TIPOS DE DIABETESDiabetes tipo 1: El cuerpo no
produce o produce poca insulina. Esto se debe a que las células del páncreas que producen la insulina dejan de trabajar.
Se diagnostica con mayor frecuencia en niños, adolescentes o adultos jóvenes.

Diabetes tipo 2: es mucho más común. Generalmente se presenta en la edad adulta; sin embargo, ahora se está diagnosticando en adolescentes y adultos jóvenes debido a las tasas altas de obesidad.

PRUEBAS Y EXÁMENESPara determinar si una persona es
diabética hay que tener en cuenta los siguientes valores:
EXAMEN VALORESGlucemia en ayunas >126 mg/dL
Examen de hemoglobina A1C > 6.5%Prueba de tolerancia a la

TRATAMIENTOEl tratamiento tanto de la diabetes
tipo 1 como de la diabetes tipo 2 consiste en medicamentos, dieta y ejercicio para controlar el nivel de azúcar en la sangre.
