Sacred Heart Catholic Church Twenty-fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time –September 23, 2018
Reflection from the Pastor: For many years it was customary to pray special prayers for the protection
of the Church. Now, after so many revelations of sexual abuse and cover-
ups by members of the hierarchy, I think it is a good time to begin this
custom again. Beginning next Saturday, September 29th, Feast of the Holy
Archangels, after the final blessing and dismissal, but before the final
hymn, I will invite everyone to kneel down and
pray with me the prayer to St. Michael the
Archangel. Then we will all rise and sign the
final hymn. Why St. Michael the Archangel?
In the Book of the Prophet Daniel, he is
identified as the special guardian angel who
protects Israel, the People of God. In the New
Testament, in the Book of Revelation, Michael
appears again as fighting on behalf of Christ’s
Church, the new People of God. So, we ask
our guardian angel Michael to defend us and
protect us against all forms of evil, especially against despair, so that we
might place all our hope in God, who has saved us through Jesus Christ.

oración a San Miguel Arcángel.
