LA SIGNIFICACIÓN CULTURAL Y LITERARIA DEL EXILIO POLÍTICO ESPAÑOL (1939)THE CULTURAL AND LITERARY MEANING OF THE SPANISH POLITICAL EXILE OF 1939

Tras la finalización de la Guerra Civil, comenzó el proceso del exilio de miles de españoles que, forzados por las circunstancias, abandonaron masivamente su país. Coincidiendo con el setenta aniversario del inicio de este éxodo, la Fundación Francisco Largo Caballero y la Universidad de Exeter organizan este curso que tiene como objetivo difundir la cultura y la literatura española entre los alumnos de la Universidad de Exeter y de otros centros universitarios británicos, a través del estudio del trabajo de los intelectuales y escritores que protagonizaron la diáspora española tras la Guerra Civil y que contribuyeron con su trabajo a enriquecer las culturas de los países de adopción, entre ellos el propio Reino Unido.

With the end of the Civil War began the exile of many thousands of Spaniards, who, obliged by historical circumstance, would leave their native land. Exactly seventy years after this mass exodus, the Francisco Largo Caballero Foundation, together with the University of Exeter, has organised an international colloquium aimed at teachers and students of Spanish literature, history and culture at the University of Exeter and other British universities. The colloquium will be dedicated to the study of those writers and intellectuals prominent in the post-Civil War Spanish Diaspora who, through their work, were to enrich the cultures of the lands, among them the United Kingdom, which they would come to regard as their own.
