La Serenata en México

Desde la época de la colonia, las serenatas pregonaban el romanticismo en cada ciudad, donde los trovadores, inspirados por la combinación de juventud y amor, colgaban sus ojos en aquellos balcones de sus amadas, suspiraban las horas esperando la quietud nocturna, hasta que de pronto, el corazón empezaba a tocar una guitarra y el alma empezaba a cantar.

Esta tradición mexicana sigue en pie, a pesar de tantas canciones modernas, a pesar de las diferentes y modernas formas de pensar, la clave siempre está en el sentimiento, creatividad y adrenalina que significa llegar a dar una serenata. Desde que la joven despierta con la música, y empieza a gritar silenciosamente en su cuarto de la emoción, despierta a los papás y le sentencian si asoma un solo brazo por el balcón, entonces no le queda otro método que sólo encender la luz de la recámara como señal de que ha despertado y el enamorado ha cumplido su objetivo.

Otros caballeros traen consigo, aparte de las flores para su damisela, un regalo para sus padres, para evitar que se pongan violentos con esa escopeta que tienen en la sala. Hay otros, muy aventureros, que trepan el balcón como Romeo en Verona y llegan hasta arriba, para hacer la entrega del ramo de flores.

Ya sea con mariachi, con un trío, con un amigo y su guitarra o solo y a capela, de la forma que sea, el enamorado quiere declarar su amor a la mujer amada.

The Serenades in Mexico
