DAYAK NGAJU

Definition of Dayak Ngaju Dayak Ngaju is one of dayak

tribe in central Kalimantan. Ngaju is upstream, it means that they inhabit areas along river.

TIWAH

Tiwah ceremony is a procession deliver ancestral spirits relatives who have died to the afterlife in a way to purify and remove the remains from the grave to a place called stumbling. The ceremony is held if the expected long-buried corpse and left only crumbs.

TYPES OF CRATES FOR TIWAH

Types of crates for tiwah among others

a. Runi are the type of coffin made of round logs, the middle part is made of hollow / given the size of the hole and the middle hole salumpuk bereng adjusted to the size that will be placed there.

b. Roared the coffin is made of logs, like coffins in general, no lid on the top.

c. Kakurung, the type of casket is generally made of a long rectangular board, with a lid on top.

POPULATION

Ngaju Dayak population now roughly 135.297 soul in the province of Central Kalimantan or 18.02%. It is based on the census that was conducted in 2000, however, it seems now the number is increasing Ngaju Dayak community.

Actually Dayak people do not want to interfere other people’s business, except that they feel disturbed. Because they have a high sense of solidarity.

Karungut is a kind of oral literature of Central Kalimantan or commonly referred to as a rhyme chanted

Kandan can be said is the type of singing that is melodic as well macapat in Java, Sunda and Bali. Besides singing Kandan never accompanied by any instrument as well as sung solo

Language: Ngaju Dayak language. Have an accent and dialect similar to Mendawai Dayak. they prefer to use the Dayak language when talking to each other, but to the layman, they will speak the Indonesian.

Means of transport: commonly used by the

Dayak people jukung, canoes, getek, and

klotok.

BODY LANGUAGEThe people of dayak ngaju usually

forbidden to eat patin fish.They are forbidden to cut nails at night,

ang for the teenagers, they are prohibit to sitting in the front of the door at afternoon

MANASAI DANCE

This dance is a dance that symbolizes the joy. This dance is usually also held to welcome government guests or guests who visited Central Kalimantan. manasai dance is also displayed on the traditional wedding ceremony.
