Habakkuk displays much hopelessness today. Yet, we find that those who have faith will be rewarded. In our psalm response we are told not to harden our hearts as we hear the voice of the Lord. As we listen to the Lord, our faith is increased. Jesus said that even a small amount of faith can do so much.

From the Pastor Dear Parishioners: The Diocesan Services Fund goal for our parish is $32,000 for this year. We

have only reached 44.62% of this goal. Last years DSF, we paid 91.08% of our goal and the parish was billed for the remaining $2,766.50. We only have until the end of December to reach our goal for this year. What we do not pay will be billed to the parish and we will have to pay it anyway. We are part of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston and we must support our Archdiocese. The Archdiocese does a lot to help of parish and school. We recently received a grant from the Archdiocese for much needed repairs for our parish school building. The Archdiocese has helped us many times when we have needed to make necessary repairs. Please help us by supporting DSF this year. We only have a few more months to reach our goal. Once again I am asking you to make a personal effort to help the church to reach the goal for DSF 2013. Notas del Párroco Estimados Feligreses: La meta para este año del Fondo de Servicios Diocesanos en nuestra parroquia es de $32,000

dólares. Sólo hemos llegado al 44,62% de ese objetivo. El año pasado pagamos el 91,08% de nuestra meta y se nos ha cobrado el dinero restante que son $ 2,766.50. Sólo tenemos hasta el final de Diciembre para llegar a nuestra meta para este año 2013. Lo que no alcancemos a pagar se nos cobrará en una factura enviada a nuestra parroquia y que tendremos que pagar de todos modos. Somos parte de la Arquidiócesis de Galveston-Houston y debemos apoyar a nuestra Arquidiócesis. La Arquidiócesis hace mucho para ayudar a la parroquia y la escuela. Recientemente hemos recibido una subsidio de la Arquidiócesis para las reparaciones tan necesarias que teníamos en la planta física de nuestra escuela parroquial. La Arquidiócesis nos ha ayudado muchas veces en que hemos necesitado esta clase de reparaciones necesarias. Por favor ayúdenos a apoyar el Fondo de Servicios Diocesanos de este año. Confirmation Adore Re: Life Series What would Peter the Apostle say to you and I today? Join Adore Ministries and hundreds of worshipers from across the city of Houston this Fall, as we unpack the First Letter of Peter, in the brand new series, Re: LIFE (Regarding Life). You are invited to join the Confirmation peer leaders for passionate worship, relevant teaching, and Eucharistic Adoration on Wednesday, October 2nd, at 7:00 PM at the Catholic Charismatic Center. 2013-2014 Peer Leaders The Confirmation Program would like to announce the selection of the 2013-2014 Confirmation Peer Leaders. These confirmed teens demonstrated a genuine commitment to give back of their time and talents to the youth of our parish community. They will be mentors to the Confirmation Class 2014 in addition to supporting various OLMC ministries. The first year peer leaders are Savannah Alvarado, Claudia Cantu, Lesly Herrera, Isaac Lopez, Felicia Mendoza, Cecilia Perez, and Jeenifer Sifuentes. Returning as second year peer leaders are Brianna Escobar, Samantha Holton, and Santiago Tobias. Candidates Mass Reminder the First Saturday Candidates Mass will be held on Saturday, October 5th at 5:00 PM. Candidates will sit together in the front reserved pews. Families are welcomed to join.

OLMC School News

Changes at OLMC School? You may have heard about the many, many improvements and changes at OLMC School this year. What changes you say? Well, when we say that we are "Building a Bright Future," we mean it both literally and figuratively! Improvements have been made for safety and maintenance of our campus, including a wider front driveway to accommodate pick-up and drop-off at the front of the school in the mornings and afternoons. We have added many new textbooks and learning materials, as well as online resources for our students, such as "Mathletics" that allow students to independently practice and improve their math skills. Additionally, our school uniform has been standardized across grade levels for a true uniform look among our students in PK-5 and 6-8. Students at OLMC School arrive to school each day dressed to learn and develop both academically and spiritually! We are blessed this year with an increase in enrollment, which has grown to over 190 students! Nonetheless, there is still much to do in our school facility that have been overlooked for years or decades. We are working hard to identify and plan for our current and future needs, all in support of the families we have here with Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School. Thank you for your ongoing support! Without loyal parishioners, supporters, volunteers, and parents, we could not achieve the goals of this Catholic educational ministry. It's Chocolate Time! OLMC School has started first big fundraiser of the year by selling products from World's Finest Chocolates! These delicious pure chocolate treats can be purchased from any student or from the school office. The school receives 50% of sales as fundraising profit, so we encourage you to consider purchasing some chocolate! We are often asked by parishioners, parents, and others in the community about opportunities to help at OLMC School. We do have identified needs that require financial and volunteer support. What are some ways you can help? Financial -- OLMC School continues to struggle financially each year, but we are working hard with goals in mind for academics and improvement of the physical plant. We are in need of additional financial resources to improve our textbooks and learning materials in all subjects. We are also in need of physical plant improvements, including exterior repair/paint, electrical wiring, computer networking, and remodeling of aging restrooms and classrooms. Hemos incrementado muchos libros de texto nuevos y materiales didácticos, así como recursos en línea para los estudiantes, tales como "Mathletics" que permiten a los estudiantes practicar de forma independiente y mejorar sus habilidades matemáticas. Además, nuestro uniforme escolar ha sido unificado en los diferentes grados dando un aspecto verdaderamente uniforme entre nuestros estudiantes en PK-5 y 6-8. Los estudiantes de la Escuela NSMC llegan a la escuela cada día revestidos de su deseo de aprender y desarrollarse académicamente y espiritualmente! Hemos sido bendecidos este año con un aumento en el número de niños matriculados, que ha crecido a más de 190 estudiantes! escuela. La escuela recibirá el 50% de las ganancias de estas ventas, por lo que animamos a todos a comprar algunos de estos chocolates!
