    Abstract: Eigh t f lavonoids, four 6-oxygen ated f lavones, two m ethyl e thers of

    luteolin, apigenin 6,8-C-diglucoside and quercetin 3-O-glucoside, were isolated

    f r om

    Nama lobbii

    and

    N. rothrockii,

    sole members of sects .

    Arachnoidea

    and

    Cinerascentia, respectively. Both taxa d iverge m arked ly f rom o ther na m as in

    mor pho logy a nd c h r omosome numbe r a nd the i r p l a c e me n t i n

    Nama

    has been

    quest ioned. T he occu rrence of 6-oxygen ated f lavones in these taxa adds to their

    a lready dist inctive nature . Flav ono id evidence argues tha t b oth are m ore c losely

    allied to Eriodictyon than e i ther is to Nama.
