    Aesop was a Greek writer in the 6th century B.C. He wrote stories calle d fables

    that were about animals . Aesops fables ended with a lesson , or moral, that

    explained the meaning of the story. A hare one day made fun of the short legs

    and slow pace of a tortoise , Who replied , laughing : Though you are fast and

    wind, I can beat you in race. The hare believed this way simply impossible

    and agreed to the race. On the day of the race the two started together . during

    the race, the tortoise never stopped for a moment. She went on with a slow but

    steady pace straight to the end of the course. The hare decided to res by the

    side of the road and fell asleep. At last the hare woke up and ran as fast as he

    could . He saw the tortoise had reached the finish line and was comfortably

    resting after winning the race.

    Moral : Slow but steady wins the race
