Adult Confirma on Class begins Wednesday, March 3rd,

St. Lawrence will be offering an 8-week adult forma on course for any Adult who is looking to receive sacramen-tal prepara on. *Adults (18 and above) who have not received Confirma on yet, can a end Adult Confirma-

on classes. Those adults who have not received First Holy Communion AND Confirma on can be enrolled in the Adult Confirma on and First Communion Class Pro-gram. You can register in the Office of Religious Educa on. The registra on fee is $25. You will need to provide a copy of your Bap smal and Holy Communion cer ficate. HISTORY OF SALVATION

The first reading today con-nues the “history of salva-on” narra ve that we hear

throughout Lent this year. Today’s story was among the best-loved in the Jewish tradi on (surely Jo-seph told the story to young Jesus as he formed him in the ways of their faith); the ear-ly fathers of the Church were very fond of it as a means of explaining the sacrifice of Christ on the cross. The overall tone of the first reading, psalm, and second reading seems a li le incon-gruous with the dazzling Gospel, un l we re-member that the Transfigura on was placed as the Gospel for this Sunday precisely to re-mind us of the glory that awaits those who live faithfully and obediently to the will of God. In the life of Jesus, it is a preview of the glory of his resurrec on; for us it is a glimpse of the des ny of those who con nue, as we heard in last week’s Gospel, to repent and believe in the Good News.

HISTORIA DE LA SALVACIÓN

La primera lectura de hoy con -núa la “historia de la salvación”, relato que oímos a lo largo de la Cuaresma de este año. El relato de hoy era uno de los más queri-dos en la tradición judía

(seguramente José se lo contó al joven Jesús cuan-do le enseñaba los caminos de la fe); a los prime-ros padres de la Iglesia les gustaba usarlo para ex-plicar el sacrificio de Cristo en la cruz. El tono ge-neral de la primera lectura, del salmo y la segunda lectura me parece un poco fuera de lugar frente al Evangelio deslumbrante, hasta que recordamos que la Transfiguración se incluyó como el Evange-lio de este domingo, precisamente para recordar-nos la gloria que les espera a aquellos que son fie-les y obedientes a la voluntad de Dios. En la vida de Jesús, es un an cipo de la gloria de su resurrec-ción, para nosotros es una visión del des no de aquellos que con núan, como hemos escuchado en el Evangelio de la semana pasada, arrepin én-dose y creyendo en la Buena Nueva.
