INTRODUCTION

Two types of deck using prestressed concrete: pre-tensioned beams with in situ concrete and post-tensioned concrete.

Prestressed concrete decks are commonly used for bridges with spans between 25 meters and 450 meters.

Prestressed post-tensioned beams with in situ slab deck type for bridges with a span of 16 meters to 30 meters.

The following table is intended to be a rough guide to the useful span ranges of various types of deck.

What structural designs will be needed for the construction of the said project?

How much will be the estimated project cost when it will be conducted?

This study generally aimed to design a Prestressed Concrete Beam Deck Bridge.

Specifically it aims to:

enhance the knowledge in designing;

investigate the condition of the existing bridge;

develop a design of a prestressed concrete beam deck bridge;

provide architectural drawing of the proposed structure;

determine the probable estimated cost of materials to be used in the prestressed concrete beam deck bridge;

produce a material that should serve as reference for the decision makers for future condition; and

provide the municipality a design of prestressed concrete beam deck structure for future use.

The design of Prestressed Concrete Beam Deck Bridge would serve as an instrument to enhance the skills of the author in structural design and analysis.

The students should be able to put into practice the actual sense of designing and should be able to apply it in their future career.

IMPORTANCE OF THE STUDY

The study will provide the municipality a design of prestressed concrete beam deck bridge for future use in case the need for replacing the structure arises.

Methodology

METHODOLOGY

Site surveying and inspection of the proposed project

Gathering technical data through interviews, books, professionals and internet.

Conducting structural analysis using computer softwares like STAAD.

Preparation of plans and architectural concept like drawings, plans and map location.
