ace en Caibarin el 21 deoctubre de 1928; trompetista y

director de orquesta, comenztocando en el jazz band

Hermanos Farach, de su ciudad natal, luegofue integrante de la Orquesta Riverside.

Fue director de la Banda Municipal deConciertos de Caibarin y destacadoinstrumentista (primer trompeta desde 1949 a1990), en 1960 funda la Orquesta Sinfnica

Nacional y se mantiene en esta institucinhasta su jubilacin en febrero de 1990;

durante muchos aos fue trompetista dedicha Orquesta Sinfnica.

Fundador de la Escuela Nacional de Arte(ENA), impartiendo clases de nivelelemental y medio en la especialidad detrompeta donde ha contribuido a laformacin de muy buenos ejecutantes, hadirigido varias bandas, desde la que funden la ENA, hasta la Banda Nacional deConcierto, pasando por las provinciales de

Santa Claray Holgun, y las municipales deSagua La GrandeyRemedios.

Desde 1995 y hasta la actualidad, es el

Director Titular de la Banda Municipal deConciertos de Caibarin, con un destacadotrabajo de retretas, conciertos, desfiles,conciertos didcticos con alumnos dedistintas escuelas, encuentros provincialesde bandas y todo tipo de actividad poltico-cultural, lo que le ha permitido ganar elreconocimiento y la identificacin delpueblo con esta labor importante tradicinde su terruo natal.

Uno de sus principales aportes ha sido lacreacin de diversos mtodos y materiales

didcticos para la enseanza de latrompeta en el nivel elemental y medio.Miembro de la UNEAC y de la Comisin

Nacional de Evaluacin. Ha recibidomltiples reconocimientos ycondecoraciones de carcter provincial ynacional, entre las que se encuentran la

Medalla Alejo Carpentier, Miembro de Mritode la UNEAC, Diploma Especial por sutalento y aporte a la msica cubana,Distincin por la Cultura Cubana.Padre del pianista Roberto Urbay yhermano del director de orquesta JosRamn Urbay.

theRegular Director of the Municipal Band of

Concerts of Caibarin, with an outstandingwork, concerts, parades, didactic concertswith students of different schools, provincialencounters of bands and all type ofpolitical-cultural activity, what has allowedhim to win the recognition and theidentification of the town with this workimportant tradition of their native town.

One of their main contributions has beenthe creation of diverse methods anddidactic materials for the teaching of thetrumpet in the elementary and half level.

Member of the UNEACand of the NationalCommission of Evaluation. He has receivedmultiple recognitions and badges ofprovincial and national character, amongthose that are the Medal Alejo Carpentier,

PREFACIO

o siempre se es justocuando se emiten criterios,en muchos casos se hace sin

tener pleno dominio del asunto atratar, hoy no pretendo emitircriterios, solo me limitar acomentar algunos aspectos sobre elsiguiente material pues de l se hanemitido abundantes criterioscompletamente falsos y malfundamentados, ms que todoquiero hacer un acto de justicia.

El estudio de la trompeta es

complicado, sobre todo por lacantidad de materiales a utilizar,cuestin que, en muchos casos, esun serio problema y ms ancuando la tcnica, (tanto delinstrumento como de la manera de

tocarlo y estudiarlo) siempre marchamuy rpido.

En este libro Marcos Urbay nosbrinda un trabajo que tiene el fin deconsolidar en un solo cuadernobuena cantidad de estudioscomplementarios, de esta manera sesuplir la necesidad de tenermuchos libros, recordemos que fueditado en un momento de grandesnecesidades editoriales.

Si bin es verdad que es unarecopilacin de varios autores, no

se debe quitar ningn valor a laautora de Marcos Urbay, aqu esttoda la experiencia de un gran

pedagogo, sobre todo cuando indicaen qu momento usar cada estudio,esto solo puede hacerlo de maneracorrecta un verdadero maestro.

If it is true that is a summary ofseveral authors, any value it shouldnot be removed to Marcos Urbay'sresponsibility, here all theexperience of a great educator is,mainly when it indicates in whatmoment to use each one of thesestudies, this alone he can make it in

a correct way a true teacher.

mtodo es tomar de cada uno lo mejor

y ms conveniente para lograr unmejor progreso.

Nunca debe olvidar que se trata de un

mtodo de Estudios Complementarios, muy til, te saca de la rutina diaria deforma muy amena y te obliga a tenernivel para poder tabajar con l,asumalo de esta manera y ver losbuenos resultados.
