The prfiro is a type of volcanic rock found in San Lus Fortune, Mexico.

These rocks, which differ greatly in their composition and chemicalformation(training), are the result of the intense volcanic activity. Thisbegan 260 million years ago.

The porphyry is characterized for being arock that presents very clean vertical cracksand a fracture in flagstone. The chemicalcomposition of the porphyry and thedistinctive structure, as well as thestratification, determine the technical

characteristics of the porphyry (highresistance to the compression, chemicalagents, and a high coefficient of friction)which have made it one of the mostimportant materials for pavement in Europe,America and around the world.

The porphyry has a rough surface, due to thedifferences of hardness of the minerals that itcontains, thankfully it does not turn into aslippery surface when it rains. It is used topave mountainous steep ways, particularly inzones subject to frosts and bus ramps ofdepots. It has a cost of extremely lowmaintenance and this is verified by theexcellent conditions of the ways and pavedsquares many years ago.
