REUNION DE PADRES TITULO 1

Habrá una reunión informativa para padres del titulo 1 el lunes 30 de septiembre en la cafetería de la preparatoria a partir de las 6:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. discutiremos como se seleccionan los estudiantes para los ser-vicios de titulo 1, los programas que utiliza-remos para el apoyo en lectura y matemá-ticas y estrategias para el uso en el hogar. Si recibe una carta por correo únase a no-sotros.

RECAUDACION DE FONDOS ESCOLARES

Estamos haciendo una recaudación de fondos en toda la escuela comenzando el martes, 1ro de oc-tubre. Este será nuestro 3er año con esta recauda-ción. Es muy simple para las familias. Cada estu-diante recibió un paquete. Tienen que entregar 3 correos electrónicos de familia o amigos. Enton-ces el estúdiate recibe un código. El estudiante tiene que poner el código en el paquete y regre-sarlo a la escuela. Si el código esta escrito en el sobre, los estudiantes en los grados K-3 recibirán una Mascota de Mochila, y los estudiantes en grados 4-6, 8 recibirán una banda de ejerci-cio. 14U PRUEBAS DE BEISBOL

Para la temporada 2020 de beisbol de Bremen 14U es el sábado, 28 de septiembre 2:00-4:00 en la cancha 14U. Tendremos una práctica op-cional el jueves, 26 de septiembre de 6:00-7:30 que consistirá en un ligero golpe de una maquina de lanzamiento y ejercicios de campo para ayudar a sacudir el oxido si su hijo esta interesado. El calenta-miento no es obligatorio.

10U PRUEBAS DE BEISBOL

Bremen 10U All-stars tendrá sus pruebas para la temporada 2020 en septiembre en el diamante de las Grandes Ligas (sur). Marque sus calendarios con las fechas y horas a continuación su hijo esta interesado en probarlo. Para se elegible, su hijo tienen para cum-plir 11 años antes del 1ro de mayo de 2020 y de participar en la Liga Recreativa de Beisbol Juvenil de Bremen. Esta es una prueba de dos días así que la planea asistir a ambos la lados. Miércoles, septiembre 25 5:30 a 7:30 primera prueba. Sábado, Septiembre 28 3:00 a 5:00 segunda y última prueba. americano de Indiana cuando los Leones fueron Campeones Esta-tales de Futbol Americano IHSAA clase 2A. Para conmemorar este momento memorable, lo miembros del equipo del campeonato estatal serán reconocidos durante las festividades de regreso a

casa de Bremen el viernes 4 de octubre . Estamos entusiasmados por la oportunidad de recordar al equipo de futbol americano de

Bremen de 1994 y su temporada mágica. No se preocupe por la cena y comience la celebración a las 5:00 pm. Introduction: Bremen Public Schools is committed to providing an environment that promotes and protects children’s health, well-being, and ability to learn by supporting healthy eating and physical activity. Bremen Public Schools plays an important role in the developmental process by helping students establish their health and nutrition habits by providing nutritious meals and snacks throughout the schools’ meal programs, by supporting the development of good eating habits, and by promoting increased physical activity both in and out of school. However, Bremen Public Schools alone can not develop the students’ healthy behaviors and habits with regards to eating and exercise. It will be necessary for the staff as well as parents and the public to be involved in a community-wide effort to promote, support, and model healthy behaviors and habits. The school board has set forth the following goals in an effort to enable students to establish good health and nutrition habits:

1. Wellness Committee: Bremen Public Schools will engage students, parents, teachers, food service professionals, health professionals, and other interested community members in developing, implementing, monitoring, and reviewing district-wide nutrition and physical activity policies.

a. Expectation: To gather stakeholders to review and update the BPS wellness plan. Stakeholders include food service personnel, administrator(s), school board member(s), physical education and health teachers, school nurse, guidance counselors, interested staff members, students, parents, and other community members.

b. Expectation: To meet as a committee twice each school year (September and March) to review and update the corporation wellness plan.

2. Nutritional Guidelines for All Foods and Beverages Sold: The food service program will comply with federal (USDA) and state regulations pertaining to the selection, preparation, consumption, and disposal of foods and beverages as well as with the fiscal management of the program. The food service program may invite students, parents, staff members, and other school officials and community stakeholders to help with the selection of competitive food items to be sold in schools.

a. Expectation: To accommodate the religious, ethnic, and cultural diversity of the student body in meal planning.

b. Expectation: To provide a clean, safe, and pleasant setting for students to eat meals. c. Expectation: To provide adequate time for students to eat meals.

3. Nutritional Guidelines for Non-Sold Foods and Beverages: All parents and staff members

who supply snacks for the classroom are encouraged to provide healthy food choices. a. Goal: School staff members will communicate with the food service director before

providing food to students to make sure that the items meet the USDA requirements by

using the Smart Snack calculator. Documentation of this communication will be an approval form that is sent to the food service director.

4. Food and Beverage Marketing: If Bremen Public Schools advertise food and beverage products, the school(s) shall advertise only those foods and beverages that meet the Smart Snacks in School Nutrition Standards.

5. Nutrition Education: Middle school students (grades 6-8) will analyze their diets and show an understanding of how to improve their diet choices, and they will understand the risks of having a nutrient-deficient diet. High school students will analyze their eating and hydration habits, including how to make good nutritional choices and examine their motivation for eating, and they will demonstrate the ability to practice health-enhancing behaviors regarding nutrition to reduce or avoid lifestyle diseases.

6. Nutrition Promotion: Cafeteria and school staff will encourage students to increase their

a. Goal: Sixth grade students will track their calories consumed and calories burned during the first week of the semester and the last week of the semester. They will be able to compare their choices in nutrition and physical activity by analyzing behaviors.

b. Goal: All 9th grade PE 1 students will learn about, understand, and use body composition to create nutrition and fitness plans that will benefit their overall health. Using a bioelectrical impedance scale, students will test their body composition and then use this information to make decisions toward their plans. Students will track their eating and fitness behaviors during their first trimester and make adjustments based on re-tests of their body composition and plans.

7. Physical Activity: A comprehensive physical education program shall be provided for students in K-12 in accordance with the physical education academic content standards adopted by the state. The school shall provide age-appropriate physical activities. Examples include recess during the school day, intramurals, clubs before and after school, and interscholastic sports that meet the needs of students, including males, females, students with disabilities, and students with special health care needs.

a. Goal: Sixth grade students will experience moderate to vigorous physical activity in at least 70% of each physical education class.

b. Goal: At least 70% of 7th and 8th grade students will achieve a "Healthy Fitness Zone" in cardiovascular fitness as defined by the FitnessGram PACER test.

c. Goal: All 9th grade PE 1 students will learn to track, understand, and adjust their cardiovascular fitness needs using heart rate monitor technology on a daily basis.

Students will be expected to meet minimum fitness requirements, as described by the American Heart Association, based on their age and target heart rate zone during all cardiovascular activities. Students will be also be tested twice per trimester, once for baseline and once for growth, within cardiovascular fitness.

8. Evaluation: The Wellness School Assessment Tool (WellSAT) evaluation tool will be utilized to

measure and evaluate the local wellness plan. The wellness committee will meet to complete the five (5) categories of the WellSAT.

9. Communication: Bremen Public Schools will annually inform and update parents, students,

staff, and the community about the content and implementation of the local wellness plan. After school board approval, the BPS wellness plan will be added to the corporation website, shared with parents via mass email or in a newsletter, and posted on social media site(s). The wellness committee will meet twice each school year to make sure all of the goals set forth in the plan are being met.
