• Girando la llave de encendido ala posición "ON", el sistema secomporta del siguiente modo:

- activa simultáneamente todos los testi-gos (lamp check);

- pone a cero la posición de las agujas,que después realizan una carrera hastael fondo de escala y regresan nuevamen-te a cero;

- activa durante un segundo todos lossegmentos de ambas pantallas;

- apaga todos los testigos (menos los queestán activados) y las pantallas vuelvena la visualización normal.

Las programaciones estándar que se vi-sualizan en la pantalla son:

- odómetro Total (Pantalla LCD izquier-da) (1);

- temperatura aire (Pantalla LCD dere-cha) (2).

Digital lcd display (02_10)

• By turning the ignition key to"ON", the system works as fol-lows:

- it turns on all the warning lights at thesame time (lamp check);

- it resets the position of all the needles,which afterwards go to the bottom of thescale and return to zero;

- it activates all the segments of both dis-plays for one second;

- it turns off all the warning lights (exceptthe active ones) and the displays go backto standard view.

The standard indications displayed are:

- total odometer (left LCD Display) (1);

- air temperature (right LCD Display) (2).

When the vehicle is in fuel RESERVE:

• the word "FUEL" is automatical-ly shown on the right LCD dis-play (2); it alternates with themeasurement generally dis-played (Clock or air tempera-ture)

• The word "FUEL" does notcome on at start-up.

• Para volver a la modalidad nor-mal se debe girar la llave deencendido en "OFF".

Esta configuración no afecta a la unidadde medida para Odómetro/Trip (Km o Mi-llas).

Unit selection function

This function allows changing the unit ofmeasurement (°C or °F) for air tempera-ture.

• If the ignition key is set to "ON",press and hold down both keys(A and B): the current setting,either "EU" (°C) or "USA" (°F),flashes on the right LCD display(1).

• Press key (A): to shift from"EU" (°C) to "USA" (°F) and viceversa.

• Press and hold down key (B) for5 seconds and the last setting isstored permanently and theword "OFF" is shown on theright LCD display (1).

• To go back to the standardmode, turn the ignition key to"OFF".

This setting does not affect the unit ofmeasurement for the Odometer/Trip (Kmor Mile).

Steering Check that the rotation is uniform,smooth and there are no signs ofclearance or slackness.

Centre - side stand Check it works properly. Checkthat there is no resistance when theside stand is pulled up and downand that the spring tension makesit snap back to its rest position.Lubricate couplings and joints ifnecessary. Check the safetyswitch for correct operation.

Clamps Check that the clamping elementsare not loose.

Adjust or tighten them as required.

Fuel tank Check the coolant level and refill ifnecessary.

Rodaje

El rodaje del motor es fundamental paragarantizar su duración y su correcto fun-cionamiento. Recorrer, en lo posible, ca-rreteras con muchas curvas y/o concolinas, donde el motor, las suspensio-nes y los frenos sean sometidos a unrodaje más eficaz. Variar la velocidad deconducción durante el rodaje. De estamanera, se permite "recargar" el trabajode los componentes y luego "aliviarlo",enfriando las partes del motor.

ATENCIÓN

ES POSIBLE QUE DEL EMBRAGUESE DESPRENDA UN LEVE OLOR DEQUEMADO, DURANTE EL PRIMERPERIODO DE USO. ESTE FENÓMENOES PERFECTAMENTE NORMAL Y DE-SAPARECERÁ APENAS LOS DISCOSDEL EMBRAGUE TENGAN UN POCODE USO.

Engine run-in is essential to ensure en-gine long life and correct operation.Twisty roads and gradients are ideal torun in engine, brakes and suspensionseffectively. Vary your riding speed duringthe run-in. This ensures that componentsoperate under both "loaded" and "unloa-ded" conditions, allowing the enginecomponents to cool.

CAUTION

THE CLUTCH MAY EMIT A SLIGHTBURNING SMELL WHEN FIRST USED.THIS PHENOMENON SHOULD BECONSIDERED NORMAL AND WILLDISAPPEAR AS SOON AS THECLUTCH DISCS GET ADAPTED.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO STRAIN ENGINECOMPONENTS DURING RUN-IN,HOWEVER, MAKE SURE NOT TOOVERDO THIS.

ARRANQUE CON MOTOR AHOGADO

Si no se ejecuta correctamente el proce-dimiento de arranque o si hay un excesode combustible en los conductos de ad-misión, es posible que el motor se aho-gue.

Para limpiar un motor ahogado:

• Presionar el botón de arranque(1) durante algunos segundos(haciendo girar el motor en va-cío) con el puño del acelerador(3) completamente girado (Pos.A).

Difficult start up (03_08, 03_09,03_10)

START-UP WITH FLOODED ENGINE

The engine may get flooded if the start-up procedure is not properly carried outor there is excess fuel in the intake ducts.

To clean a flooded engine:

• Press the starter button (1) andhold for a few seconds (runningthe engine in neutral) with thethrottle (3) fully opened (Pos.A).

EL PROCEDIMIENTO CORRECTOPREVÉ EFECTUAR EL CONTROLDESPUÉS DE UN VIAJE O DESPUÉSDE HABER RECORRIDO APROXIMA-DAMENTE 15 Km (10 mi) FUERA DELA CIUDAD (SUFICIENTES PARAELEVAR LA TEMPERATURA DELACEITE DEL MOTOR).

CAUTION

DO NOT LET THE ENGINE IDLE WITHTHE VEHICLE AT STANDSTILL TOWARM UP THE ENGINE AND OBTAINTHE OPERATING TEMPERATURE OFENGINE OIL.

OIL IS BEST CHECKED AFTER A TRIPOR AFTER TRAVELLING APPROXI-MATELY 15 km (10 mi), OUT OF TOWN(ENOUGH TO WARM UP ENGINE OILTO OPERATING TEMPERATURE).

• Once the washer is fitted (8),manually screw the spark plugto avoid damaging the thread.

• Tighten it using the spannersupplied in the tool kit, makeeach spark plug complete 1/2 ofa turn to press the washer.

Spark plug tightening torque: 20 Nm (2kgm).

Para eliminar la suciedad y el fango de-positados en las superficies pintadas, esnecesario utilizar un chorro de agua abaja presión, mojar cuidadosamente laspartes sucias, eliminar el fango y la su-ciedad con una esponja suave para ca-rrocería, embebida en abundante agua ychampú (2 ÷ 4 partes de champú enagua). Luego enjuagar con abundanteagua y secar con una gamuza. Para lim-piar las partes exteriores del motor, utili-zar detergentes desengrasantes, pince-les y trapos. Las partes de aluminioanodizado o pintado como horquillas,llantas, chasis, estribos, etc. se deben la-var con jabón neutro y agua. El uso dedetergentes demasiado agresivos puedearruinar el tratamiento de la superficie deestos componentes.

Un mantenimiento adecuado constituyeun factor determinante para una mayorduración del vehículo en condiciones óp-timas de funcionamiento y rendimiento.

A tal fin Moto Guzzi dispuso una serie decontroles y de intervenciones de mante-nimiento a pagar, que se detallan en elcuadro sinóptico que se muestra en lapágina siguiente. Es recomendable queeventuales pequeñas anomalías de fun-cionamiento se informen inmediatamen-te al CONCESIONARIO o RevendedorAutorizado Moto Guzzi, sin esperar al si-guiente control periódico para remediar-lo.

Es indispensable realizar los controlesperiódicos en los intervalos de kilómetrosy tiempos prescritos, apenas se alcanzael kilometraje previsto. Los controles pe-riódicos de mantenimiento se debenefectuar puntualmente para la correctautilización de la garantía. Por cualquierotra información relacionada con la mo-dalidad de aplicación de la Garantía y laejecución del "Mantenimiento programa-do", remitirse al "Manual de Garantía".

Correct maintenance is fundamental forensuring the longevity of your vehicle andmaintaining optimum functionality andperformance.

For this purpose, Moto Guzzi has formu-lated a series of checks and scheduledservices (at the owner's expense), aresummarised in the table given in the fol-lowing page. We recommend having anyminor faults resolved immediately by anAuthorised Moto Guzzi Dealer, withoutwaiting until the next scheduled serviceinterval.
