ASE Op'cs Europe
ASE solves design challenges in high-‐tech products, “beyond the lens.” Our problem solving approach helps companies bring be?er products to market faster.
ASE provides: • Discovery service to determine feasibility or address cri'cal design challenges
• Contract op'cal engineering, for design of lenses and lens assemblies
• Custom prototypes and short-‐run custom manufacturing of lenses & assemblies
• Consul'ng in op'cal engineering: From concept to product

Special'es:
• Objec've lens for high energy facility: – ASE Op'cs Europe designed the opto-‐mechanical
system from specifica'ons and was also comminssioned to build the objec've lens for a high energy flouresence applica'on. The lens is being assembled now.
• Visually guided intuba'on – This medical device company enlisted ASE Op'cs
Europe to improve the design of a dual-‐use, laryngoscope that would help doctors intubate pa'ents less invasively.

• FABIMED: – Fabrica'on and func'onaliza'on of BIoMEdical
Devices. The aim of FaBiMed proposal is to improve and develop new manufacturing techniques, based on micromoulding, specific for biomedical microdevices. ASE is WP leader and in charge of systems design for non-‐contact quality control
• Low light 43X Microscope – Developed, from op'cal design, optomechanical
design to manufacturing and assembly of this microscope and tube lens for research applica'ons involving fast, mul' photon experiments.

Every problem is approached through a three step process • Understanding
– Fully understand the problem – Understand how the problem has been solved previously
• Brainstorming – Develop at least three op;ons – Compare advantages/disadvantages of each solu;on – Do not eliminate a solu;on unless the decision is clear
• Implementa;on – Choose a final solu;on to move forward – Maintain and be prepared to fall back on an alternate op;on at any ;me – Analyze, measure and test at every opportunity
