    DescriptionHSC2 is a microprocessor based 2-wire loop powered submers-ible hydrostatic level sensor used or level measuring in uids. TheHSC2 gives a 4-20 mA signal, which is proportional to the level othe uid.

    The output signal is connected to the mA input o or ex. set point

    relays chart recorders, indicating instruments, PLC, pump control-lers etc. The level sensor has a ceramic pressure sensor whichcan withstand very high overpressures.

    Measuring principleThe ront side o the membrane senses the pressure o the liquidcolumn, which is proportional to the level o the liquid and theatmospheric pressure, which is variable.

    The change in atmospheric pressure aects the measurement andgives a measuring error. To eliminate this error the atmosphericpressure is passed to the backside o the membrane through anair hose in the sensor cable.

    HSC2 can be adjusted and calibrated rom a personal computer

    with the calibration system CB2 (accessory), which consists o acalibration box and a Windows program. The calibration box has aninterace to enable communication between te personal computerand the sensor, and a precision instrument to measure the sen-sors mA-output signal.

    Mounting

    Aeration

    The air hose in the cable o the sensor must be in connection withthe atmospheric pressure. This means that i the sensor cable isconnected inside an airtight box, this box must be airated.

    Mounting in fuid without turbulence

    Normally the HSC2 can be mounted hanging reely in the deliveredcable hanger and not touch the bottom. See fg 1.

    Mounting in liquid with turbulence

    I there is a strong turbulence, we recommend that the weight ismounted. See fg 2. Alternatively the sensor is protected inside apipe, with an inside diameter o at least 50 mm, which is mountedvertical alongside the tank or pit wall to above 10 cm rom the bot-tom. See fg 3.

    The HSC2 is lowered through the tube until its lower end is ree othe tube, but still ree rom the bottom. Slots in the tube preventoating sludge to collect in the tube which can make liting o thesensor less easy.
