FEW FACTS ABOUT THE EXTENT OF
PROBLEMS :
It is estimated that 1.1 billion people or around one sixth of theworlds population do not have access to safe drinking water.
About 1400 lives are lost every day in India due to water bornediseases.
Studies by the World Health Organization reveal that about 90%
POORVI
of the patients in Indian hospitals suffer due to water bornediseases like Cholera, Typhoid, Gastro enteritis etc.
A sizeable portion of the outlay on health is used towards treatingillnesses that could have actually been prevented.
When the losses in productivity due to absenteeism and poorhealth caused by water borne diseases are calculated, the problemgets magnified.

FLUOROSIS PROBLEM IN
NALGONDA DISTRICT IN A.P.
1. Excess fluorides in the drinking water ofNalgonda District, cause dental cavities,
pain and tenderness of bones, retarded

2. The biggest problem being faced by our nation
and its economy today, is the absence of safedrinking water.

The existing system of providing
drinking water in urban / semi
urban rural villages.
The existing system consists of
Drawing water from a tank or a bore well.
Provision of filter beds for the removal of
POORVI
physical impurities. Chlorination to kill the bacteria.
Pumping to the OHT.
Supplying the water through pipe lines to thehouses.

DRAWBACKS IN THE EXISTING SYSTEM
Poor maintenance of the filter beds makesthem become the breeding grounds formicrobes. Thus instead of the water beingurified it ets infested with microbes and
POORVI
other impurities.
Even the distribution pipelines, over a period oftime get corroded and some times the leakingpipelines even facilitate externalcontamination.

THE NEEDWe need to barely provide 4 5 liters of clean
and safe water per day per head for drinkingpurpose only so that we can prevent the
water borne diseases.
POORVI
We need to segregate the two types of water-
one exclusively for drinking purposes and the
other for the purposes of sanitation, washing,
bathing and other domestic purposes which
do not require treated water.POORVI ENTERPRISES, HYDERABAD

The pore size of R.O. Membrane is 0.001 micronand it removes all the bacteria and also the dissolved

The R.O. System is a perfect method for waterpurification but technically it needs well trained
persons to operate the system.
All the commercial organizations in mineral waterbusiness adopt R.O. Technology for waterpurification.

The Mobile Water plant is more suitable where the
number of families/beneficiaries are less, making a
fixed community based water purification plantunviable.
POORVI
The Mobile water plant can cater to 5 villages everyday working on a single shift basis.
CWS designed a Mobile Water R.O Plant mounted
on a TATA ACE 4 wheeler after making suitablemodifications to its body. This plant is designed toproduce 2000 Ltrs per Hour.

42/52
The vehicle/plant is operated by a driver-cum-trainedoperator.
Each village should have two tanks one for raw waterand the other for product water.
POORVI
The Mobile plant reaches the spot at a fixed time, getsit connected to the raw water tank and stores thetreated water in product water tank.
The purified water is distributed to the villagers byemploying a part-time helper.
