elegant gala in St. Regis to a conference on wellness at
Westin; whatever the event, the organiser will receive
SPG Pro starpoints; a new loyalty programme for meet-
ings and business trips. Starwood chains are a custom-
ised paradise for event organisers. For instance, Le Méri-
dien Ra Beach Hotel & Spa (El Vendrell, Tarragona) offers
the possibility of customising all its facilities. Creative
and inspiring meetings will enjoy the perfect environ-
ment in the Discovery Meeting Rooms or Ra Lounge. Tea
breaks in the bamboo gardens, lunch on the terraces
overlooking the sea or in the team buildings on San Sal-
vador Beach also contribute to the success of events.
A similar situation can be found at the Sheraton Salo-
bre Golf Resort & Spa (Gran Canaria), where, in addition
to placing its ample facilities and public areas at the dis-
posal of its guests, it can customise events. For example,
last October, a gastronomic masterclass was held under
the direction of Chef Ángel Palacios for SPG members
and, among other items, they were presented with cus-
tomised aprons bearing their names.
TECHNOLOGY FOR IMPROVED SERVICESTechnology plays an important role in Starwood hotels
when it comes to further customizing services and meet-
ing the needs of travellers. Over two years ago the SPG
iPad and smartphone app was launched (to find hotels,
make reservations, obtain further information on desti-
nations...); last May we launched the new SPG app for
Google Glass (the first of its kind developed by a hotel

CUSTOMISED CUISINEAware of the importance of eating well, menus at
Starwood hotels try to meet the needs and preferences
of our guests. Therefore, Westin’s challenge is to ena-
ble its guests to maintain a healthy lifestyle while trav-
elling thanks to its nutritious and delicious Super-
FoodsRxTM, ideal for recharging your body with
nutrients and vitamins. There are tempting choices,
high in antioxidants or low in calories. Designed by
doctors and nutritionists, they seek the synergies be-
tween foods together with the correct combination to
increase their nutritional value and provide energy to

ría a Olafur Eliasson.
Me gusta
