Descripción del productoLa llave de memoria USB 2.0 de 128 MB de IBM es un dispositivo dealmacenamiento USB compacto y portátil que se puede utilizar para compartirconvenientemente datos entre sistemas portátiles y sistemas de escritorio.

Además, la llave de memoria incluye dos programas de utilidad de software paraparticionar el almacenamiento disponible en áreas protegidas y públicas así comopara la protección con contraseñas.

Requisitos de instalaciónAntes de instalar la llave de memoria USB 2.0 de 128 MB de IBM, asegúrese detener lo siguiente:v Uno de los siguientes sistemas operativos:

Instalación de la llave de memoria en Windows Me, Windows 2000 oWindows XP

Windows Me, Windows 2000 y Windows XP ofrecen soporte incorporado para lallave de memoria USB 2.0 y no son necesarios controladores de dispositivo.Simplemente se debe conectar la llave de memoria al conector USB. La llave dememoria ya está lista para que se utilice y se visualice como disco extraíble conuna designación de letra (por ejemplo, la E:).

Instalación de la llave de memoria en Windows 98Los archivos de controlador de dispositivo de Windows 98 deben estar instaladosen el sistema para poder utilizar la llave de memoria. Para instalar loscontroladores de dispositivo de la llave de memoria en Windows 98, haga losiguiente:

1. Conecte la llave de memoria al conector USB.2. Se abrirá la ventana Asistente para el nuevo hardware.3. En la ventana Asistente para el nuevo hardware pulse Siguiente.

4. Seleccione Buscar el mejor controlador para el dispositivo y, a continuación,pulse Siguiente.

5. Seleccione CD-ROM y pulse Siguiente. Siga las instrucciones que aparecen enla pantalla.

6. La llave de memoria ya estará lista para utilizar y se visualiza como un discoextraíble en la ventana Mi PC.

Nota: Un diodo emisor de luz (LED) parpadeará indicando que se está accediendoa los datos. No extraiga la llave de memoria mientras el LED parpadee yaque podría ocasionar la pérdida de los archivos de datos.

Utilización del software de seguridadEste apartado explica cómo utilizar el software de seguridad de la llave dememoria USB de 128 MB de IBM.

IntroducciónLa primera vez que utilice el hardware de la llave de memoria, aparecerá comoicono de disco extraíble en la ventana Mi PC. Pulse el icono de disco extraíble paravisualizar dos archivos,Login.exe y Partition.exe.

Login.exe le permite asignar una contraseña y un inicio de sesión a un áreaprotegida. Partition.exe le permite crear un área de almacenamiento protegida yeditar su tamaño.

Puede elegir utilizar la llave de memoria de una de estas formas:v Conserve la llave de 128 MB como área de almacenamiento pública y haga que

su sistema la pueda arrancar. Consulte el apartado “Cómo hacer que la llave dememoria pueda arrancar el sistema” en la página 4.

v Cree dos áreas de almacenamiento, un área pública y un área protegida concontraseña. Consulte el apartado “Puesta a punto del área protegida” que figuraa continuación.

Nota: Al crear un área protegida se elimina la posibilidad de arranque de lallave de memoria.

Puesta a punto del área protegida

AtenciónAl utilizar el programa de utilidad Partition.exe se elimina la posibilidad dearranque que por omisión viene de fábrica. Elimine este archivo si estápensando utilizar la llave para arrancar el sistema. Consulte el apartado“Cómo hacer que la llave de memoria pueda arrancar el sistema” en lapágina 4.

Para crear el área de almacenamiento protegida, efectúe una doble pulsación sobrePartition.exe y siga las instrucciones que aparecerán por pantalla. Se le solicitaráque escriba una contraseña y una indicación adicional (en caso de que se olvide dela contraseña).

Tras crear un área protegida, efectúe una doble pulsación sobre Login.exe y sigalas instrucciones que aparecen por pantalla para asignar una contraseña al áreaprotegida.

Acceso al área protegidaUna vez establecida la contraseña, efectúe una doble pulsación sobre Login.exe yescriba su contraseña para obtener acceso al área protegida. Siga las instruccionesque aparecen por pantalla para cambiar la contraseña o visualizar su indicación.

Si ha escrito la contraseña incorrecta tres veces seguidas, deberá restablecer lallave.

Atención:Al restablecer la llave se borrarán todos los datos del área protegida.

Nota: No hay disponible soporte para alterar temporalmente la protección de lacontraseña.

Los datos del área pública no se verán afectados. Tras la operación de restablecer,efectúe una doble pulsación sobre Logine.exe

Finalización de la sesión del área protegidaDesde el área protegida, efectúe una doble pulsación sobre el archivo Logout parasalir del área protegida y volver al área pública.

AtenciónAsegúrese de guardar y salir de todos los archivos abiertos antes de finalizarla sesión del área protegida.

Cambio del tamaño de la partición del área protegida

AtenciónNo olvide realizar una copia de seguridad de los datos antes de cambiar lapartición. Al cambiar el tamaño del área protegida se perderían por completodatos que se pudieran encontrar tanto en áreas de almacenamiento públicocomo protegido .

Para cambiar el tamaño de la partición del área protegida, realice lo siguiente:1. Efectúe una doble pulsación sobre el archivo Partition.exe y siga las

instrucciones que aparecerán por pantalla para cambiar el tamaño del áreaprotegida.

2. Efectúe una doble pulsación sobre el archivo Login.exe y escriba su contraseñapara abrir el área protegida nueva.

Nota: Al cambiar el tamaño del área protegida no se cambia la contraseña.

Modalidad de suspensión o hibernación con la llave dememoria activa

Si el sistema pasa a la modalidad de suspensión o hibernación mientras la llave seencuentra en el área protegida, pulse la tecla F5 para renovar la pantalla.

Cuando aparezca el área pública, utilice el mandato Login.exe para volver aacceder a la misma.

Si el área pública aparece mientras la máquina pasa a la modalidad de hibernación,no es necesario renovar la pantalla pulsando la tecla F5.

Cómo hacer que la llave de memoria pueda arrancar el sistemaPara que la llave de memoria pueda iniciar el sistema, haga lo siguiente:

1. Póngase en contacto con el fabricante del sistema o portátil para confirmar siel BIOS soporta las llaves de memoria USB y el arranque con un dispositivoUSB. Puede que tenga que bajar alguna actualización del BIOS para activarestas funciones.

2. Apague el sistema. Arranque el sistema y espere a que éste termine suinicialización.

3. Conecte la llave de memoria a cualquier conector USB disponible y espere aque aparezca el escritorio.

4. Inserte la llave de memoria en cualquier conector USB disponible y espere aque el sistema operativo la reconozca.

5. Transfiera todos los archivos que desee guardar de la llave de memoria a otrodispositivo de almacenamiento.

6. Inserte el CD que acompañaba a la llave de memoria.7. En la ventana del CD, localice la carpeta Software y ábrala. Pulse el archivo

Memkeyboot.exe. Este archivo ejecutable buscará la llave de memoria. Si nose puede encontrar la llave, aparecerá un mensaje de error.

8. Seleccione Aceptar y la aplicación dará formato automáticamente a la llave dememoria y transferirá los archivos de tipo PC-DOS necesarios. Si la aplicacióndetermina que la llave de memoria se ha particionado, aparecerá un mensajede error. Consulte el apartado “Cambio del tamaño de la partición del áreaprotegida” en la página 3 para obtener información sobre cómo convertir enpública toda la llave de memoria.

9. Después de que la aplicación termine satisfactoriamente aparecerá un mensajede confirmación. Si desea ver los archivos de arranque de la llave, es posibleque tenga que conectar de nuevo la llave de memoria al sistema.

10. Consulte la documentación del sistema sobre cómo acceder a los valores delBIOS.

11. Apague el sistema. Asegúrese de que la llave de memoria esté insertada en unconector USB que esté disponible.

12. Inicie el sistema y utilice los pasos marcados en la documentación del sistemapara acceder a los valores del BIOS.

13. En el BIOS, localice el apartado que determina el orden de arranque de losdispositivos de la configuración del sistema. Cambie el orden de arranque delos dispositivos de la forma siguiente:a. Unidad de disquetes legal (unidad de disquetes de 3,5 pulgadas)

Nota: Sólo para sistemas y portátiles con unidades de disquetes de 3,5pulgadas.

b. Unidad de CD-ROM ATAPI u otra unidad óptica, como por ejemplo DVD.c. Unidad de disco duro - llave de memoria USB.d. Unidad de disco duro - unidad de disco duro principal que contiene el

sistema operativo o archivos de datos.14. Guarde los valores nuevos y salga del BIOS.15. Reinicie el sistema con la llave de memoria conectada; el sistema arrancará e

irá al indicador del DOS.

Recuperación de los archivos del programa de utilidadSi suprime o pierde los archivos de utilidad, Login.exe y Partition.exe, podrávolverlos a instalar desde el CD que se suministra con este dispositivo. Para copiarlos archivos, haga lo siguiente:1. Inserte el CD de la llave de memoria USB 2.0 de 128 de IBM en la unidad de

CD-ROM.2. Utilice la ventana del navegador de su sistema operativo (por ejemplo, el

Explorador de Windows) para buscar el directorio D:\software, donde D: es laletra del CD-ROM.

3. Abra la llave de memoria en otra ventana del navegador.4. Copie los archivos del CD a la ventana de la llave de memoria.

Si crea el ″área protegida″, habrá dos archivos residentes adicionales, Logout.exe yDesktop.ini. Pueden reinstalarse siguiendo los pasos del 1 al 4, pero se tendránque copiar en el ″área protegida″ de la llave.

Part 1 - General TermsThis Statement of Limited Warranty includes Part 1 - General Terms and Part 2 -Country-unique Terms. The terms of Part 2 replace or modify those of Part 1. Thewarranties provided by IBM in this Statement of Limited Warranty apply only toMachines you purchase for your use, and not for resale, from IBM or your reseller.The term “Machine” means an IBM machine, its features, conversions, upgrades,elements, or accessories, or any combination of them. The term “Machine” doesnot include any software programs, whether pre-loaded with the Machine,installed subsequently or otherwise. Unless IBM specifies otherwise, the followingwarranties apply only in the country where you acquire the Machine. Nothing inthis Statement of Limited Warranty affects any statutory rights of consumers thatcannot be waived or limited by contract. If you have any questions, contact IBM oryour reseller.

The IBM Warranty for Machines: IBM warrants that each Machine 1) is free fromdefects in materials and workmanship and 2) conforms to IBM’s Official PublishedSpecifications (“Specifications”). The warranty period for a Machine is a specified,fixed period commencing on its Date of Installation. The date on your sales receiptis the Date of Installation unless IBM or your reseller informs you otherwise.

If a Machine does not function as warranted during the warranty period, and IBMor your reseller are unable to either 1) make it do so or 2) replace it with one thatis at least functionally equivalent, you may return it to your place of purchase andyour money will be refunded.

Extent of Warranty: The warranty does not cover the repair or exchange of aMachine resulting from misuse, accident, modification, unsuitable physical oroperating environment, improper maintenance by you, or failure caused by aproduct for which IBM is not responsible. The warranty is voided by removal oralteration of Machine or parts identification labels.

THESE WARRANTIES ARE YOUR EXCLUSIVE WARRANTIES AND REPLACEALL OTHER WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED,INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES ORCONDITIONS OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULARPURPOSE. THESE WARRANTIES GIVE YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS ANDYOU MAY ALSO HAVE OTHER RIGHTS WHICH VARY FROMJURISDICTION TO JURISDICTION. Items Not Covered by Warranty: IBM does not warrant uninterrupted or error-freeoperation of a Machine. Any technical or other support provided for a Machineunder warranty, such as assistance via telephone with “how-to” questions andthose regarding Machine set-up and installation, will be provided WITHOUTWARRANTIES OF ANY KIND.

Warranty Service: To obtain warranty service for a Machine, contact IBM or yourreseller. If you do not register your Machine with IBM, you may be required topresent proof of purchase.

During the warranty period, IBM or your reseller, if approved by IBM to providewarranty service, provides without charge certain types of repair and exchangeservice to keep Machines in, or restore them to, conformance with theirSpecifications. IBM or your reseller will inform you of the available types ofservice for a Machine based on its country of installation. At its discretion, IBM oryour reseller will 1) either repair or exchange the failing Machine and 2) providethe service either at your location or a service center. IBM or your reseller will alsomanage and install selected engineering changes that apply to the Machine.

Some parts of IBM Machines are designated as Customer Replaceable Units (called“CRUs”), e.g., keyboards, memory, or hard disk drives. IBM ships CRUs to you forreplacement by you. You must return all defective CRUs to IBM within 30 days ofyour receipt of the replacement CRU. You are responsible for downloadingdesignated Machine Code and Licensed Internal Code updates from an IBMInternet Web site or from other electronic media, and following the instructionsthat IBM provides.

When warranty service involves the exchange of a Machine or part, the item IBMor your reseller replaces becomes its property and the replacement becomes yours.You represent that all removed items are genuine and unaltered. The replacementmay not be new, but will be in good working order and at least functionallyequivalent to the item replaced. The replacement assumes the warranty servicestatus of the replaced item. Many features, conversions, or upgrades involve theremoval of parts and their return to IBM. A part that replaces a removed part willassume the warranty service status of the removed part.

Before IBM or your reseller exchanges a Machine or part, you agree to remove allfeatures, parts, options, alterations, and attachments not under warranty service.

You also agree to1. ensure that the Machine is free of any legal obligations or restrictions that

prevent its exchange;2. obtain authorization from the owner to have IBM or your reseller service a

Machine that you do not own; and3. where applicable, before service is provided:

a. follow the problem determination, problem analysis, and service requestprocedures that IBM or your reseller provides;

b. secure all programs, data, and funds contained in a Machine;c. provide IBM or your reseller with sufficient, free, and safe access to your

facilities to permit them to fulfill their obligations; andd. inform IBM or your reseller of changes in a Machine’s location.

IBM is responsible for loss of, or damage to, your Machine while it is 1) in IBM’spossession or 2) in transit in those cases where IBM is responsible for thetransportation charges.

Neither IBM nor your reseller is responsible for any of your confidential,proprietary or personal information contained in a Machine which you return toIBM or your reseller for any reason. You should remove all such information fromthe Machine prior to its return.

Limitation of Liability: Circumstances may arise where, because of a default onIBM’s part or other liability, you are entitled to recover damages from IBM. In eachsuch instance, regardless of the basis on which you are entitled to claim damagesfrom IBM (including fundamental breach, negligence, misrepresentation, or other

contract or tort claim), except for any liability that cannot be waived or limited byapplicable laws, IBM is liable for no more than1. damages for bodily injury (including death) and damage to real property and

tangible personal property; and2. the amount of any other actual direct damages, up to the charges (if recurring,

12 months’ charges apply) for the Machine that is subject of the claim. Forpurposes of this item, the term “Machine” includes Machine Code andLicensed Internal Code.This limit also applies to IBM’s suppliers and your reseller. It is the maximumfor which IBM, its suppliers, and your reseller are collectively responsible.

Limitation of Liability: The following is added to this Section: Where IBM is in breachof a condition or warranty implied by the Trade Practices Act 1974 or other similarlegislation, IBM’s liability is limited to the repair or replacement of the goods orthe supply of equivalent goods. Where that condition or warranty relates to rightto sell, quiet possession or clear title, or the goods are of a kind ordinarily acquiredfor personal, domestic or household use or consumption, then none of thelimitations in this paragraph apply.

The following is added to this Section: Disputes and differences arising out of or inconnection with this Agreement shall be finally settled by arbitration which shallbe held in Singapore in accordance with the rules of the International Chamber ofCommerce (ICC). The arbitrator or arbitrators designated in conformity with thoserules shall have the power to rule on their own competence and on the validity ofthe Agreement to submit to arbitration. The arbitration award shall be final andbinding for the parties without appeal and the arbitral award shall be in writingand set forth the findings of fact and the conclusions of law.

All proceedings shall be conducted, including all documents presented in suchproceedings, in the English language. The number of arbitrators shall be three,with each side to the dispute being entitled to appoint one arbitrator.

The two arbitrators appointed by the parties shall appoint a third arbitrator beforeproceeding upon the reference. The third arbitrator shall act as chairman of theproceedings. Vacancies in the post of chairman shall be filled by the president ofthe ICC. Other vacancies shall be filled by the respective nominating party.Proceedings shall continue from the stage they were at when the vacancy occurred.

If one of the parties refuses or otherwise fails to appoint an arbitrator within 30days of the date the other party appoints its, the first appointed arbitrator shall bethe sole arbitrator, provided that the arbitrator was validly and properlyappointed.

The English language version of this Agreement prevails over any other languageversion.

HONG KONG AND MACAU

Governing Law: The following replaces “laws of the country in which you acquired theMachine” in the first sentence: laws of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Limitation of Liability: The following is added to this Section: Where Machines arenot acquired for the purposes of a business as defined in the Consumer GuaranteesAct 1993, the limitations in this Section are subject to the limitations in that Act.

PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA (PRC)

Governing Law: The following replaces this Section: Both you and IBM consent to theapplication of the laws of the State of New York (except when local law requiresotherwise) to govern, interpret, and enforce all your and IBM’s rights, duties, andobligations arising from, or relating in any manner to, the subject matter of thisAgreement, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any disputes arising from or in connection with this Agreement will first beresolved by friendly negotiations, failing which either of us has the right to submitthe dispute to the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commissionin Beijing, the PRC, for arbitration in accordance with its arbitration rules in forceat the time. The arbitration tribunal will consist of three arbitrators. The languageto be used therein will be English and Chinese. An arbitral award will be final andbinding on all the parties, and will be enforceable under the Convention on theRecognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards (1958).

The arbitration fee will be borne by the losing party unless otherwise determinedby the arbitral award.

During the course of arbitration, this Agreement will continue to be performedexcept for the part which the parties are disputing and which is undergoingarbitration.

EUROPE, MIDDLE EAST, AFRICA (EMEA)

THE FOLLOWING TERMS APPLY TO ALL EMEA COUNTRIES: The terms of thisStatement of Limited Warranty apply to Machines purchased from IBM or an IBMreseller.

Warranty service in Africa is available within 50 kilometers of an IBMauthorized service provider. You are responsible for transportation costs forMachines located outside 50 kilometers of an IBM authorized service provider.

Governing Law: The applicable laws that govern, interpret and enforce rights,duties, and obligations of each of us arising from, or relating in any manner to, thesubject matter of this Statement, without regard to conflict of laws principles, aswell as Country-unique terms and competent court for this Statement are those ofthe country in which the warranty service is being provided, except that in 1)Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Former YugoslavRepublic of Macedonia, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus,Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan,Ukraine, and Uzbekistan, the laws of Austria apply; 2) Estonia, Latvia, andLithuania, the laws of Finland apply; 3) Algeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon,Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Djibouti, Democratic Republicof Congo, Equatorial Guinea, France, Gabon, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau,Ivory Coast, Lebanon, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, Senegal, Togo, andTunisia, this Agreement will be construed and the legal relations between theparties will be determined in accordance with the French laws and all disputesarising out of this Agreement or related to its violation or execution, includingsummary proceedings, will be settled exclusively by the Commercial Court ofParis; 4) Angola, Bahrain, Botswana, Burundi, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana,Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Liberia, Malawi, Malta, Mozambique, Nigeria, Oman,Pakistan, Qatar, Rwanda, Sao Tome, Saudi Arabia, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Tanzania,Uganda, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, West Bank/Gaza, Yemen,Zambia, and Zimbabwe, this Agreement will be governed by English Law anddisputes relating to it will be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Englishcourts; and 5) in Greece, Israel, Italy, Portugal, and Spain any legal claim arisingout of this Statement will be brought before, and finally settled by, the competentcourt of Athens, Tel Aviv, Milan, Lisbon, and Madrid, respectively.

AUSTRIA AND GERMANY

The IBM Warranty for Machines: The following replaces the first sentence of the firstparagraph of this Section: The warranty for an IBM Machine covers the functionalityof the Machine for its normal use and the Machine’s conformity to itsSpecifications.

The minimum warranty period for Machines is six months. Extent of Warranty: The second paragraph does not apply.

Warranty Service: The following is added to this Section: During the warranty period,transportation for delivery of the failing Machine to IBM will be at IBM’s expense.

Limitation of Liability: The following paragraph is added to this Section: Thelimitations and exclusions specified in the Statement of Limited Warranty will notapply to damages caused by IBM with fraud or gross negligence and for expresswarranty.

The following sentence is added to the end of item 2: IBM’s liability under this item islimited to the violation of essential contractual terms in cases of ordinarynegligence.

EGYPT

Limitation of Liability: The following replaces item 2 in this Section: as to any otheractual direct damages, IBM’s liability will be limited to the total amount you paidfor the Machine that is the subject of the claim. FRANCE

IRELAND

Extent of Warranty: The following is added to this Section: Except as expresslyprovided in these terms and conditions, all statutory conditions, including allwarranties implied, but without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing allwarranties implied by the Sale of Goods Act 1893 or the Sale of Goods and Supplyof Services Act 1980 are hereby excluded.
