NUMEROS
Los números cardinales:
1 one
21 twenty-one
2 two 22 twenty-two
3 three 30 thirty
4 four 40 forty
5 five 50 fifty
6 six 60 sixty
7 seven 70 seventy
8 eight 80 eighty
9 nine 90 ninety
10 ten 100 a/one hundred
11 eleven 101 a/one hundred and one
12 twelve 200 two hundred
13 thirteen 1000 a/one thousand
14 fourteen 10000 ten thousand
15 fifteen 100000 a/one hundred thousand
16 sixteen 1000000 a/one million
17 seventeen
18 eighteen
19 nineteen
20 twenty
I insist that it cost
one thousand, not three.
de mil novecientos metros, Benito Juarez airport has a nineteen hundred metre
runway.
En cuanto a números como 100, 1.000, 1.000.000, etc. se pueden decir de dos
maneras: one hundred o a hundred, one thousand o a thousand.
montos, por ejemplo: no decimos US$ 4 millions sino US$ 4 million. En cambio
podemos hablar de "millions" of birds, "millions" of children, etc.

VERBO TO BE
I am English / Soy ingles I am in England / Estoy en Inglaterra Tiene algunos usos especiales distintos a sus equivalentes españoles.
Mary is 20 years old / Maria tiene 20 años I am 21 / Yo tengo 21 años
How old are you? / ¿Cuántos años tienes?
- Para expresar las sensaciones también se emplea el verbo 'to be' y equivale al 'tener' español.
Are you hungry? / ¿Tienes hambre? He is thirsty / Tiene sed

It's windy / Hace viento It's very cold / Hace mucho frío

Adjetivos posesivos (Possessives Adjetives )
Possessive Adjectives
my mi / mis
your tu / tus /su/sus
his su / sus
her su / sus
its su / sus
our nuestro/a/os/as
your vuestro/a/os/as
my house its house your house our house his house your house her house their house
John lives in New York. His house is very big.
John vive en Nueva York. Su casa es muy grande.
Susan lives in New York. Her house is very big.
The cat lives in New York. Its name is Bob. El gato vive en Nueva York. Su nombre es Bob.

UNIT 2 WHAT’S THIS?
Articulo Indefinido A - AN
A dog Un perro.
An elephant Un elefante.
A car Un automóvil.
A horse. Un caballo. A university Una universidad.
An apple. Una manzana.
An hour Una hora An umbrella.
Se usa A y AN para designar a personas y objetos: An umbrella Un paraguas. A book Un libro.
He is a lawyer. I am a doctor. She is an engineer.
A cat is a quiet pet.
objetos o personas: A lot of people. Una gran cantidad de gente.
A dozen of apples. Una docena de manzanas.

El artículo definido THE
Ejemplos:
The boy (el niño) masculino-singular The boys (los niños) masculino-plural
The girl (la niña) femenino-singular The girls (las niñas) femenino-plural
The book (el libro) neutro-singular The books (los libros) neutro-plural
Este artículo puede ir precedido de las preposiciones of, to. En inglés no hay
contracción de preposición y artículo. "Del" y "al" se traducen por: of the (del) to the
(al).
Ejemplos:
Days of the week (días de la semana) I'm going to the garden (me voy al jardín)
Cuando No usamos el artículo The
Cuando hablamos de algo en general. Ejemplo. I like vegetables.

book (libro) books (libros)
bus -> buses (autobus) tomato -> tomatoes (tomate)
wife (esposa) -> wives wolf (lobo) -> wolves
plurales irregulares.
foot (pie) - feet mouse (ratón) -mice
man (hombre) men tooth ( diente) teeth
woman (mujer) women person ( persona) people
child ( niño/niña) children goose ( ganzo) geese
ox ( buey) oxen louse ( piojo) lice
penny ( centavo) pence
Scissors (tijeras) Tongs (tenazas)
Pliers (pinzas) Glasses (lentes)

En esta ocasión el significado es:
What’s María like? She is thin and funny.
¿Como es María? Ella es delgada y divertida.
No puedes utilizar la frase: How is she?

UNIT 5 WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
THE TIME
10.20 ten twenty
2.15 two fifteen
5.45 five forty-five
Es más normal decir: 'In the morning', 'In the afternoon', 'In the evening', 'At night'
7:00 am. = Seven o'clock in the morning. 2:15 pm. = quarter past two in the afternoon. 7:30 pm. = half past seven in the evening
11:00 pm. = eleven o'clock at night Opción 2.
significa 'of the clock' (del reloj).
11:00 eleven a.m ó eleven in the morning eleven p.m ó eleven at night
Opcion 3.
1:00 one o'clock
3:10 ten past three
4:15 a quarter past four
5:30 half past five
8:35 twenty-five to nine
9:45 a quarter to ten
Guía de Actividades Inglés 1 76 Editado por Ing. DLMS
Para responder a:
What time is it? What's the time?
Se utiliza: It's ... (Es la... Son las...)
(It's about ... (Son aproximadamente las ... )

Look at the clocks and write the time.
Guía de Actividades Inglés 1 77 Editado por Ing. DLMS
Present continuous
Ejemplo: I’m having a bath now. Me estoy bañando ahora.
hablar. Ejemplos:
My brother is working in a pizza restaurant at the moment.
I´m learning French at the moment.
Affirmative Negative Interrogative
I am working I am not living Am I singing?
You are working You are not living Are you singing ?
He is eating He is not going Is he cooking ?
She is eating She is not going Is she cooking ?
It is sleeping It is not flying Is it running ?
We are sleeping We are not flying Are we running ?
You are visiting You are not watching Are you traveling ?
They are visiting They are not watching Are they traveling ?
Recuérdese que podemos contraer las formas del verbo to be: I´m, you´re, he´s etc. Error común: I listening to music.
Ejemplos:
Listen / listening meet/ meeting do / doing Go / going read / reading pass / passing
Ejemplos:
Survive/surviving leave/leaving behave/behaving
Live/living write/writing hide/hiding
Guía de Actividades Inglés 1 78 Editado por Ing. DLMS
Ejemplos:
Stop/stopping knit/knitting put/putting Swim/swimming rob/robbing run/running

IV. READING AND WRITING
Read the extract about Jennifer Lopez .
A day with Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Lopez, the famous movie star, singer and fashion designer, has a very busy daily routine. She gets up at 5:00 am, puts on her sweats and works out with her personal trainer for an hour. After that, she takes a shower and she has breakfast at 7:00 am. Sometimes she is off to the recording studio to record her latest CD or to the movie site to film her latest movie. She usually goes to a photo shoot for a magazine, too. She works until 1:00. Then, she takes an hour lunch break. After lunch, she reads the script for the
next day, or practices her dance moves for her latest video clip. She leaves the studio at about 5 o’clock. Jennifer meets with her friends or family after 6:00 and has dinner with them. Short Questions and Short Answers with Simple Present
siguiente ejemplo:
ESPAÑOL INGLES
¿Tienes un perro? Do you have a dog?
No / Si No, I don’t / Yes, I do
ESPAÑOL INGLES
¿Tiene María un gato? Does Maria have a cat?
Si / No Yes, She does / No, She doesn’t
Otros ejemplos:
Does Pedro live in an apartment? No, he doesn’t. He lives in a house
Vive Pedro en un apartamento? No. El vive en una casa
Do Tom and Sue have a big house? Yes, they do.
Tom y Sue tienen una casa grande? Sí.
Do you and your brother share a room? Yes, we do.
cotidiana.
Tambien a veces en lugar de pronombres (I, you, he, she, it, we, you, they) aparecen
pregunta debe empezar con “does”. Ejemplo:
“Does your sister have a car?” Yes, she does. She has a JETTA
1.-________your brother live alone?
2.-________your dog have a dog house?
3.-________ your parents have a beach house?
4.-_________ you and your brother live in big house?
5.-_________ you have a car?
Guía de Actividades Inglés 1 113 Editado por Ing. DLMS
6.-_________María live far from here?
7.-__________ your house have a garden?
√ 1.Do you have a big house? Yes, I do
Χ 2.Do you have a small apartment? No, I don’t
Χ 3.Does Mario study French? ______________
Χ 4.Does Karen dance ballet? ______________
√ 5.Does the dog sleep inside the house? ______________
√ 6.Do Hugo and Luis go to the University? ______________
Χ 7.Do Kylie and Andy eat vegetables? ______________
Χ 8.Do you and sister like ice cream? ______________
√ 9.Does Luis Miguel sing romantic music? ______________

Ivan Mirsky is thirteen and he is the number 13 player in the
world. He was born in Russia but now lives in America with his
father, Vadim. They live in a one-room flat in Brooklyn. Ivan
doesn’t go to school and his father doesn’t have a job. They
practice chess problems all day, every day, every morning,
afternoon and evening.
Ivan was different from a very young age: He could ride a
bike when he was eighteen months old and read before he was
two. He could play cards at three and the piano at four. When
he was twelve, he was the under-20 chess champion of Russia.
His father can’t speak English and can’t play chess, either! Ivan translates for him. Vadim says,
“I know that I can’t play chess, but I can still help Ivan. He and I don’t have any friends-we don’t
want any friend. Other teenagers are boring! We don’t like playing sports or watching TV. We
live for chess!”
