MESSAGE FROM FR. MICHAEL When I first came to you at St. Francis of Assisi, I remember feeling overwhelmed. Partly, I felt inundated by details and information. I simply wanted to be a loving and joyful priest. Now, as I prepare to leave my first parish home as a priest, I am again overwhelmed--this time, not by information, but with affection. I am so grateful for the relationships I’ve made and experiences I’ve had here in Marshalltown. I am overwhelmed by the many well-wishes, the cards, and acts of kindness toward me. I don’t think it possible for me to describe with great accuracy the affection and love I feel for you all. At St. Francis, I’ve learned to be a priest. You all have been my teachers. You’ve taught me how to love in a deeper and fuller way and how to be patient, loving, joyful, and to be merciful as a father. In the Gospel today, Jesus sends his disciples out on their first mission. In some ways, I feel like I am being sent from the comfort of my St. Francis family to go out and preach and heal in a new place. As I prepare for this new adventure, I go, like the disciples, taking nothing for the journey. But I don't go empty handed or empty hearted, as I'll take the love and relationships I've built here. I hope and pray that you show Fr. Kyle Tietz the same warmth and affection as you’ve shown me in these two short years. Please pray for me, and know that I will be praying for you. cisco de Asis, me sentí ago-biado. En parte, me sentí inun-

dado con detalles e infor-mación. Y yo solamente

quería ser un sacerdote cari-ñoso y alegre.

Ahora que me estoy prepa-rando para dejar mi primera

parroquia, nuevamente me siento agobiado, pero esta

vez no con la información sino que con el afecto. Estoy tan

agradecido por las amistades que he hecho y las expe-riencias que he tenido aquí en Marshalltown. Me siento

emocionado por todos los buenos deseos, las tarjetas, y los actos de generosidad conmigo.

He said to them, “Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave. Whatever place does not welcome you or listen to you, leave there and shake the dust off your feet in testimony against them.” So they went off and preached repentance. Creed

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, (bow) and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. Habrá una reunión informativa el domingo 25 de julio a la 1:00 PM en el comedor St. Henry.
