GRAMMAR

1. EL ADJETIVO Y SU GRADO COMPARATIVO

El adjetivo en inglés no tiene masculino ni femenino ni singular ni plural. Ej: TALL: alto-alta-altos-altas

Cuando van juntos el adjetivo y el nombre al que califica, por ejemplo EL LIBRO ROJO en inglés el adjetivo siempre se coloca delante del nombre. Ej: THE RED BOOK HAS GOT ONE THOUSAND PAGES

Grado Comparativos (más + adjetivo + que)

Adjetivos cortos: ADJETIVO + ER + THAN (Que) - Ej: TALL= alto - Ej: TALLER= más alto

Peter is TALLER THAN John

Peter es más alto que John

NOTA:

Adjetivos acabados en Y en grado comparativo cambia a I

Ej: HAPPY: Feliz

HAPPIER= Más Feliz

Adjetivos acabados en E en grado comparativo solo añaden R

Ej: NICE: Bonito

NICER= Más Bonito

Adjetivos formados por C-V-C (consonante-vocal- consonante)

Ej: BIG: Grande

BIGGER= Más grande

Adjetivos largos: MORE+ADJETIVO + THAN (Que)

Ej: INTERESTING= interesante

Ej:MORE INTERESTING = Más interesante que

This book is more interesting than that film = Este libro es más

interesante que esa película.

2. PREPOSICIONES

THROUGH = A través de AROUND= Alrededor de ALONG= A lo largo de UNDER = Por debajo de OVER= Por encima de

ON= Sobre o encima de IN= en, dentro de WITH= con FOR= para FROM= desde BEHIND: detrás de… IN FRONT OF: delante de…. BETWEEN: entre (dos)

3. PLURALES IRREGULARES

Para formar la mayoría del plural de los nombres en inglés, al igual que en español añadimos una S Ej: CAMEL = camello CAMELS = camellos

Cuando un nombre en singular acaba en Y, y queremos formar su plural, cambiamos la Y por I y añadimos ES Ej: BUTTERFLY = mariposa BUTTERFLIES = mariposas

Cuando un nombre acaba en X, CH, S o SS, y queremos formar su plural añadimos ES Ej: FOX= zorro FOXES= zorros

También hay nombres cuyos plurales son palabra diferentes a su singular Ej: MOUSE = ratón MICE = ratones

Ej: CHILD = niño CHILDREN = niños

Ej: WOMAN = mujer WOMEN = mujeres

Ej: MAN = hombre MEN = hombres

Ej: TOOTH= diente TEETH = dientes

Ej: FOOT = pie FEET = pies
