciples of all nations. He taught his disciples to invite others to share in the life of the blessed Trinity by

sharing with others the gift of Baptism. This continues to be the mission of the Church. Each of us who has been baptized shares in the life of the blessed Trinity and also shares in the Church’s mission of inviting others to share in God’s love. Gather as a family, bring out pictures and other mementos of family celebrations of the Sacrament of Baptism. Talk about the significance of Baptism with your children. Read together today’s Gospel, Matthew 28:16-20. Notice that Jesus taught his disciples to baptize all nations in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Recall that whenever we pray the Sign of the Cross, we are reminding ourselves that we are united with God through our Baptism and share in the life of the blessed Trinity. Conclude your time together by praying the Glory Be to the

Father.

Kudos to our faithful families…This is the time when all our Religious Education attendance forms are prepared for our parish files. A record of attendance and all the service time that so many of our families speaks to the commitment of raising our children in this faith. God bless you. I say this because I have a record of the time and attention that so many of you have displayed. I see the fruits of your love in an abundance of places. My catechists and aides are a letter of love to the Lord that they share with our precious children. They are invaluable to our program as they seek to enrich and hopefully, excite your children with the joy of God’s love. I watch them and know how much time they make in their busy lives to share their faith! I am grateful to the families who are amazingly consistent and cooperative despite all the other calls for their time and attention. I celebrate all of you faithful servants of the Lord! New addition to Religious Education Family: Many of you already know our new Associate DRE, Janet Hastings. I am very excited by Mrs. Hastings’ decision to join our Religious Education program. She has taught in our parish school for several years, teaching our seventh and eighth grades as well as religious formation. She will be a part of our summer Family Bible Boot Camp, an opportunity for families to gather for a light meal with prayer, crafts and music as we dive into Old Testament stories. Our dates for this event are Thursdays July 12th & 26th and August 9th & 23rd at 5:30 p.m. in the St. Francis de Sales School Hall. Register for the 2018-2019 Religious Education Year! Do it today! The forms are in today’s bulletin. You can fill them out and put them in the offertory baskets. Make arrangements to pay online or enclose your check or cash in an envelope. Our publishers offer an incentive of no shipping fees if we order our materials early. Please make an effort to take advantage of this early registration discount by registering now. There is a $15.00 discount per child if registrations are submitted

prior to June 17th.

We are a worshipping community committed to religious formation and social concern for all.

KNIGHTWATCH! The Columbus Club building, on Emerson Ave., where we meet, is maintained through leasing for parties and social functions,

supplemented by income generated through a fundraiser, the 20-week-per-cycle bi-annual Century Club draw, which takes place at a special sit-down dinner, for cash prizes. Entry in the draw is open to all comers. Tickets, $20 each, cover admission to the “wine & dine” dinner and participation in the draw for first prize $1,000, or 2nd prize $400. The Century Club, established in 1960, was run for several decades by the late Robert “Bob” Berger, whose son, David “Dave” Berger, along with Past Grand Knight John Losonczy, continues the good work. The current cycle, Century Club #118, is now under way and tickets are available from either of the two gentlemen until September 1st. The draw dinner, always a thoroughly enjoyable (and perhaps rewarding!) affair, will take place on Saturday, September 22nd, with “happy hour” commencing at 5:00 p.m. For tickets, please contact Dave Berger 443-614-5343 or John Losonczy 443-235-6182.
