Ecce Sacerdos Magnus by E. Elgar

Behold a great priest, who in his days pleased God. Therefore, by an oath, the Lord made him increase among his people. He gave him the blessing of all nations, and confirmed his covenant upon his head.

FIRST READING PRIMERA LECTURA Jeremiah 1:4-9

The word of the LORD came to me thus: Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I dedicated you, a prophet to the nations I appointed you. “Ah, Lord GOD!” I said, "I know not how to speak; I am too young.” But the LORD answered me, Say not, “I am too young.” To whomever I send you, you shall go; whatever I command you, you shall speak. Have no fear before them, because I am with you to deliver you, says the LORD. Then the LORD extended his hand and touched my mouth, saying, See, I place my words in your mouth!

RESPONSORIAL PSALM SALMO RESPONSORIAL 96: 1-3, 10

SECOND READING SEGUNDA LECTURA Romans 12:3-13

En virtud de la gracia que me fue dada, os digo a todos y a cada uno de vosotros: No os estiméis en más de lo que conviene; tened más bien una sobria estima según la medida de la fe que otorgó Dios a cada cual. Pues, así como nuestro cuerpo, en su unidad, posee mu-chos miembros, y no desempeñan todos los miembros la misma función, así también no-sotros, siendo muchos, no formamos más que un solo cuerpo en Cristo, siendo cada uno por su parte los unos miembros de los otros. Pero teniendo dones diferentes, según la gra-cia que nos ha sido dada, si es el don de profecía, ejerzámoslo en la medida de nuestra fe;

si es el ministerio, en el ministerio; la enseñanza, enseñando; la exhortación, exhortando. El que da, con sencillez; el que preside, con solicitud; el que ejerce la misericordia, con jovialidad. Vuestra caridad sea sin fingimiento; detestando el mal, adhiriéndoos al bien;

THE LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST LITURGIA DE EUCARÍSTICA

OFFERTORY CHANT EL CANTO DEL OFERTORIO

(Proclaimed in Spanish) It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God.

For by the anointing of the Holy Spirit you made your Only Begotten Son High Priest of the new and eternal covenant, and by your wondrous design were pleased to decree that his one Priesthood should continue in the Church.

For Christ not only adorns with a royal priesthood the people he has made his own, but with a brother's kindness he also chooses men to become sharers in his sacred ministry

through the laying on of hands. They are to renew in his name the sacrifice of human redemption, to set before your children the paschal banquet, to lead your holy people in charity, to nourish them with the word and strengthen them with the Sacraments.

As they give up their lives for you and for the salvation of their brothers and sisters, they strive to be conformed to the image of Christ himself and offer you a constant witness of faith and love.

And so, Lord, with all the Angels and Saints, we, too, give you thanks, as in exultation we ac-claim:

Priests and Bishops only El sacerdote, con las manos extendidas, dice:

Ego Sum Panis Vivus by B. Strmole I am that bread of life. Your fathers did eat manna in the

GUIDELINES FOR RECEIVING COMMUNION

For Catholics

As Catholics, we fully participate in the celebration of the Eucharist when we receive Holy Communion. We are encouraged to receive Communion devoutly and frequently. In order to be properly disposed to receive Communion, participants should not be conscious of grave sin and normally should have fasted for one hour. A person who is conscious of grave sin is not to receive the Body and Blood of the Lord without prior sacramental confession except for a grave reason where there is no opportunity for confession. In this case, the person is to be mindful of the obligation to make an act of perfect contrition, including the intention of confessing as soon as possible (Canon 916). A frequent reception of the Sacrament of Penance is encouraged for all.

For Our Fellow Christians

We welcome our fellow Christians to this celebration of the Eucharist as our brothers and sis-ters. We pray that our common baptism and the action of the Holy Spirit in this Eucharist will draw us closer to one another and begin to dispel the sad divisions which separate us. We pray that these will lessen and finally disappear, in keeping with Christ’s prayer for us “that they may all be one” (John 17:21).

Because Catholics believe that the celebration of the Eucharist is a sign of the reality of the one-ness of faith, life, and worship, members of those churches with whom we are not yet fully unit-ed are ordinarily not admitted to Holy Communion. Eucharistic sharing in exceptional circum-stances by other Christians requires permission according to the directives of the diocesan bish-op and the provisions of canon law (Canon 844.4). Members of the Orthodox churches, the As-syrian church of the East and the Polish National Catholic church are urged to respect the disci-pline of their own churches. According to Roman Catholic discipline, the Code of Canon Law does not object to the reception of communion by Christians of these churches (Canon 844.3). Reception of the Eucharist by Christians not fully united with us would imply a oneness which does not yet exist, and for which we must all pray.

For Those Not Receiving Holy Communion

All who are not receiving Holy Communion are encouraged to express in their hearts a prayer-ful desire for unity with the Lord Jesus and with one another. These persons are invited to come forward in procession, with their arms across their chest, to receive a spiritual communion.

For Non-Christians

We also welcome to this celebration those who do not share our faith in Jesus Christ. While we cannot admit them to Holy Communion, we ask them to offer their prayers for the peace and the unity of the human family.
