KO RANGINUI I TU IHO NEI

Ko wai au? Who am I?

Ko Papatuanuku e takoto ake nei

No whea au? where am I from

Te uha o te ao

I am a reflection of my parents, grandparents, great grandparents I am a reflection of my whakapapa and my environment

Te ahuru mowai

What does water have to do with who I am? What does water have to do with anything?

Nau mai e hine

Not only am I predominately made up of water, it is saltyand sometimes it rages within me

Ki te ao turoa e hine e

And sometimes it’s calm

Aue taukiri e!!!

What has this to do with my reflective practice?

Kia tu teitei, kia tu hangai

Everything!!!

Te Tu tamawahine mana motuhake

My culture encourages me to return physically and spiritually to my environment to regain balance and alignment in life

Ko Papatuanuku te mauri tu

Reflective practice is about what I do and how I do it,

Ma te reo o Hinemoana hei whakatau

My environment teaches me about purpose, processes, maintenance and sustainability

Ma nga uri o Tangaroa hei taa

That every process requires time, energy and sometimes support for a successful outcome

E te wai tapu kia rere, kia rere

Some of my support team, resources and energy

Nga uri mai i Kurawaka

Keeping our eyes on the horizon enhances our vision to ensure future generations are catered for

Knowing your environment strengthens your resilience

Helps to develop strong foundations, philosophies, values and principles

How you choose to interact with others

Te whenua e takoto nei, Karanga mai

Knowing where you come from

E te iwi taketake, whakarongo mai

Helps you to recognise where you’re going and how to get there.

Because the way is clearly sign posted

My faith, lands, waterways, airways and whakapapa help to define who I am and how I think
