Gracias a Dios hubo muchas gracias y bendiciones. Hubo

Amen.

LA VIRGEN PEREGRINA|THE PILGRIMING
A Note from the Pastor
By Fr. Kevin Roelant
I recently got back from the biannual Detroit priest convocation up
north. Thanks be to God there were many graces and blessings.
There were some insightful talks from our presenter, good times for
fraternity among my brother priests (all of my Detroit priest
classmates were able to attend so we were able to have dinner
together one night which rarely happens), and refreshing times for
prayer. I am grateful to God for these blessings and glad to be back!
On Tuesday we will have our All Souls day Mass where we will
particularly pray for the deceased members of our parish who have
died in the last year and their families. On Saturday November 6th
I will celebrate a Mass at Holy Cross Cemetery at 9am for the
eternal rest of the souls there and consolation of their families.
Mass will be bilingual. I am sure some of you have some family or
friends buried at Holy Cross Cemetery right near our parish. As I
mentioned, November 2nd is All Souls day and we pray this day in
particular for the eternal rest of the poor souls in purgatory.
November is also the month of all souls and we are encouraged to
pray for the peace and eternal rest of the poor souls in purgatory,
especially those of our family and friends during the whole month.
We remember the souls in purgatory can’t pray for themselves and
they need our prayers. It is easy to forget about what we can’t see
physically. The souls in purgatory are suffering and need our
prayers to reach heaven. It is an act of charity to pray for them. We
can pray a rosary, a divine mercy chaplet, or whatever prayer we are
led to for their eternal rest. We know that the most powerful and
beautiful prayer we have is the Mass and the best prayer we could
offer for the eternal rest of our loved ones is the Mass. Personally
during November I know that I will pray more often for the poor
souls in purgatory and will offer more Masses when I can privately
for their eternal rest when I can as well. One can request to have
Masses offered at our parish or at any other parish or religious
community. One can contact our parish office to have a Mass
offered. In the Mass we believe the one sacrifice of Christ on the
cross is re-presented. We are present at Jesus’ sacrifice on Calvary.
Jesus’ body and blood shed on the cross is offered. In Jesus’ body
and blood shed on the cross we have redemption. We receive his
peace and eternal life. When we offer a Mass for someone’ soul
Jesus’ body and blood shed on the cross is offered for them. We
believe in his body and blood shed on the cross we receive the
forgiveness of our sins and eternal life. That is why there is not a
better prayer to be offered for our loved ones than the Mass,
whether they are dead or alive. We can offer Masses for the living
as well. So especially this month of November, which starts
tomorrow, let us pray for the peace and eternal rest of our loved
ones as we are led by the Holy Spirit! Eternal rest grant unto them
O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls
and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen
