• El alcoholismo lleva a menores respuestas inmunes que predisponen al alcohólico a enfermedades infecciosas y cáncer.
• Las deficiencias inmunes se vuelven más pronunciadas a medida que se compromete la función hepática y el estado nutricional.
• Las células cuyas funciones son moduladas incluyen: neutrófilos, monocito/macrófagos, linfocitos T CD4 (TH1 y TH2) y células natural killer.
